My WRX has Tein coilovers on it, and it's incredibly stiff and handles amazingly well. It definately doesn't feel heavy, I'm very impressed with it. That, and it falls within your price range.

The VR6 is a fun engine, but v-dub build quality isn't so good, and they are average at best in reliability.

Yeah, I had trouble seeing the thing and its not a torx. Got everything apart, after sacrificing a ratchet to that stupid allen head cover thing. Now I get to wait until tomorrow to drop the flywheel off at the machine shop to get resurfaced.

Tried it, didn't work. We may have found the problem. Too bad I couldn't make enough progress to get the flywheel resurfaced by now, so that I could be putting shit back together already

I'm trying to put a new clutch into my 03 wrx, and I can't get the transmission to separate from the engine. After using a prybar, I've got about half an inch of separation at the top, and maybe half that at the bottom, but it just won't move any further. Basically, does anyone have any suggestions for getting the rest of the way off, or is there something special that needs to be done? 3 of us were shoving on it and couldn't get it to move any further.

You can't go wrong with a cummins. As for the mercedes, don't know anything about them.

some of the impreza's, especially the wrx, experiance fuel leaks in sub freezing weather. I've heard about clutch issues, but a new clutch takes care of that. I've not heard of anything else, but I'm still learning about them.

It is very easy to rack up enough in damage from laying down a bike to total it, and they are easy to fix, so you will see a lot of salvage title bikes. So long as the frame isn't tweaked I wouldn't worry about it.
