durrrr... I just built a Crosman 1377C lever pump single shot pistol, with alternate steel breech, rear sight, shoulder stock, and red dot aiming sight. Just for fun. .17cal @ 600fps I use German RWS airgun ammo
  3. Here's a website of home built electric motorcycles. Quite a variety of them. http://www.evalbum.com/type/MTCY
  4. Here's a home built good for 70mph, but only 10 miles per charge: How to build a 72Volt electric motorcycle
  5. okey dokey.. I need 2777.7 of these to start with, at one buck each for an equivilent 40 hp bike that will run for an hour maybe... edit: or 555 of this Hoover vacuum cleaner 18v lithium at 45 bucks each electric isn't cheap to build... I really think a hybrid is the way to go, with a very small gas engine and alternator/generator to supplement the batteries.
  6. I heard a kid talking on a phone like that today. It brought a grin, that I could even understand it. I almost asked some lady that heard it, what foreign language that was.
  7. Sell your Harley stock. Indian is the oldest motorcycle manufacturer in the USA. And Polaris already owns Victory motorcycles. If Polaris can put together an Indian motorcycle for mass production at a lower cost, it will be competitive against Harley. 8. THE first ride? I had just bought the bike. Never rode one before. Only read about it in books from the library. "How to ride a motorcycle." It worked. But fun ended when I got to the right angle corner and realized I'd have to review the chapters on brakes and cornering really fast. Don't tell me you can't ride brakes hard through a corner. It's the first thing I ever did on a bike... edit: and agree that "in the wind" feeling with all the heightened senses...it never goes away, it never diminishes.
  9. I try to screw up lose/loose every time. I have to stop and think it through. Notice "through", "thru" isn't acceptable. (Even though I want to.)
  10. or... exhaust system repair tape, for on the bottle. Those are good to between 1000F and 1900F. I think those are held in place by wire. Like safety wire.
  11. Ace hardwares have that "mach 2" stainless foil tape. (I think it's aluminum.) That might be enough to do the task. (It's actually HVAC furnace duct metal tape.) I think the package said something about handling elevated temperatures. I'd guess it would be good up to 175F or higher. I've used it on engine parts. Cheap enough. On the bottle, not the exhaust pipe. Oil and fuel will loosen up the glue backing over time. Industrial grade metal tapes, like Scotch brand, appear to be good up to 300F. Don't know the difference. They are both metal tape. http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1272338&kw=metal+tape&origkw=metal+tape&searchId=55702021673 There is also materials for on soft and hard luggage, to go in between the exhaust and the bags. Some of those are expensive.
  12. From what I've seen, a $3000 electric from off shore, would double to at least $6000 to be introduced into the US market. We have requirements that are expensive, apparently.
  13. Rather popular in other countries. There's about 17 million of them already. And it's being projected that there will be 138 million electric motorcycles and scooters by 2017. And how many in the USA? Not many so far... Global Market for E-Scooters and E-Motorcycles to Surge, Report Says 138 Million Electric Motorcycles and Scooters to be on the Road Worldwide by 2017, Forecasts Pike Research Electric motorcycles, scooters to top 138 million worldwide by 2017 Would you rock an eMotorcycle to commute to work? Or even for it's limited range rides? Would you if gasoline was $5 a gallon? $10? $20? What's it take to make it happen?
  14. argh... 48÷2(9+3)=?

From our own little poll here: The odds of "2" being right: 47.06% The odds of "2" being wrong: 52.94% The odds of "288" being right: 52.94% The odds of "288" being wrong: 47.06% Results split near 50%-50% are nearly worthless. It only points out that most everyone is clueless and guessing, in general. Just like most political elections.
  17. Out on a ride last year or so, I measured the high vis green on somebody to be visible at about two miles. Quite impressive. The high vis orange is less, about one mile. At two miles I couldn't see the tiny tail light or brake light. But I could see that high vis green. I do have 20-15 or better eyesight and can actually see something at two miles. That has to happen also. My opinion: about 40% of the drivers are driving with 20-40 eyesight or less. They can't see as far as normal, nor see detail as well. And that also effects depth perception, something a motorcycle rider wishes all cage drivers have plenty of. Then add in people that won't wear their glasses, and people with little or no depth perception in the first place. It has to be at least half the people on the road. Think about it.
  18. All things we are used to. None of which means stop or pull out. Scary. And then there is the variety of "Michigan Left" turns... http://www.michiganhighways.org/indepth/michigan_left.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michigan_left And the confusing left turn lane flashing red or whatever, which is changing: http://www.michigan.gov/msp/0,1607,7-123-1586_27094-73839--,00.html
  19. Dunno. But in California it definitely means "pull out". Stuck on the side of the freeway, large numbers of people will flash headlights at you. And yeah, I've seen flashing headlights at people to make them stop, actually cause them to pull out. And vice versa. To me it means someone is flashing lights to say something. What that message is, I don't know.
  20. Yes. In California (West coast) flashing headlights means "go ahead and pull out". Like when stuck on side of freeway trying to re enter the traffic flow. There are California drivers in Ohio.

Both. Manufacturer is required to go full lock left and right and run at a certain speed around and around till failure or qualification. The steering pump is beefed up with cooling fins and strength and stuff that wouldn't normally exist.

Agreed. It was part of the testing for failure on military vehicles.
  23. I had a not so wise friend hand a 44mag revolver to his wife to shoot. The hammer and frame hit her in the forehead. Knocked her out. Left a scar.
  24. I stored the bikes with gallons of cheap Rotella T JASO 15-40W semi-synthetic, and am riding with it to see how it works out. So far it's a bit hard to start on cold days. Shifts feel a little different. But that might just be the bike and the temperatures.
