  1. My wife and I both have Streamlight Stinger DS LED as LE duty lights. She's still LE but I'm not. Anyways, they are a great light. I have the charger with piggyback back up battery mounted in my truck. Not having to buy batteries is wonderful. http://streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=135 I also carry a Streamlight 1AAA in my pocket all the time. It's extremely small but very handy. http://www.streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=144 I have a Streamlight 2AA light with my gun on my nightstand. I use rechargeable AA batteries in it since it didn't get used much. http://www.streamlight.com/en-us/product/product.html?pid=201 And here's another light I own, Streamlight Supertac, uses CR123 batteries. It's going to get mounted on my AR. http://www.streamlight.com/en-us/product/product.html?pid=136 I like flashlights, and Streamlight are some of the best.
  2. Damn, so sorry to hear. My prayers are with you guys.
  3. Thanks everyone. Wife was helping her dad and grandma all day yesterday with arrangements, didn't get home until about 11p. We stayed up until about 2a to talk and she balled. She knows she couldn't have done anything different that could have given him more time, but she's still doing the "what ifs" a bit. She's also thinking about when it's our time and that she couldn't live without me by her side which is both comforting and breaks my heart. Man, this sucks.
  4. Shit, I'm sorry to hear. It seems like everyone is dying of cancer anymore...
  5. I thought I'd let you guys know that my wife's grandpa passed away Wednesday evening. He had been fighting cancer and chemotherapy the past few months. Jess, my wife, spent Tuesday night at her grandparents house to help out and after a bad night he was taken to Mt Carmel East. He was surrounded by his family when he went. He was intubated but we know he knew we were there because he waited for us to be there and for his wife to tell him it was ok to go. In a matter of about 20 minutes his heart rate and blood pressure dropped until he was gone. There was nothing they could do but they gave him blood transfusions and attempted other stuff as a last ditch effort and to help comfort his wife that they were trying. His wife was there as well as Jess's dad, her brother and his wife, her other brother, her sister, a close family friend and Jess and I. He was a great man and reminded me a lot of my grandpa that died in 2001. He and I were just starting get to know each other as men instead of just grandfather and grandson. I was lucky to have gotten to know him and I think he helped fill a bit of a void of me missing my grandpa. Jess says he absolutely loved and adored my daughter Brooke and I. Her grandma wanted Brooke in his obituary even though she isn't blood because how much he loved her, and she knows he would have wanted Brooke included as well. I'm tired of this cancer bull shit. He fought so hard through the chemo, the tests, the long nights of not sleeping, falling, not being able to eat or keep anything down, the dehydration....fuck. I've only known him for about a year and a half but I am thankful for that time. My wife and I would go over to help them around the house and for the past couple months she has been over 3-5 times a week to help out and take them to appointments. I'm extremely proud of her and what she has done but that's also caused her to become extremely close to him and now it's really hitting her hard. I really did love that man, and he will be dearly missed. And fuck cancer!
  6. No, only had a can of Krylon here. But the main body should be fine since it shouldn't get hit with the insulation. The only spot that will probably get hot enough to matter will be where the fuel goes in and the top.
  7. I wish the government would stop trying to protect me from myself. If you don't know to turn off the mower blades before servicing, you deserve to have your hand chopped off
  8. Oh, and here's how to do that. You can also use a car battery to get a boost. http://ohioriders.net/index.php?/topic/102374-have-a-defective-power-tool-battery/?fromsearch=1
  9. I posted on here how to do it a while back. I can get them to boost and then take a charge but they wont hold it. I took the battery of the charger yesterday, drilled three holes in a metal can, then today the battery was dead.
  10. How much of a difference does it make?
  11. My craftsman has that, forgot until you mentioned it. I've only used it a little bit but I agree, straight is good.
  12. Nothing specific but it needs to be a well rounded drill. It doesn't need to be heavy duty for building houses all day long but needs to be able to handle that sort of use occasionally. Anything from mixing paint to building a deck. I want two batteries because I have used my other one long enough during a job to need a second battery. And it needs to be able to withstand falling off a ladder or roof, which I've been known to do. I've come to appreciate having a light on it which can really come in handy. And I guess my last requirement is that the batteries be able to be used in other tools for later siren the road, sawzall, circ saw, etc. I've also seen that some have battery level meters which sounds like a nice feature.
  13. I've never heard much good about Kobalt, and a $60 price tag makes me a little leerie about the quality. What's dewalts warranty on batteries? I've been looking at the Ridgid, and they have a drill and impact and radio for $200. The reviews are great and I'm liking the features. Although I'd rather get to the store and actually handle some.
  14. You may have seen my other thread that my batteries took a shit. Instead of replacing the batteries, I'm going to replace the entire drill. So I'm selling the drill, one hour 7.2v-24v charger, work light, carrying case and if you want them, the batteries. I don't have the light here but will get it from my parents house. I also think I still have the handle for the drill but I'd have to look if you want it. I bought this in 2006 and it has served me very well, I have no complaints. It still runs strong...well with good batteries. I think $50 for everything is fair? I'm near Johnstown. Edit: added picture of light and adding a circular saw to the package. It's 18v but I've run it with the 19.2v battery. No blade included. I also got the side handle for the drill. Still $50.
  15. I had no idea Rigid had that kind of warranty, that's awesome and definitely moves them to the top of the list.
  16. Mine came with a light but I don't think I've ever used it. Having other tools that use the same battery is definitely a plus, although I'm not up to buying a kit with 6 different tools, I'll buy what I need separately. I used the drill the other day, not very long at all. I had thrown the other, nearly dead battery on the charger. Today both are dead and won't charge. I've already previously jumped both off a car battery to get them to take a charge, but neither will hold. I'm tired of messing.
  17. Ok, my craftsman 19.2v drill/driver that I bought in 2006 has finally shit the batteries. They won't hold a charge anymore. New batteries run about $30 each and I'd prefer to have a spare do that's $60 for batteries. Or do I buy a new drill with the better lithium ion batteries, or whatever is out now? My drill gets used a bit and fairly hard so I dont want a China pos. What's everyone's recommendations? Craftsman, Milwaukee, Dewalt...? Other than the batteries, this craftsman has taken abuse like a champ.
  18. Well, here's the one I made. I need to cut a new top that fits better to keep the insulation in. I ended up using perlite which has good insulation properties and is light weight. Hopefully I can try it out soon and see how well it works.
  19. I have a Rigid 6800/8500w and although I haven't had to use it yet, it'll run my fridge, couple lights, space heater or window AC unit, fish tank and a couple other things. Nothing other than maybe my fish tank would need to run constantly so I can always rotate power to what needs it. I'm interested in converting it though, being able to run off of propane would be nice peace of mind.
