  1. no no, you don't invite a group of over 4000 motorcycles to come over, they might actually show up. Then you owe them those 3999+ beers....
  2. no, she likes to pick up 18 yo bois... that's how she knows...
  3. You forgot painting the windshield to match. I also enjoy a smoke cover on the tail light, and tinting the headlight. And hey, just thought of sun shade screening or tinting the mirrors to avoid those annoying bright lights behind me... cool... this from a guy that rides a flat black motorcycle that can't be seen anyway...

  5. It's a seriously nice bike for it's age. I've seen it.

  6. I got nailed by that at a station in Kentucky on I-75. Obviously low octane fuel when I had pumped high octane. When that fuel made it into the engine, I thought the engine exploded. It was a high compression van engine with mechanical variable timing to adjust for low octane fuel. Well it did, and the van nearly stopped right there going uphill.
  7. I remember making that mistake. At an old gas station along the freeway. The batch of fuel stirred up all the water and garbage, and the car would barely run to the next gas station to add better fuel. I wasn't alone, the clue was stalled cars all over the freeway. It made the news and the city closed it down to get the tanks cleaned out. I wouldn't be surprised if the tanker was selling the station a load of water either. I will admit I don't like BP either. It's the only station that has short changed me on fuel with bad pump meters. Happening more than once is deliberate in my opinion. It was probably only that one station's owner. My Dad always said Shell was the best, because they supply all the fuel for aviation. But I tend to go for something cheaper, and I use UDF and Speedway. Both are generally newer stations with clean tanks. I think UDF fuel is supplied by Mobil, and Speedway fuel is supplied by Marathon. But like I said, it's all the same fuel anyway. The percent of alcohol in fuel used to be variable, but it appears to also be all the same now. It's now regulated to not be more than a certain maximum mixed in the fuel. It will vary from state to state per each state's regulations. Gasohol was cool, and ran great in inline fours. And smelled like whiskey to everyone behind you. Gasohol was high percentages of ethanol (grain alcohol) instead of methanol. As high as it could go and still run ok. My I-4 motorcycle got great gas mileage on it, but the V-8 car got terrible mileage using it. Both types of alcohol can cause problems with seals and gaskets and plastic parts on older vehicles from back in the day before alcohol was added to the fuel. Which means anything old enough to run leaded fuel, and a few years past that. The exact year that manufacturers switched over to better parts escapes me. Opinion: Gas stations do not make any money from selling gasoline. They make money from selling all that stuff inside the store. The store that gas stations never used to have. This means that all gas stations are selling the cheapest fuel that they can possibly buy. So it's a good thing actually, that all fuel is the same. And regulated and inspected by the state to be that way.
  8. We've had previous threads on this subject. 1. All gasoline is the same. Either high octane or low octane or a blend of the two. It comes from a pipe line from a refinery, and is stored in large tanks. It is picked up by tanker trucks, and delivered to gas stations. It's all the same, except... on the way to the gas stations, the tanker trucks add in a batch of simple additives to make it "the type of fuel you are paying extra for". Mostly detergent. 2. Running the wrong octane fuel, either lower or higher than what your engine should have, will either damage the engine, or rob some of your power produced. 3. Buy your fuel from good gas stations that have good clean tanks in the ground. You are less likely to get dirt and water from a newer gas station.

  14. 2002-2007 Honda 919 (CB900F) Pros: 1. Does everything you ask of it really well. It can sport, tour, commute and stunt. 2. Fairly light weight, same as a Honda CB550, but with at least twice the horsepower and maybe triple the torque. 3. Bullet proof FireBlade engine. 4. Low maintenance. And lots of cheap used parts available. 5. Lots of kit parts available. 6. Low cost of initial purchase, and 45mpg. 7. Zero service recalls. 8. 380 watt alternator output. 9. Cheap insurance, and nobody wants to steal it. 10. Fuel injection is a winner. 11. Nobody knows what it is. 12. Wheelies for free. Cons: 1. All those kit parts are mostly in Europe. 2. Limited colors from the factory. 3. Drive chains on early models were too long, but removing a link works. 4. Takes a year to learn how to not wheelie all the time. 5. Touchy throttle play at off idle, takes a year to learn to control that too.
  15. In many other countries, even some considered "civilized", female children are not wanted. They can't work in the fields, and they are usually sold, married off, or destroyed at birth. That is reality for the parts of the world that represent the majority of the world's population. This is the reality that we don't see.
  16. Once and a while I have a soccer van try to get in the lane with me. The disturbing part, is when you check the driver, you'll get a dirty look for being in their way. Soccer mom and queen suv are at the top of the list for retarded.

  18. Ranking of crime and dangerous cities varies a lot. The 2009 Metropolitan Crime Rate Rankings doesn't list any Ohio metropolitan areas in the top 25 most dangerous or the top 25 most safest. The 2009 City Crime Rankings lists no Ohio cities in the top 25 safest, and the 25 most dangerous cities, lists Cleveland at 8th, Cincinnati at 19th, and Dayton at 20th. No Ohio city made it onto the Forbes list of top 15 most dangerous cities.
  19. Very nice, my eternally skinny butt thanks you. Maybe I'll get off mine and dig out some travel pics.
  20. I sadly turned down a transfer to LA, years ago. All the same reasons. To make it worse, when searching LA job ads, I noticed that a high school graduate, with a little experience, could get a job at a Japanese auto parts counter for about the same wages as an aerospace engineer. Engineers are dirt in California, my opinion. Yeah, I used to live in Torrance. On the bright side, I said I could take a 20% pay cut and stay here and be better off looking for a new job. That was easy to do. And I got the 20% back in overtime wages.
  21. oh hey it's a re-intro... re-welcome to you...
  22. Speaking of paying attention on a motorcycle... most everyone doesn't pay enough attention to what happens behind them. One of my little games is tagging other motorcycles from behind. Not sneaking up, just rushing over and riding behind them to see how long it takes for them to see me. Usually it's NEVER. Wake up people, use your mirrors...
