  1. Yeah but they would have done poorly in the mud and clay i was in. There was no one tire that i know of that would of faired well in this short of a duratrac with studs in them.
  2. Saw a jeep with a lift and mud tires slide right off the road and get stuck. He maid a mess trying to unstuck. Tires didnt matter in the ice.
  3. Thats what i did to get out two tires on the ice two in the burm in soft snow. Slid all the way down with two wheels locked with abs on other two were unlocked and just rolling/sliding down the burm. Tires were cooper discovery m/s tires. Not the best option but got me out. Getting new tires monday already had them on order, so the broken bead tire is not that big a deal.
  4. So i took my son out shotgun hunting today. Everything was going as planned until the ice storm hit. We went back to the truck to get lunch and saw how bad the ice was. After a little investagating we saw it was pure ice both ways to get out. With no other option we tried to go down the hill. Bad idea we went off road on a slide with abs locked up. Slammed hard into a ditch, got out with some spinning and rocking. Problem was i was facing the wrong way now. Turned the truck around after a long bit. Then slid off the trail again, almost hit a tree. Stopped for a bit to regroup. I had to use my truck bag which had a tomahawkin it to break up ice and try to get my truck back on road. Got ready to do the worst part of it, sent the kid out of the truck to a safe spot. Then headed down tbe ice, went off the road a few times again. Thought i was gonna be spending the night in the woods in the truck. Glad i carry my little bag of food water and over night gear. After almost 2 hours i made it 300 yards down the hills and made it to the road. Then i found out i had tire damage from slamming into a rocky bank. After changing a spare tire out we were back on the road again. 4 hours of ice freezing rain and off roading we made it out. I almostbgot stuck in the woods and my little bag made it possible to get out and have some food/water for my kid. Always be prepared for the worst....
  5. Both would work well in an emergency i think. I love mine so far.
  6. So i am all packed an ready for a early morning drive to deer hunt with my kids in the morning. Headed out with my 11 year old for shotgun youth season in the early morning. Going out with both my oldest boys sunday for a late day hunt local. Anyone else going out with their kid over the weekend?
  7. That sweetwater looks very similar to the one i have, maybe a bit smaller. Mine can be taken apart an field cleaned with no tools also msr makes a great product from what i have seen with mine.
  8. My brother lives in monroe falls not a bad area. There are lots of apt right on graham rd. Dont know anything about them though. Stow and hudson are nice but not cheap.
  9. This is the filter i have, makes the water taste like bottled water with the filter it has. http://m.rei.com/product/695265/msr-miniworks-ex-water-filter/?cm_mmc=cse_PLA-_-pla-_-6952650015&mr:trackingCode=716A67C3-3A88-DE11-B4D4-0019B9C043EB&mr:referralID=NA&mr:device=m&mr:adType=pla&mr:ad=63962792440&mr:keyword=&mr:match=&mr:filter=70388253040&msid=xfY93mwo_dm|pcrid|63962792440|
  10. I have a msr filter the life straw is ok but has many draw backs. One being having to get that close to the water source if you have nothing to hold it in. Fall in the water and risk exposer to the elements. In a home emergency they would be ok, but for field use i found the msr better. And the msr can filter 10000 gallons on one filter, life straw is like 25 i think. I just picked up more canned food and dried food after that storm hit Buffalo this week. Also filled up all three 20 pound propane tanks for my heater and picked up a case of one pounders for my camp stove.
  11. Been thinking about doing a pistol build at the end of the year also.
  12. Yes to all lol. I will try to figure out how to fill it out.
  13. Tupperware has a life time warrenty send it in and get it replaced.
  14. Not bad martha but your guns on the wrong side. Left hand ftw.
  15. I use freeze dried when i go hunting and camping. Some are better then others in taste. If stored right most claim a shelf life of 25 years.
  16. A wife that does not like guns is unnecessary clutter to me.
  17. I get a xplan discount from my work on fords about the same as the a plan maybe 5% less discount. The f150 is on my watch list when the time comes to replace what i have now.
  18. If i could find a full size four door 4x4 that got 20mpg+ that was a decent price i would go that route. I wont be looking for a few years right now anyway till the sport trac needs replaced.
  19. I need a four door truck to carry my kids around sometimes, and i drive 60 miles a day to work. Mid sized trucks just make more sense for me. I could get a 1500 with a v6 to get better gas milage but if im going to do that the extra money would be better spent on a nicer midsized model.
  20. Over priced? Have you looked at a toyota lately? $45K for a four door 4x4 that is still midsized. Not a huge deisel guy, just don't know enough bout them to really ever look at a truck with one in it. As many miles as i tend to put on my cars i ought to look into them more.
  21. So i am happy to new life in the midsized truck market. Anyone else been looking at these besides me?
