  1. I would love to, however I have an option to head up to Cedar Point on Wednesday. Seeing as I have to take a day off this week (stupid furlough) that's as good a time as any. Not sure when I will be coming back, but time permitting I'll be in. I'll shoot you a text when I know what my timeframe is.
  2. Well, the day finally arrived. I just got the quote back from insurance, and they are going to total it out. I figured since I don't really have the heart to put more cash into her, I'll let someone else take a crack at it and try to keep it in the family. Hell, maybe I'll get to ride her again someday. Anyway, here's what we got. 2002 Suzuki Katana, approximately 8100 miles on the clock. For those of you who don't know, the bike was in a lowside slide into a guardrail. You can forget about the front end, the forks from what I can gather are gone. It looks like it pushed the front end up a little, so the front fairing bracket MIGHT be in need of replacement. I have no reason to believe the frame has been bent at all, but I haven't taken it apart to be sure. Plastics are thrashed, everything forward of the tail on the left side is severely rashed. Right side there are some good sized gouges on the main fairing from where it was pinned on the guardrail. Front fender is completely destroyed, pieces missing. Undertail is cracked, pieces missing there too. Tail section is almost pristine. Battery is out of the bike. So that's what broke, here's what's not: Engine fires up, no weird noises that I can tell. Rear wheel looks good, both tires have been recently replaced with Metzeler RoadTec Z6's with about 1000 miles on them. List of mods: Factory Pro Shift Kit (stiffer shift spring) Factory Pro Ignition Advancer (5 degree) Stage 1 Jet Kit (Ivan's) Full set of undertail LED's with remote control, done by yours truly NRC racing covers, both signal and starter (went down on signal side, good amount of rash. Due to the aluminum texture on the cover, it doesn't stand out too much) All LED instrument dash Custom license plate bracket with LED turnsignals Complete custom exhaust, fabricated by Performance Theory in Columbus Sportech black chrome windscreen. I think this is in OK shape, probably a few scratches though. Along with this, I also have these extras: Seat from a 04, was going to recover. Foam is in excellent shape, seat has writing on it from a wrecked bike. You can totally use this for day to day, no rips or tears. Extra rear brake lens, left and right turnsignal lens (one is scratched a bit, however both sides that are still on the bike are completely cracked off) Original ignition advancer Sportech windscreen (black chrome, scratch in middle) Footpeg, can't remember which side Anyway, for 900 I'll exercise the buyback option and sign the title over to you. We'll split the title fees, as I'm sure the DMV is going to want at least 50 bucks to do its thing. I'm not at all interested in parting this thing out, I've got too much on my plate with my job to worry about shipping a million parts off all over the US. I'm on a clock here with storage charges from Cycle Search, so if I don't have any takers by Friday I'm just cashing it in. Anytime after Friday I either have to remove the bike from the shop in Delaware or cough up storage charges myself.
  3. Ashley, forum name of Gooner. Assuming I'm home (which can change week to week it seems) I'm in.
  4. For that much you can outfit 10 Soviet reenacters, or if you were going for even more historical accuracy 20 Soviet reenacters.
  5. The richest of target-rich environments for someone who plays coy and shy. I expect to hear about Mr A's harem upon his return.
  6. Yeah, I finally got a chance to ride with my new Scorp EXO-700 and discovered it was windy as hell coming up from the chin bar. I also quickly remembered how much handlebar vibration I had because Ross hasn't come up with those dynabeads he promised me so I thought some new grips might help. Then I realized how scratched up my bar ends were, and thought those could use some replacement too. I really might as well mortgage the house at the rate I'm going.
  7. I already have the bodies stripped down, removed the secondary butterflies and so on. I'll have to get all the parts back together like the linkage and the fuel rail I had to cut in two (already done), half the stuff is at my buddy's shop downtown. I think I can do that sometime this week, I'll get back to you. The thread for this is here: http://katriders.com/vb/showthread.php?t=84789 If Hobie isn't a member of KatRiders already, I HIGHLY recommend he join up. There's a wealth of information there.
  8. Agreed. Methinks it should be the other way 'round.
  9. I'm sorry, but what felt like a 30 second closeup shot of a crepe being eaten isn't what I would consider good. The entire ending of that scene was just painful.
  10. I've got your 30 bucks, why don't you meet me somewhere so I can get my anime on? Or did you sell them to someone else by now?
  11. There were some motor changes I believe. There were definitely some carb changes, the carbs from the pre's (88-97) are completely different than the post's (98-06) I believe they are the same diameter, but good luck getting the cables to match up...
  12. Oh believe me, I know. There are some interchangeable parts, but the big stuff that you needed like tank, carbs, and so on are no good to you. There is an excellent howto on KatRiders.com about a FI swap for a 92 Katana, I happen to have bought the throttle bodies necessary for this if you wanted to play around with them. At this point I'll let you have them for nothing, you'll just have to get a Megasquirt and a ton of solder. Perhaps a fun winter project.
  13. The YTZ10S's are about an inch or so shorter than the 14S's. I used to havea YTX9-BS on the Kat, with the way the fuse box fit over the battery I had enough clearance to put this in.
  14. Excellent work. Sucks that I found this thread now, it's possible that you'll have some donor parts from a 02 Katana at Cycle Search that's about to be totaled out. Brand new jet kit on the carbs, I installed it myself.
  15. Well, I don't know if I'm a Tarantino "gob knobbler", but I thought Basterds was pretty decent. Arguably there were a lot of WTF moments, and some scenes where I was expecting the knights from Monty Python and the Holy Grail to yell "GET ON WITH IT!". No one, and I mean NO ONE, does standoffs as witty and well as Tarantino. I wasn't walking in expecting Driving Miss Daisy, and I wasn't disappointed.
  16. Weather permitting, I'm in. Finally back home and already changed my grips, bar ends, and replaced 2 burnt out bulbs.
  17. Ah, an original Springfield 1903. Good luck finding one of those at a reasonable price.
  18. Anything on Google Shopping that's below about 140/150 are the non-AGM knockoffs. This is the real deal.
  19. i've already informed V4 of this, but if there's anyone else looking I would be willing to offload my 91/30 and M44 for a reasonable price/trade for 03 CBR600 parts. Bores in good shape, wood stock is in good shape, the 91/30 still has a shine to it but is scratched up a little vs the M44 has no shine but looks better. I just don't shoot them much anymore since trying to find ammo for an indoor range is such a pain in the ass. I also have a bunch of stripper clips for these too.
  20. I have a YTZ14S battery in my garage that was pulled from my wrecked 2002 Katana 600. It has been on a battery tender since I bought it, every time I bring the both the Kat and the CBR in the garage they immediately get hooked up. Batt is about 3-4 months old, purchased from Iron Pony. I'm asking $100, or I'll look at any trades you might have for a 03 CBR600RR.
  21. "does that turn you on? Well, it shouldn't, 'cause that's MY side boob."
  22. I've seen this story before. Here are a few more images in .gif format since the linked article's pics don't work. Pictures are graphic, probably NWS. http://www.rockyriverwings.com/images/BritneyAMI.gif

    tires

Agreed. With Powers you'll have more grip, but it will be in places on the tire that you probably won't use. Based on my research, you'll flat spot those things in about 3 years at 1000 per year. Roads will last you MUCH longer.
