I think the decals are only good for non-staffed park areas. For the parks with enterance gates, you still need to show the pass itself. We have the decal but needed to show the card at RMNP, Black Canyon and at Mesa Verde last summer. Maybe each park (or the rangers at the gates) handles it differently. ???

We did SD and WY in 2016 and CO in 2017. Your itinerary is fairly aggressive but you’re going to be on a lot of great roads in SD and CO. We went to Crazy Horse’s place but it was a rip off in my opinion. Save the bucks and get a photo from the road. Deadwood has a ton of small casinos and the historic district is a fun place to walk around. They do re-enactments of gunslingers shooting it out in the street several times a day, and there’s always “interesting” people walking around. The super 8 is a little further south from the historic district, but I think they have trolleys that your can ride into town for a small fee. In deadwood, go to the top of Mt. Moriah and see the graves of Wild Bill and Calamity Jane. Pikes Peak will be cold at the summit. It was 36 / wind chill 26 at the top near the end of July last year. Mt Evans will be about the same. We did 4 corners just to say we did it, but it’s pretty lame too. Mesa Verde NP near Cortez has the cliff dwellings, which are about 20 miles in from the park enterance. The park poiice run radar on the road leading to the cliff dwellings so don’t go blasting thru the NP. Million Dollar highway was great... Just avoid the sheer cliffs with no guardrails. Black Canyon of the Gunnison is worth seeing also. Sorry for the long babbling post. Mrs Wahoo and I may go back to CO either in 2018 or 2019. We loved it there.

Each person on the trip should consider buying a National Parks annual pass for $80 before you go. We usually buy one at Cuyahoga Valley NP. They’re available other places and on-line. There has been a lot of press coverage indicating admission fees for many of the parks you’re going to visit are increasing to $70 EACH next summer, so you’ll save a bundle by having the annual passes. Also, it’s a lot more convenient at the park gates. Anyone 62 or older can get a lifetime pass for $80. Otherwise, like me, you need to buy one each year for $80. They are good for 12 months from whenever you buy it.

THere is tent camping at Mohican State Forest above the covered bridge (not the side towards Rt 97, but the other side closer to Pleasant Hill Dam). I’ve never camped there but there are usually cub scouts or other groups there in the summer.

Mrs Wahoo and I spent 9 days in Colorado this past summer on our couch rocket. Rocky Mountain National Park, Breckinridge, Montrose, Durango and Colorado Springs. Beautiful country and some of the best roads in the country for sure. Made it to 4 corners, and hit 3 of the 4 national parks in the state. The ride up to the top of Pikes Peak was something I’ll never forget. Only down side was 3 long ass days of 500 miles each to get there, and three long ass days to get home. 16 days total for a little over 4,300 miles.

We’ll be looking at one but I’ll probably hold off until I retire in 2 years to pull the trigger. My 2008 Wing has 65,000 miles on it now so I’m in no hurry to part with it. By the time the 2020 models are released, they should have the new model bugs worked out. It looks nice but they reduced storage capacity by 25% or so. Wonder how long it will take the aftermarket folks to design a trailer hitch ?

I'm planning to retire in a little over 2 years. That ought to give Mother Honda enough time to work the "bugs" out of the new design. If that really is the new design I like it too. I'll probably keep my 2008 Wing until the 2020 models come out, then make the jump. By then we should have visited all of the lower 48 states on our 2008 Wing, so we can start over and do it again on the new one.

Picked up 20 boxes of 9mm Blazer Brass for $8.59 a box. Sportsman's Den in Shelby. Price goood through end of the Month. I might need to go back and buy another 20 boxes before sale ends. They also have Federal and Winchester ammo on sale but the Blazer Brass was the best deal.

It was hacked for a week or so. Tank was at Deals Gap for the eclipse with us last week, but he got the site back up and running when he returned home.

Yesterday, Mrs. Wahoo and I rode ours to the top of Pikes Peak. Reached the summit around 8:45 a.m. Damn it was cold. 36 with a wind chill of 26. Currrently on the road heading home after playing around in Colorado since 7/18. In addition to Pikes Peak and Trail Ridge Road, I think we hit 9 or 10 other mountain passes over 10,000 feet between RMNP, Breckenridge, Montrose, Durango and Colorado Spings. 550 (Million Dollar Highway) between Ouray and Silverton was a hoot.

I still use an old version of MicroSoft Streets and Trips from like 2011 Plan the route, export the .gpx file to my computer and copy it to my Garmin 590. Not perfect but works for me

Tank over at Ride Ohio just put a 2009 FZ6R up for sale. Roughly 4000 miles. Looks like it has side cases and a top case. $3,500 http://rideohio.org/showthread.php?t=22092

Yep. That's the ferry I was thinking about. The exit ramp on the Vermont side can be a little slick. You heading up to Mt. Washington in NH or towards Acadia in Maine ? Either way, speed safely.
-
Not sure what town you're in, but the ferry between Port Kent NY and Burlington, VT is a nice. About 1 hour on the water. Go to the upper deck for some great views. We were 2 up on the Wing pulling a small trailer and total fee was $24

In a nutshell, ITAR bans the export of various items (including firearm lasers) outside of the USA unless you apply for, and obtain, an export license from the US State Department. (Not an easy task). However, if you're ordering it from a US company and it's shipped to an address in the US, there shouldn't be a problem.

Tonik, did you try powersports 360 in Huron ? (J&J Sales on Sprowl Road) They are a Suzi, Yamaha, Kaw dealer. Just north of Rt 2 at Berlin Road exit

Also, and in Bangor, you can find Stephen King's old red house. He still lives there part of the year.

As you head north along the coast in New Hampshire, Rt 1A from Hampton Baech up to Rye Harbor is very scenic. In Rye Harbor there are some lobster shacks near the fishing boat harbor. Rye Harbor Lobster Pound is very good. Rt 1 up along the Maine coast north of Rockland is a nice ride also. When you are at Acadia National Park, make sure you go over to the other side (north) of the bay and go to Schoodic Point. If the tide is in and the waves are rolling, there are rocks which act like giant blow holes. At Acadia, take the loop road to the south side of Bass Island. (Thunder Hole) Looks like you'll be near Mt Washington near Gorham NH. Check the website for the mountain before going up the auto road to see what the conditions are like at the summit. 75 and sunny at the bottom might be 37 and high winds at the top.. On a clear day you can see 100 miles. ALso looks like you're going west over the Kanc from Conway. Nice ride. Watch out for cars in blind corners turning into parking lots along the river. Ben & Jerrys is a good stop too. We've done many of the areas on your route three or four times. Hope to get back up there again soon. Enjoy the ride !

IP, I received mine as a gift from the family. I would not have spent that much for a GPS if I was paying for it.

I have a Garmin 590. It wasn't cheap, but it works great and has way more features than the 765T I was using up until last year (plus it's waterproof). You may be able to find some deals on the 590's now that the 595 is out ($400 vs $799). Has most of the same features. I still use Streets and Trips to plan routes, then import the .gpx files to the Garmin. Harley's ride planner website and Honda's ride planner work too.

Winter carry is a shield 9mm with 8 shot extended mags. Put on a Pachymar grip or a hogue. Much more comfortable to shoot and better shot control. OWB Blackhawk serpa holster. Also fits in a desantis ankle holster, but is a little heavy for serious ankle carry. Summer carry (or winter back-up) is LCP 380 with a hogue grip and 7 shot extended mags. Put a 13# recoil spring in for less recoil and more shot control. Fits nicely in a Desantis ankle holster under long pants, or in front pocket of shorts in a pocket holster (uncle mikes or Blackhawk - I have both). Fits nicely in zippered pocket of my MC jacket when traveling. Can't tell it's there, but easy to access if needed. As others have said, best gun for concealed carry is one you will actually carry and one you will practice with regularly. The one down side to the .380 is the price of ammo. It's always more expensive than 9mm, undoubtedly driven by the large number of concealed carry folks buying pocket guns. Check on line for deals (many with free shipping if you order by the case). Fin Feather runs deals occasionally, but Sportsman's Den in Shelby actually has better prices many times (guns and ammo).
