  1. 255 & 536 are a couple of the twistiest roads in the state. 536 especially will take a bite out of you if you push it. That said, have fun.
  2. The grass is greener on the other side of the fence? I'm just glad for what I have, make the most out of it & maintain a good balance between work & play.
  3. Sorry about your dog Sam. We went through this exact same thing with one of our golden retrievers just last year. They never stay around as long as we'd like them to but they are the best of friends while they're here. Good luck in getting through this.
  4. That was fun. Good to see everyone that was able to make it out yesterday. Thanks everyone that helped & especially Derek for organizing.
  5. I just pass people before they have time to react. That way I'm blissfully ignorant of what their reaction is.
  6. A Rebel would be a good choice for someone who would like to move up to a big cruiser later on. For others its's not such a good choice because the forward peg position will not allow the rider to transfer her weight off the seat without pulling on the handlebars. UJM, small Ninja or small CBR would be good. Don't worry about a 250 not having enough power. They keep up with traffic just fine. I highway commuted on a CBR250R in rush hour traffic around Cleveland for a couple years, no problem.
  7. I'll be at the BP (71/83) by 7:00 am. Maybe it won't be so foggy this time around.
  8. Sweet. Always one of my favorites, now even better.
  9. The article does not say that the existence of the new H2 is a hoax. It says that the "leak" (claiming the bike is 222 HP, 1000cc) is a rumor. The teaser videos we have all seen are not "leaks". They were released by Kawasaki Heavy Industries to generate interest in their upcoming introduction of some sort of real fast supercharged sportbike of specifications not yet known by the public.
  10. If you are going to provoke people, at least have the good sense to get the hell away from them before they can retaliate.
  11. Yikes. Glad you didn't get launched & were able to keep the bike upright. Seems to be a lot more of the unexpected as of late.

    DucRx

Just picked up my wife's M696 at DucRx last night. Kudos to Pauly for going above & beyond the call of duty at a good price.
  13. At least Quaker bike nights don't exclude riders (so I am told) because of the type of bike they ride. Even Harley sponsored poker runs will let riders on all types of bikes "join in on the fun".
  14. Sounds like pompous bullshit to me.
  15. I got a ticket one time for WOT in 6th gear & I had been running continuously at WOT for at least 10 minutes. Yep, I was going 78 in a 60 zone.
  16. Don't worry about doing your 1st track day on the 1000rr. I did my 1st on my 1000rr at Mid Ohio & had a great time. Think fast street pace with no chance of gravel, deer, guard rails, trees, etc. You will get some excellent instruction there. If you are a "fast" street rider try to stay out of the slowest subgroup in Novice as the pace there will probably be slower than what you are accustomed. I hope to get some improvements done on my Honda this winter in order to get back on track next season.
  17. Welcome. I don't know how new you are to riding but the MSF course is a good place to start learning the rules of the road. Turns out that they aren't rules at all, merely suggestions. Suggestions that if taken could help you live a long & happy life. Cheers.
  18. The Scout is nice to look at and is definitely way above a Sportster in performance. I'm glad to see some serious competition coming to Harley on it's own turf. The comparison sheet that has been circulating shows the maximum lean angle of the Scout to be 31 degrees & the Sportster to be 26 degrees. For my amusement I converted the lean angles to lateral g force (lateral g force = tangent of lean angle), looked up some other stuff & made a comparison sheet of my own: Harley Sportster: _________0.48 g (26 degree max lean angle) Indian Scout: ____________0.60 g (31 degree max lean angle) AM General Hummer H3: ___0.62 g Toyota Camry: ___________0.73 g VW Jetta: _______________0.78 g Honda Goldwing: _________0.84 g (40 degree max lean angle) Audi A4:________________ 0.87 g Dodge Viper: ____________0.96 g Typical Sportbike_________1.19 g (approx. 50 degree max lean angle) MotoGP bikes____________1.73 g (approx 60 degree max lean angle) Formula 1 car____________4.00 g I don't think I could ever spend my hard earned money on any bike that could be out-cornered by a Hummer.
  19. I think you're going to have to do more testing to determine the answer to your question. Please report back with results.

    Riders Down

Glad both of you are ok. Good luck with the bike repairs Derek.
  21. This is the 1st day I have available to put the new Angel GTs on the Ninja so I won't be able to make this one. Ride quick safely.
