  1. I've started long rides at 40F, but I sure can feel each and every little increase in temperature until it hits around 45F and higher. 40F at steady road speeds is something most people are not prepared for.
  2. cold in the city @ 34F and higher - yes cold in the countryside @ 45F and higher - yes rain - yes cold and rain - no
  3. Nothing is ever purged, removed or banished from records. The judge can see everything right there in front of him, in that folder. Those records are not for public use, but state and federal can access them.
  4. Ha! It's a lot of fun, isn't it? Keep some records of what you're doing. So you know what works better, if you make changes. Crimping needs to be consistent. And done just right. Even varying the amount of hand pull or pressure can change it. So I'd say be consistent when you crimp. Also, inspect your cartridges and components. Before, during and after assembly.
  5. Aluminum and magnesium parts have a very bad habit of warping or cracking, especially with heat and cooling cycles, if not torqued correctly, both the amount of torque, and accuracy of the pattern of torque. High heat cycles on some ferrous materials, like brake rotors on a car axle, can exhibit the same warping disasters. I'll think I'll leave it at that. edit: I torque absolutely everything.
  6. Now that's some funny stuff right there. Wish I had been there to see that.
  7. High IQ, like can't be measured. I try to dummy it down. Sorry... Was wondering that. Maybe more like yelling through the door to go away, door broke down and they had at it in less then 5 seconds. Or... He opened the door and started it with a guy bigger than him. shup! you shup too! Yes, I am one of the oldest here. 42+ years riding... Next you'll be saying I rode with Noah... two by two...
  8. TwiztedRabbit had oil shooting out of his exhaust last year. It turned out to be the head gasket? There are vertical oil passages under pressure on most bikes, very close to the cylinder bores. Honda 4cyls used to be notorious for leaking there on the head gasket. But his was pumping out, you're is dripping. Which is why I don't think oil under pressure. Thinking at worst, it's a crack in the head. But seriously, a head gasket would be cheaper to fix. That thread showed up at the bottom of your thread, as a similar. Which reminded me of that. Oil Coming from Exhaust
  9. Wow, the wheelies with her on the back instead of the front were crazy!
  10. Kasler's Country Kitchen, Amesville. Ditto that. About 7 miles West of 555, on SR550 @ SR 329. If you don't want to waste time, get fuel and food in Zanesville first. Lots of fast food places there.
  11. Incarcerated in Madison Correctional for 1 year of a 1 1/2 year sentence. This is what he was found guilty of: 2907.05 4 2907.05 Gross sexual imposition (A) No person shall have sexual contact with another, not the spouse of the offender; cause another, not the spouse of the offender, to have sexual contact with the offender; or cause two or more other persons to have sexual contact when any of the following applies: ... 4) The other person, or one of the other persons, is less than thirteen years of age, whether or not the offender knows the age of that person.
  12. Dirty air filter. If the pistons can't draw air during intake prior to compression, they will try to draw oil instead. They have to pull something into the cylinder. Your plugs would look oiled or fouled, of course, if oil is making it past the exhaust valves and actually dripping out the tail pipe. I'd at least look at the plugs to see if it's all of them or just one or something. Worst case is a cracked head, letting oil from the gallery above, into the exhaust port passage. It would get blown out as oil, having never been in the cylinder. If the pipes were disconnected from the head, it would be real obvious. It should be dry soot in the exhaust passages, and a crack would leave it oil wet and building up carbon fast.
  13. Orange is good. One of my older bikes was bright red-orange. Red and Yellow accents look great with orange. Conversely, orange and red accents look great with yellow. And my spell checker thinks the word " favorite " is ok... ?
  14. On a side note, I used to paint my motorcycle every Winter. Just because I could...
  15. unscientific survey of the 10 most popular colors for motorcycles: 1. Black 2. Red 3. Blue 4. Silver 5. Yellow 6. Gray 7. Orange 8. Green 9. White 10. Purple Narrow it down, like this: I like black, red and blue But not orange or green (or pink) so possibly silver, yellow, gray, white or purple to be different. And then use google image search to find something you really like. And use that. And AttackPainter on this forum is a paint wizard. http://www.ohio-riders.com/member.php?u=1074 And Reimbrandt does mad custom work. http://www.ohio-riders.com/member.php?u=3262

For any result that has more than 1000 entries, Google simply cannot make an accurate estimate of the number. Changing "inurl:" to "+inurl:" fixed the problem. And so did changing "inurl:" to "site:" No real idea why the search broke in the first place. Nor why this should fix it.
  17. http://www.gstwin.com/ nope, works for me. Try it on another computer to see what happens. Temporary problems with websites are common. 5 days is a long time to be down.
  18. Something like that happens on IBM/Lenovo S50 desktops. But it's not an admin password, it's a user password at boot. Removing the BIOS battery or using the sysbd jumper to dump BIOS settings has worked for those. Then update the BIOS.
  19. ditto that. Hardly anyone will see the request in all this chatter of this thread. Thursday is April 1st, not too early for a bike night. Won't be many riders that early, but it would grow. Biggest problem is many think the area is too crowded. I don't think so, but I'm used to city traffic.
  20. I wish I could see into the future, and see what will really happen. There will be changes, but what and to who? What loopholes exist, that we will all regret? Is this distracting everyone from bank failures, more foreclosures, credit crash, and another stock market crash prediction? Or even energy crisis and global coolilng/warming? I wonder if this even triggers a market crash? I don't know, it's way too complex to answer. I wish I could see into the future.
  21. eww... I remember this pic. I have no fantasies about this place. Geez.
  22. A quick note on method of torquing. Any pattern of bolts, 2 or more, or symmetrical hardware, or groups of hardware, like on forks and suspension. These should be torqued as a set, in a reasonable pattern, in incremental steps. Torque all to 1/4 total torque first, then 1/2 total torque, and last, torqued to full torque specified. I know it doesn't always have to be done that way, but it does avoid some goofy things that sometimes happen.
  23. Correct. The low part of a torque wrench's range is not so accurate. I use a 3/8 inch drive inch-pound clicker torque wrench, with a good range. I usually set newton-meters, rather than converting ft-lb to in-lb. Torque by feel? Bad idea. The smaller torque settings are tough to get right. In other words, if your hand is plus or minus 5 ft-lb, and you are trying to hit 15 ft-lb, it will be 10 to 20 ft-lb. That's either half loose, or half broken. Been there, done that.
  24. ha, you are now assigned to monitor events at those locations. Accurate start up dates would be good to have. Henson's would be an interesting ride over there for fun. Same with Avg Joes, it's not far. - 4949 E. Dublin-Granville Rd Starts on Tuesday, April 6th confirmed from website (Wii games are also on Tuesday nights)
  25. Columbus Area Bike Night List 2010 moved to this page: http://www.ohio-riders.com/showpost.php?p=474456&postcount=6 in this thread: http://www.ohio-riders.com/showthread.php?t=57450 So I don't have to edit and maintain two of the same lists...
