Agreed. So far, we've heard that a) no drugs found, b) no "person of interest" found, and c) baby critically wounded with possible permanent brain damage. I'm open to a counterpoint - if you have one.
Quick note. Did the loop I describe above last weekend. Everything seemed okay except for 260 where the northbound lanes seemed better than southbound. At least between 26 and 7. 800 turned to crap just south of Woodsfield so I took that as an omen and cut across on 78 instead of continuing north.
Had something else in memory from the 60s and 70s. The dads on the street had quite effective ways of keeping order. No cameras were needed. Infractions were met with initially gentle, then increasingly more firm, uh, interactions.
So make the locals post up signs - "speed camera in use" - well before the camera placement. I agree that the idea should be safety, not revenue. If the limit is unreasonably slow, then you'll get public pressure to have 'em post a higher limit.
