  1. I do remember rolling IE back on a particular computer, for these reasons. I think I had to do that and reinstall two or three times before it worked consistently. But I think that was an MS update error in that case. And yes, I've seen IE and Firefox both break at the same time. But I mostly find a viral attack causes it. You might try a very long scan with SuperAntiSpyware later tonight (like over night). And see if it finds anything. Oh, and scans in safe mode are worth trying also.
  2. one more, are you running zone alarm? or some other firewall? I've seen errors with zone alarm install/uninstall kill browser connections.
  3. with really squirrely laptops, I sometimes shut down, remove the AC, remove the battery, and hold the power button down for about 20-30 seconds. It actually fixes some really bonker laptops.
  4. I think just unchecking and re checking the tcp/ip does it. I haven't done much of that since back in tokenring days...
  5. ummm, maybe try half, or full duplex, instead of auto settings. Can always change it back. Just looking for something that will work...
  6. can the tcp/ip stack be deleted and auto set back up in win7, like it does in xp?
  7. worse dns attack I've had, changed my dns servers to moscow. When I went there (silly me) to look around, I found incoming ports redirected to unique matching folders, each of which executed a different viral attack. I was in awe. Way out of my league. I decided to back away, heheh. Later found the same setup in the Ukraine.
  8. ok, check in browser properties, and make sure you don't have a proxy address set. some viral attacks set one up for you. Quick way to check, sometimes, is to use https instead of http, and see if it works. I'm running out of ideas here...
  9. holy crap... mine too. But I only get occasional missed webpages. Changing it now... durrr
  10. I agree. Wonder how that got changed, considering no viral found.
  11. Since you've already run malwarebytes, check your IP address settings for a possible DNS server hijack. I wouldn't expect any DNS address entries to be there. edit: also try using https in an address, instead of http, and see if that works.
  12. 13 signs would be sidereal astrology, whereas 12 signs are tropical astrology. Both are valid. Sidereal astrology is based on the actual 13 constellations of the zodiac. Tropical astrology, which is more common in the West, is based on 30 degree chunks of the sky, for a total of 12 signs. All the forecasting and predictions remain the same (supposedly). The change in position of planets and sun over time, call for switching to sidereal. Over time, it will go back to being the same again. And then go out the other way. Or in other words... sidereal points at the stars themselves, and moves with them. Tropical looks at the chunk of sky, and the stars move around instead. The changes in orbit, have actually moved everything over (as viewed), pushing the normal constellations over so far, that it gets weird. That makes it difficult for tropical astrology. now you know... (and I didn't change between the two, still the same Taurus)
  13. Who? Glock's not here, man... It's a little hard to sue Glock in the USA GLOCK Ges.m.b.H. P.O. Box 9 A-2232 Deutsch Wagram AUSTRIA
  14. I remember dropping by a girl's house to visit, and she was finishing up installing the V-8 in the family station wagon. Out and back on a 3 day weekend. She said it needed it. They exist...
  15. We can't see the poll they originally offered, but it only had two buttons. There was no button for "not sure". durrrrr
  16. You know, I would care about this, if it weren't for the understanding that loud sounds/noise cause considerable fatigue. Both on the roadway and for pilots in the air. That is a fact, and it's well documented. Nothing wrong with performance mods, but I think I'd like a removable baffle in case I wanted to switch back and forth.
  17. I thought we looked that up and you don't have to stop when going the other way. I prefer to stop, and have even seen MC PD escorts force all 4 lanes to stop for funerals. Usually by riding their MC down the wrong side of the road with intent...
  18. Thank you FireFox' date=' for the history search function. My bad, it was New York Daily News poll, not New York Times [url']http://www.nydailynews.com/nydn/poll.do?pollCmsUniqueId=20110110_gun_control_in_the_us&pollTitle=Gun+Control+in+the+U.S.%0D%0A&pollQuestion=What+do+you+think+of+current+gun+laws+in+the+United+States%3F&voteExpirationDate=&option_labels=Current+laws+are+too+strict.+Any+infringement+upon+gun+owners%27+rights+is+an+infringement+upon+the+2nd+amendment.%3BCurrent+laws+are+not+strict+enough.+We+need+to+regulate+access+to+deadly+weapons.%3BNot+sure.+&20110110_gun_control_in_the_us=1&vote=vote It eased up a bit, it was running closer to 30/70 when I voted...
  19. The New York Times did a poll for possible changes in gun control from this. It being New York, two thirds said the gun did it...
  20. Here's a video and article in Wired Danger Room about it: http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2011/01/dont-panic-chinas-new-stealth-jet-takes-to-the-air/ Looks too large and too heavy to me. It's a prototype. It reminds me a bit of the big YF-23 prototype. We'll see what comes next. I've read that the stealth wasn't carried over to the rear aspect. Meaning it's visible from behind, but not so much from the front. And yes, the major components of the F-22 are probably missing. Vectoring, advanced avionics and comms, etc. Still, it's new and much better than previous designs. While we're waiting, check out the mach 6 US think tank design that's alive again: Darpa BlackSwift http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/dangerroom/2011/01/htv-3-image2.jpg Btw, now a days a "stealth" requires low observables in microwave, visible, infrared, ultraviolet, millimeter wave, acoustic, and other stuff... Not so easy to do for anyone.
  21. hahahaha... maybe I'll come down *down* maybe I won't *up* maybe I'll come down *down* maybe I won't *up* maybe I'll come down *down* maybe I won't *up*....
  22. The website AboveTopSecret says he was a member there. They've discussed what to do about it since the media is storming them for info. They now have a link open to Jared's postings. user name erad3 source: http://tucsoncitizen.com/paranormal/2011/01/11/website-alleges-that-jared-loughner-frequented-ufo-and-conspiracy-forum/ link: http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread649091/pg1 Caution: the AboveTopSecret website has some very radical topics. Conspiracies abound there. (Along with ufos, aliens, politics, etc)
  23. He's out in LA to do some stuff. And he got arrested for fighting with his daughter. oops. No charges filed... http://www.etonline.com/news/106387_Ted_Williams_The_Story_Behind_the_Arrest/
  24. It's semi official. Jared was a registered independant in 2006 and did not vote in 2010. CBS News
  25. What is said is true. US Marines are a quick, effective, and feared fighting force. The same might be said about DELTA, SEALS, Rangers, and Special Forces. The difference is that there are a lot of US Marines.
