Just trying to give some optimistic outlook based on some numbers. Just keep this as a positive thought and don’t expect it to be true course.

source Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.

Just an estimate. as of now it’s just a guesstimate even since non of the pattern followed any common sense so far.

The growth of new cases in Ohio has slowed  until last Saturday 3/28 cases in Ohio were growing by 20%+ every day. after that

    Sunday 3/29 - 17.57%
    Monday 3/30 - 16.94%
    Tuesday 3/31 - 13.76%
    Wednesday 4/1 - 15.83%
    Thursday 4/2 - 13.94%
    Friday 4/3 - 14.13%
    Saturday 4/4 - 12.89%
    Sunday 4/5 - 8.13%

Based on this these guys revised and saying

Ohio is now projected to peak in hospitalizations in 2 days, on April 8.

By Sunday, April 26, Ohio is projected to need less than 200 hospital beds across the entire state.

Ohio is projected to have 0 shortages in terms of regular beds or ICU beds.

Ohio is projected to need 223 ventilators, down from the previous projection of 615.

    All seems positive,

on ground lvl I can tell you at one point they were making arrangement to convert all the closed of cafeteria sections into make shift wards to cover demands and of course to make lot of money etc, but we never saw the extreme brunt, we never had the tough job to choose who gets to go on the ventilator. Whtr the grandma with sniffles or the young dad with sniffles and large goober. They all got put on ventilator of course for more billing and money is money.

there is an old saying, it’s easier to wake people up when they are sleeping. But when they pretend to be sleeping it’s difficult.

    Thanks for sharing numbers Nivin.

I place more stake in data than headlines 👍

  2. I like the retro BMW paint.  That exhaust is gawd awful.

As stupid as forward controls are, the cruiser crowd likes them...that will prevent any sales success.  These will be deeply discounted in 2 or 3 years.

My first day of respiratory symptoms came with a tiny bit of chest pressure, a sore throat and a cough. The chest pressure was gone after the first day but cough and sore throat persisted. I was also extremely tired off and on, falling asleep at 3 or 4pm and sleeping for 16+ hours. That was week 1. Week 2 I thought I was finally getting better, but that Monday I woke up with pain in my lungs, and a really bad tickle behind my sternum/in my chest, I couldn't stop coughing. That tapered off over about 3 days and the only lingering symptom I have left is the tickle behind my sternum, but it's hardly noticeable at this point.

I've not had a stuffy nose and none of my coughing has produced anything (dry cough). The lung pain felt almost like a cold burning sensation, it was kind of strange. It was deep in my lungs and felt like the entirety of them as well. Can't say I've felt that before. The chest pressure on day 1 felt like I had a cat sitting on my chest. Light pressure, no real difficulty breathing just uncomfortable. If it hadn't gone away by the 2nd day or had gotten any worse I probably would have gone to the hospital. I had chills and night sweats in week 2 as well, though only for the first 2 days when the lung pain was going on.

My symptoms started with digestive issues 2 or 3 days before the onset of respiratory symptoms. I thought maybe I had eaten something that didn't agree with me, but in hindsight I realized that probably wasn't the case.

I never really had a verifiable fever. The highest temperature I got was a 98.8. My average temperature has been between 96.6 and 97.7 degrees. That's taking my temperature 3 times a day since 3/10. I haven't broken 98 degrees since the 98.8 degree reading on day 2 of respiratory symptoms.

I had the same symptoms for 3-4 weeks around Christmas...except no digestive stuff, but I did have a fever for 3-4 days.  It wasn't awful, just annoying and wouldn't go away.   It was diagnosed as an upper respiratory infection at the time, and I was told it would clear eventually.

Looking back, I don't think it was COVID.  My gf (who would be considered high risk) had similar symptoms a few weeks later, but the kids never had symptoms.

Hard to know for sure without tests.

No, the fact that it goes bad....gets out of date.

We have 3 little kids in the house that are now eating every meal at home.

I have been buying 4-5 gallons at a time, which last about 7-8 days.  That is what determines how long we can go between trips to the store.

You can freeze milk, but I haven't been doing that.  I may give it a try.

  5. Casinos, cruise lines, airlines, oil companies were especially hard hit.

I took a position in Marathon oil (MRO) at a deep discount.  Oil is at an 18 year low.  I anticipate some upside when people are driving again and we get through the over supply we currently have

  6. China has gone to much trouble to appear like a Capitalist country.  Make no mistake they are still Communists they just pretend to be Capitalist to benefit from international trade $$

    They are still information-suppressing, people-living-in-fear, boot-on-the-throat Communists.

  7. Sorry to hear that.

That's a very quick diagnosis of MS.  Sometimes it can take years to identify and diagnose.  So many auto immune diseases, lupus, ms, mg, etc all have very similar symptoms.  I've been going through it with my GF for years.  Probably doesn't seem like it....but if you do have MS it's better to know sooner than later and get moving on a treatment plan.

Having MS 20 years ago was much different than today.  Treatment, mitigation, and prognosis have come a very long way.  It can be managed so much better with way less impact.

Tip - If you are still dealing with the Vertigo, try a CBD vape.  My GF dealt with Vertigo for months, sometimes for 2-3-4 hours without a break.   The Vertigo meds didn't do a damn thing, but CBD or marijuana would stop the Vertigo in seconds...literally seconds.

Population density mixed with frequently touched/high-traffic public spaces and a large population of people that travel to/from China and Italy going under the radar for weeks are the main factors that were brought up. Not in this press conference but by the female physician on Trump's team, Deborah I think.

"a large population of people that travel to/from China and Italy going under the radar for weeks are the main factors that were brought up."

If that's the case, it sounds like stricter isolation is needed for NYC and probably for a longer period.

They should consider more drastic measures like using hotels (bet they are empty right now) for isolation.  That could add thousands of beds for people that don't need ICU care, and keep them from spreading it any further.

NYC is about to be a death zone. A new peak case estimate of 14-21 days from today, with new infections doubling every 3 days. Seems the shelter-in-place order did not do enough to curb the spread, at least in NYC and surrounding areas. With the population density and the length of time this thing can live on surfaces it's not surprising. Sadly.

Didn't watch his whole press conference.

Do they believe this a factor of population density alone or are their other factors at play that are specific to NYC?

One thing I will not go without during all this shelter-in-place bullshit is booze. I heard today during DeWine's press conference that Pennsylvania has apparently closed up all their liquor stores. A week ago, I picked up a good supply of Skyy vodka for my wife and bourbon for me. This is no time for a temperance movement.

  11. If you think the national media coverage of COVID has any agenda other than trying to get you to not vote for Trump in November...then consider yourself bent over, and successfully manipulated.

I personally don't care who you vote for, but at least do it with your eyes open.

How easy is it to make decisions to torpedo your own economy to slow the spread of a disease?  We were quicker than most countries to impose travel restrictions and many in our own media called those restrictions "racist."

Our biggest misstep was the time it took for the CDC to develop a valid COVID test and get it to the masses.   You know the CDC, right...the experts than Trump doesn't listen to, right?   The CDCs first attempt produced an unreliable test.  The CDC announced the test was available.  Trump's team repeated that announcement...then the CDC recalled the test.  The media response was, of course "Trump Lied."

The CDC and FDA have both done some back pedaling since then.  I'm sure that to is Trump's fault...somehow 🙄

The media has been trying super hard to make that point, but...

Fauci on the other hand hasn't said that.  Here's what he did say "there isn't, fundamentally, a difference" between his view and President Donald Trump's when it comes to combatting coronavirus, saying Trump just approaches fighting the pandemic from a "hope, layperson standpoint" while he approaches it from a scientific one."

They are speaking side by in the news conferences and seem to be on the same page from what I've viewed with my own eyes.  I put more stock in that than filtering opinions of through the talking heads in the media :dunno:

That was my take on it as well. Trump wants to convey hope to people saying hydroxichloroquin might be effective at treating this, Fauci agreed with him but stipulated that the drug still needs to be tested (which it is starting today, 10,000 doses going to patients in NY supposedly) to see verifiable results so the FDA can approve it as a form of treatment for dire cases. That's businessman/politician vs. doctor/scientist speak. Same idea just different approaches for different crowds. Fauci wanted to avoid people going out and buying chloroquin used for other purposes, taking it as "medicine" and dying. https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/man-dies-after-ingesting-chloroquine-attempt-prevent-coronavirus-n1167166

I never thought I would say this but for the last few days at least I think Trump has been doing as good a job as anyone could in the position we are in. Nobody knows exactly how to deal with this. He seems to be listening to the people on his task force at the very least. I guess we'll see how good a job they are doing after this is all over. Maybe I'll be eating my shoe, but I hope not.

Does anyone think that a business man turn politician is going to say the exact same thing  every time as a Dr that is leading disease expert?

They are working closely together, but if Trump uses  a single word that is different than Fauci, there are 30 headlines that say "Trump Lied" or "Trump Contradicts His Own Experts."  It's fucking moronic.

The media is making us dumber as a nation.  Watch the press conferences yourself and form your own opinions.

did we have the ability to acquire tests before we knew of this virus?

Hard to know. If we spent as much on medical research as we do spreading the gospel of democracy.. maybe?

Not hard to know.  We couldn't.   The test is specific to the virus.
