  1. lists of motorcycle seat heights, http://www.vtwinmama.com/motorcycle_seat_heights.htm http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/school-SectionTwoB.htm edit: quick calculation, at 5'2", if you want to flat foot a bike. I'd start looking around at a 28" seat height and higher. Guzzi V7 is 31.7 Guzzi Griso is 31.5 Virago is 28.3
  2. I like the looks of Guzzis, and would want the Griso 1200 8V for me. But a V7 is a close 2nd choice with a bit less power. Yes, all a little heavy, but not considering the size of the engine. Most Guzzis would make a nice cruiser/tourer. More of a standard rider position with a drive shaft. Yeah, just like BMW. Lack of a local dealer is sort of a problem, but I do most of my own mechanical work and mail order parts anyway. I would certainly look at some BMWs, if considering a Guzzi. new V7 cafe/classic claims 407 lbs dry / 439 lbs wet & 47.6hp old V7 classic/sport claims 539 lbs & 50 to 70hp Griso 1100 claims 509 lbs dry & 72hp Griso 1200 8V claims 489 lbs dry & 110hp weight(dry) to power ratio with 160 pounds rider: new V7 cafe/classic = 11.91 lbs per horsepower old V7 classic/sport = 9.99 lbs per horsepower Griso 1100 = 9.29 lbs per horsepower Griso 1200 8V = 5.9 lbs per horsepower (Honda 919 = 5.32 lbs per horsepower) Obviously the Griso 1200 8V is a beast and about twice as quick as the others. But Guzzis are all about torque anyway, and not horsepower. I think a V7 cafe classic with the engine tricked up a bit would be interesting. I remember back when California highway patrol had Guzzis, they quickly learned not to shift up or down when going fast through a corner. The centrifugal action of the engine and drive train can try to stand the bike up or knock it down. A bike with a crankshaft that is side to side doesn't have that. Easy enough to get used to.
  3. 190 pages, lol... too bad the Feds don't want to go after the small fish that traffic in interstate theft... edit: cliff's notes part 2: the list on the first post of 101 other forums, is a list of the other forums that have heard about this at powerstrokenation, and reported in that he had been on theirs and scamming someone. Apparently this is both his life style and means of income. edit: ewww (she's ok, he's creepy) http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs828.snc4/68830_164116803617247_100000567853532_432184_1624937_n.jpg
  4. Yeah, the BMV isn't happy about a seller signing off a title without a notary. They aren't happy about buyer signing off before coming in either. Both can invalidate a title and force the seller/buyer to get a new title and start over. They also want the signature to exactly match the name shown on the document. and congrats on a track bike..
  5. If you don't know, driving on SuperBowl Sunday is hazardous. I'll guess maybe 10 times more hazardous. A quick trip out, and I dodged multiple attempts at collision. Worst one was on the freeway, around the Brice entrance to 70 East. I had a red mini van come over at my front right fender, when it changed lanes toward me. I braked hard enough to make the ABS growl. That wasn't the first hard braking on the freeway either. I got some practice. Lots of people doing really stupid moves everywhere. I watched two people at a 4 way stop suddenly and quickly hit the gas toward each other. I guess they had the brake covered, they stopped before hitting. Saw an old Jaguar jerking really quick lane changes. Wasn't going fast, just driving weird. I even saw a car driving sideways, really bad. You know, the bent and out of whack frame and axles. The back wheels were about an entire foot out of align with the front wheels. Staring at that will make you wreck your own car. To make it all worse, I swung by the Odd Lots on Hamilton Rd, and it's gone. Empty storefront and the sign is missing. Moral of the story... cover the brakes, yutughhh edit: oh yeah, and nice pothole on 256 at 70 in the left lane to get on the freeway. If I had been in a car instead of a Jeep, it would have hurt something.

  7. yeah, I saw this in the news this morning. They still don't have any details. UPDATED: 1 dead, 1 critical, 10 wounded near YSU UPDATED: Two arrested for firing weapons into house It wasn't a frat house, they are now saying, but it was mostly YSU students. edit: I take it back. It is a frat house:
  8. I keep getting a vision of road jamming, where the vehicles wobble around and swerve across other lanes, when their cell phones malfunction. I looked it up in the other thread, and the FCC said that the only reason cell phone jamming has never been prosecuted is that no one has ever complained. That sort of says something about cell phone reception and acceptance of spotty coverage. My experience says that intentional (or unintentional) continuous jamming from a static location will eventually be prosecuted. It's a pretty rare event. It did happen to a guy on the North end of Columbus. We all hated him for wide band disruption of CB channels. (back in the day). He lost license and paid a hefty fine. It took a long time to build a case against him, even though lots of people knew exactly who it was. I had one friend tracked down for using a linear signal boost, and they just basically told him to quit doing that. (Not too hard to track down with that 30 foot antenna on the side of the house.) The worst thing you can do is disrupt signals that are intended for multiple users. Such as TV or radio signals. Or public service channels, such as fire, police or aviation. I wouldn't mess with railroad or ship frequencies either. These type disruptions will pretty much be tracked down in days or weeks.
  9. Yeah, there's a gun show etiquette, once a barter is under way, it's not nice to jump in. But I stand by to be next to have a chance to barter. I watched a young man offer a Luger in holster with spare mag, and he said it was one his Father (or Grandfather) brought back from Europe in WW2. The dealer offered a fairly low offer without looking at it, and the kid handed it over, took the money, and walked away. The dealer checked the piece, and it was all matching serial numbers on all parts including holster and spare mag. Easily worth 3 to 4 times what he had offered, or more. Wish the kid would have talked to me first.
  10. One of mine was totaled. The estimates were higher than what I paid for it, so they gave me the amount on the title and let me keep it. No rebuilt title. It was similar to yours, just one quarter panel and a door messed up. I fixed it back up and drove it till the tires wore out. I have no idea why they did it that way. Other than they must have really not wanted the car. It wouldn't hurt to try for a deal that doesn't have a rebuilt title.
  11. crap, that's what I thought... but it being 2am to 4am, I'm not required to think straight... let's look again... 13. People with contact lenses sometimes get used to it. If I get a contact lens stuck up in there, I'll go get it. But I don't particularly like doing that. Obviously I'm not going to go scratching my eyelids while wearing contacts.

    spring yet

I checked out seven books from the library. I told the gal I expect Winter to be gone when I'm done and bring them back. I like the idea of an indoor track. Wonder how much that would cost. Maybe one of those big balloon buildings like they use for driving ranges.
  16. I had to go look it up again... The max charge on a 12v battery is 15.1v, and will show 14.5v when the charger is removed. It will quickly drop to 13.5v, and then slowly drop to 12.5v, and need charging again. Each of the 6 cells will sustain a 2.1v for a total of 12.6v So if I had a battery that dropped quickly to around 12.5v, when I expected one or two volts more, I'd suspect that one of the 2v cells was bad. I've had them do that and go bad on new car batteries.

    Sad story.

I had a tan and white Malinois. They will indeed protect.
  18. ah yes, our old friend the HellFire missile. Brought to you in part, by yours truly, ReconRat... If we want to get all technical though, the weapon wouldn't arm in that short of a distance. More likely, you'd never see the aircraft that launched, nor see the approach of the weapon. Boom.
  19. no decent place to post this, must make one... 4,996 members and counting... 4 more to hit 5000...
  20. Sadly, a certain percentage of the population will hear about this story, and prepare for the 2012 event by behaving very badly. Fiction will become fact, and we'll have to live with that for another two years.
  21. If judges could perform magic... "May your curse be a dozen daughters, all in need of ROTC uniforms in a dark room of pedophiles..."
  22. I remember that one. We called them SilverWings. Basic problem with a turbo bike is that it will double your insurance. Or more.
