i think if you're talking NESBA, you'll want to get with an instructor the next time you're out and ask them if you should bump up. for other orgs, usually if the novice and/or intermediate group isn't stuffed to the gills, they're good about letting you go up/down. so if you're feeling brave, you can sign up for an intermediate day and if you feel you're in over your head, or you're getting lapped by multiple people, you can bump down (or vice versa). Not sure if you've done a track day with any other org, but novice is usually instructional, so you have classes and are riding in groups with your instructor.
