  1. Honda seems to be lagging behind on sporting machinery as of late. I hope their marketing strategy works out for them because They are sacrificing customers (me) to explore new markets.
  2. I sat on the new Monster today. It is a nice but I couldn't buy one unless I budgeted for new rear sets right off the bat. The stock rear sets have castings to support the pillion pegs & these castings occupy the space that should be allotted to my size 12 heels. I couldn't ride the bike unless I lift my heels abnormally high or sit in a very pigeon toed position. This is a shame because I really liked the longish reach to the wide bars & the published engine torque figures. Looking forward to the bike show. I'm not a serious buyer yet but that could change.
  3. It's a toss up between the new BMW S1000R semi naked, the new Ducati Monster 1200, the new KTM Super Duke, & the KTM SMT right now. I'm headed down to Akron today to check out the new Monster. All these bikes are nice, but the bikes I have in my garage right now have a significant advantage in that they are paid for.
  4. No riding for me. I'm stuck down here in St. Lucia. The roads down here make Deals Gap look straight though. Would have rented something two wheeled but the open culverts, poor pavement, 1000 foot vertical run offs, crazy local drivers, & driving on the wrong side of the road dissuaded me. Rented a microMazda instead.
  5. Good luck. I quit for the last time about 10 years ago. I used to think that I liked to smoke but in retrospect it was just the addiction talking.
  6. I took the 250 out this morning for about 50 miles. 24 degrees to start, 28 degrees on return. Pretty restrained ride due to conditions but it was nice to get out.
  7. Welcome. Where is Stronsville?

    NEO ride 11/16?

I'd love to ride tomorrow but I've got obligations.
  9. What a concept! Paying attention while you are driving.
  10. I agree. Fortunately we don't have too many motorcycle cops around here to write tickets. The pic is definitely photoshop work though.

    NEO Ride 11/9?

Got 195 miles in. Roads were in pretty good shape. Lots of deer lurking about though. Hope everybody that rode had a good ride.

    NEO Ride 11/9?

I wasn't planning on riding today but with the sunshine I'll probably hit up some turns down Millersburg/ Coshocton way this afternoon.
  13. I use a big Jorgensen wood clamp from Home Depot to break the bead. Then I use Motion Pro spoons with pieces of cut up polyethylene jug to protect the rim. I balance by supporting the axle between two "L" shaped plywood supports with small v notches in the tops then spinning & weighting until it comes up consistently random. Finessing the tire off & on with spoons is quick & easy after you've done it 40 or 50 times.
  14. Pass when reasonably clear ahead. Make sure you're in a low gear. If an oncoming car pops up unexpectedly hit the centerline, not the car.
  15. Based on pure conjecture & superstition I change mine at 4k.
  16. Probably something with more legroom than my rr but still having adequate cornering clearance. Something without tassels. I'm working on getting my choice narrowed down but that's as far as I've gotten so far.
  17. You are using only 2 fingers on the clutch & on the brake aren't you? Remember to slide your fingers over the brake lever while blipping the throttle. Practice, practice, practice. Why would you need to be braking & downshifting at the same on the street?
  18. I'm going most likely on Saturday since I only live about 15 minutes away.

    oil

The stealership may tell you that this is normal oil consumption. Just for your reference, I've put over 9,000 miles on my cbr250r & it consumed no oil between 4,000 mile oil changes. This is with running it WOT much of the time. Good luck.
  20. I'm hoping to go for a ride in my kangaroo suit this coming weekend.
  21. Thanks for the update Will. Choice route there.
  22. Welcome from the next town over. How do you like your cbr so far?
  23. What a great idea. Bikes & Beer all at one time.
  24. Exactly. That's where lane sharing comes in. If you are accustomed to filtering it is not really out of the ordinary to slip out of a situation like this. Most motorcycles are only occupy about 2 feet of the width of the lane. An average minivan is 6 1/2 feet wide. Standard lane width is 12 feet. I motorcycle commute 160 miles a week, rush hour, freeway, Cleveland so I've got a little 1st hand experience with this type of situation. No swatting at cars necessary.
