  1. I have a bunch of UA stuff, bought it when they were the only game in town, but searching around on the made-in-usa stuff I tripped across Go's line. It's incredible they're cheaper than Vietnamese produced goods, and better by a long shot....what's like that anymore? I think at this point you're paying for UA's popularity more than anything else, so I'm buying the Go stuff while it's cheap and they're trying to buy some market share.
  2. You need the ORV sticker but not if you're not plated & street legal, but if you've got the plate that's all that's required for Perry. You do need a title to get either one, btw. No fee to ride there, unlike Wayne.
  3. The EVS Option elbow/knee guards are the bomb, for the $$ they're awesome...very comfy. I prefer a chest protector to a pressure suit (mesh/armor), I found the pressure suits to not hold up very well, expensive, and in the summer they're hot as fuck. Good boots are a must tho, if you don't have a good pair spend the $$, you're absolutely guaranteed to hurt your ankles/shins if you ride offroad. They pay for themselves the first time you land under the bike. BTW, if you wanna hit Perry a couple of us are going to go down Sunday and putz around (my buddy has a WR250 too). Won't be anything hardcore, just some trails and goofing off. Drop me a PM if you're interested.
  4. You can have one in, so when you get stopped make sure one falls out. Oh, and fuck Johnny Law. Tonight I'm gonna rip a mattress tag off, and record a football game without the express written consent of the NFL.
  5. I did just under 18k on the TTR & Strom. Not as much as last year, but not too bad.
  6. I use the JVC Marshmallows with the "Kramer Mod" to them, and I replaced the tips with Comply foam tips ($5 from Microcenter). Super comfy, block a ton of sound, and they sound great. For $25, not bad at all. Problem with earbuds is it's all subjective, everyone's ears are different and fit is such a large part of how they work...plus helmets can get in the way. Just gotta try a few till something works.
  7. This or Perry State Forest. Also, Crow Canyon MX park is an option.
  8. Expensive, and not that great IMHO. Try Go Athletic's base layers....best shit made, and it's US owned and manufactured, literally half the price of UA's. Great people to deal with, too. Their new Sub Zero line is the warmest base layer material I've ever felt in my life, just incredible stuff. http://goathleticapparel.com/ scottie, steel-toes transmit cold right to your foot...that metal is a great conductor. I'd spring for heated grips...best accessory for cold riding there is, and if you can't do that then tape a chemical hand warmer to your wrist...heats the blood going to your hand and fingers. Works on feet too...the main veins are on the top of the foot.
  9. Helmets are so extremely subjective the word "best" is useless. I think the Caberg Trip/Konda is the best deal out there, fit, finish, comfort & styling are great. But that doesn't mean anyone else agrees. The best one is the one that fits you the best and performs well on your melon.
  10. Replacing the final drive will be cheaper, so you gotta give them props for that. Come to think of it, you won't be replacing a final drive on the Honda. Touratech is probably beside themselves ramping up production on the Honda-Wing-Logo cup holders.
  11. The big adventurer tourers aren't made for offroading as much as just being more capable at doing light trails and offroad conditions than a street bike might be (given the suspension, wheel set and ground clearance). I've taken my Strom on some downright awful trails, and it's surprisingly capable. The idea, which I endorse and enjoy, is that you have a bike that will take you in comfort, even 2 up with luggage, to anywhere you wanna go and take on pretty poor conditions or light offroad if you want, and take you back home in comfort too. They are a handful in true offroad, but they're not offroad bikes, they're adventure tourers. The name "dual sport" is woefully misplaced when talking about a 550lb GS or Strom. I think it's fun to see what I can get the big bike to do, but it's maybe not everyone's cup of tea.
  12. Rode every day so far. Heated vest & grips for the night-time trip home, but going in it's been perfect.
  13. Cincinnati? Your chances of completing the commute without catching a bullet or going flat after running over a crack vial have to weigh on that statistic don't they?
  14. Nice! That's a perfect location for them to create the "triangle of light", which is the best reason to have aux. lights IMHO....being noticed by left-turning dipshits trumps whatever fashion sense you lose by having lights on your forks. I have a set of 3w LED's at that position, and I had a buddy ride my bike before and after while I rode my car in the opposite direction to see the difference, it's incredible what that little of an addition does for showing up to oncoming traffic.
  15. You've violated a sexual harassment policy, haven't you? Come on, out with it. I might have some experience here. Especially if it was a dude.
  16. Nothing near Columbus really, I either ride Perry SF, occasionally Wayne or hit some outlaw trails & dual sport loops....there's some out here east of Cowlumbus. Plating your bike will be in your best interest, btw, if it's not already...you can ride Perry for free if you do, and some of the best riding in the area are the dual sports put on by ZTR & Licking County Trail riders (Flint Ridge, Bootleg, Hanging Rock, etc.). Rocky Mountain ATV has a really nice dual sport kit cheap...you already have the light & tail light on the WR, so all you need is a wiring harness, switch, a brake switch & a mirror & you're legal (signals not required by Ohio).
  17. Let's hope so, Walmart seems better at what they do than the dickweeds running it now.
  18. That's pretty cool, good for them too going "adventure" instead of full-retard-cruiser like everyone else. I like Jewel, she seems down to earth.
  19. I rode today, errands and goofing off, was 28 when I left the garage. I can do down to 20 degrees with the grips & heated liner, and still be reasonably comfortable. Below that and my Arizona lizard blood just can't hack it.
  20. Quite a bit more than you'd think, start looking around and you can find quite a few things....starting with the best reason to shop there anyway - AMMO! Also most of the motor oil, filters, etc. are made in the US. My daughter had a school assignment to find out how many of our shopping trip items were made in the USA and we found that about 20% of our monthly haul was US made.
  21. I've got them pretty thick at my place...killed off rabbits & turkeys pretty good. They'll draw dogs out with a female and kill them too, I have to watch my lab at night cause of that. So far I've only killed one, but this winter I hope to get a few more.
  22. Looks like ass. Duc kool aid can't even save that thing from itself.
