  1. shot of starting ether, gas, not liquid.... edit: don't over do it, just a little at first...
  2. tsk tsk... old news... you all supposed to be using the new guvbermunt broadband.gov test... I crank 7 down, at home, on the guvbermunt test
  3. There will be more, both old and new. It's a bit early still, most haven't posted up details. QSL should start on first Wednesday in April. I take that to be April 7th. A little research for April: 4th Annual Dyno Tune - West Columbus OH - Apr 3 ABATE Awareness Ride - Marysville OH - Apr 10 Shallowtail @ Dolphin Lounge 10:00pm - Apr 10 Walnecks Motorcycle Swap Meet - Springfield OH - Apr 11 ABATE Night Poker Run - Columbus OH - Apr 24 4th Annual Biker Sunday - Spencerville OH - Apr 25 And assorted Ohio Festivals and events... like The Encampment in Grove City, a Civil War re-enactment. Apr 23-25 edit: I agree it's great to own a bike night, and wonder if we'll have such this year.
  4. linkie not work this one? http://shock.military.com/Shock/videos.do?displayContent=212029
  5. Classic Browning/Colt/Huntsman/Woodsman design. Great shooters, I like them. Memory says don't get aftermarket magazines, get the real ones. I'll recommend trying CCI MiniMag and Winchester SuperX. I'll not recommend Remington or Stinger or Wildcat.
  6. Gosh, that wouldn't be the first Utah War against the Federal government... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utah_War
  7. I was really busy when I bought it. I rode it home surrounded by snow. I was looking for a BMW or similar, shaft drive ABS etc. But this came up and I wanted to upgrade to the last year made. 07 sold in 08 and ridden in 09, freeway miles. Now I can abuse the 02. The 07 is up geared for freeway. But understand that it probably tries to top out at near 170 now. Which without fairings is like inviting a sledge hammer to a cookie cutter convention...
  8. hahaha, I like it. Odd, everyone that rides with me goes out and gets a faster bike. Wait... I went out and got another bike... *confused*
  9. This is school break week. I've been riding for two weeks. 6.2 miles & 7 minutes. I probably don't have an excuse. Although I get busy and forget stuff... I like Applebee's
  10. Hint: hook the new chain to the old chain and pull it through to get it on the front sprocket. Then eyeball the length of the new chain sitting on the back sprocket. It should fit with only the need for the one master link. Don't forget to run your adjuster forward for future adjustment. And yes, it is two inside plate links that face one another, ready for one master link.
  11. Just ask a nerd to hack the interwebz... and yes, congrats on the results! Win more! racEvolution photography Race 18 - A Superbike Novice - 3/13-14 2010 - Roebling Road Raceway

  13. I'm a fan of those extra thin crispy pizzas, and the current favorite is Sparano's Pizza, 1724 Northwest Boulevard, Columbus, OH
  14. Almost all sightings are natural or military. Especially a sighting that re-occurs same time and same place each day, that's geographical and/or weather related. I've known military pilots to play with advanced gear when they shouldn't, and result in some all time winner UFO sightings...
  15. Everyday? That's a lot of pizza. I cut back to maybe one a month. But happiness, I found you a new motorcycle...
  16. edit: oh look, I found an old accidental double post... gone...
  17. I didn't know it ran that hot. But it's installed outdoors like an air conditioner unit, as far as I know. Cars have been made with turbine engines, and those run a bit hot also. ~1800C in combustion section. Need lots of air flow to cool the surrounding area around the engine.
  18. Thanks for reminding me. I signed up and got the invite, but didn't finish up yet. I better get on that. Blocking calls could be fun.
  19. I can see that they are much easier. But no, never tried them. We had a thread last year trying to figure out if the physics of tire beads is valid. As best we could figure, yes they are.
  20. I think I'll balance mine, as best I can. Just because we can't feel it, doesn't mean it's not poorly balanced. If you run a tire up to speed on a static stand, and use a strobe on it, it can jitter all over the place. Out of balance. Even after balancing, it can still jitter at speeds higher than what it was balanced at. Balancing twice, once at lower rpms, and again at higher rpms, will remove almost all of the jitter and be real smooth. I'm weirding myself out with the word "jitter", and had to look it up... jitter - irregular random movement, also vibratory motion but jitter is usually used as a noun, not a intransitive verb, but it's allowed
  21. Sounds like it to me, but a battery produces electrical current, and an engine produces mechanical force and motion. The lines between the two definitions are blurring.
  22. Disadvantages: Fuel source, I'd say. Bloom box runs on any petro fuel. Right now it's natural gas. That's a steady source when hooked up. That would also raise the price of natural gas if everyone had one. More natural gas would have to be developed. Which isn't too difficult, Ohio as elsewhere is covered with capped off natural gas wells. It isn't worth recovering it yet. Bio fuels can be used, like corn alcohol. That new MIT process, was first run using "cyclotrimethylene trinitramine" as fuel. I don't have any of that, and neither does anyone else. That's a problem. The Bloom box is up and running and for sale. But the MIT process will take a long time to develop. Hopefully they look at other fuels to use. If it's really a big deal, the military might grab it up and we'll not see it for commercial use for many decades. Same with the Bloom box, but if the advantages of commercial distribution are high (profit), there will probably be parallel development. Advantages: The Bloom boxes are steady rate producers of electricity. What isn't used is put back into the grid for profit. (Reduction of electric bill.) The current basic unit is small enough to run a house (or car). And it's basically solid state, with no moving parts. The inventor says widescale distribution won't happen till someone like GE or Westinghouse buys the invention and starts mass producing it. The MIT stuff can be scaled down to tiny AAA battery cell size or smaller, and could relieve the burden of toxic metals in all our batteries. The world is going to run short on those types of metals anyway. That doesn't sound serious, but it will be when prices for those metals go up again and again. If it produces the amount of energy they are claiming, or more, in such a small package, we just might get those laser battle rifles we've been wanting. Large amounts of electrical power are not generally available in small devices. MIT also developed a gas turbine engine with fuel tank and alternator the size of a D cell battery. Large power output. (Large heat output also.) That was a couple of years ago. That's been missing in action. No clue what happened to it.
  23. Also Google and FedEx? But this MIT thing will be extremely scalable. 10 to one ratio on size makes it work for a car, truck or motorcycle. 100 to one power ratio is incredible. It would still be a replaceable power pack, so there would have to be a nationwide distribution system. Gas stations would have to sell them, and they would have to be easy and quick to swap. That will take a long time to develop and field. We'll see it in laptops first.
  24. I've been riding this last week. I couldn't stand it anymore. Salt be damned. But it was extremely slippery one morning. I rode Columbus to Marysville anyway. It was worth it, it was great on the way back, after the roads dried a bit, 50-60F. ...Riding past the snow that hasn't melted yet, and the still frozen ponds...
