Well I got home about 30 min ago. After Nightrider and I split off to head up 13 to 22 into Lancaster his bike ran out of gas. I pored in the contents of my emergeny fuel and he ran for about two mile and died again. Bike would not restart. So we called his family and they came out with a pickup to load up the bike. I left after we got the bike into the truck and shot straight up 13 to 70 and across to home. Good ride and hopefully I'll get some photos up in a little but here. Nice meeting you all and seeing some road time, something my offroad friends don't do much of.

Columbus construction zones do not equal Off Road!

Good news is that you can shift the V-max without the clutch just like a dirt bike. Bad news is you have a V-max with a lot of torque and the clutch will most likely go in time reguardless. If you continue to shift w/out clutch do it in higher gears and only up shifting. A bad down shift could cause your rear to break lose on you. Hell Mine would break lose on me in 5th if I droped the gas at 95mph.

Everyone knows redneck women need lovin too and big redneck women take little guys as trophies during the mating season.

I salute your intrepid attitude confronted with such a diagnosis. You are definitly in my prayers for a recovery that will put you back on your feet and prove the doctors wrong.

On another note and I'll ask again tomorrow at IP, I'd like permission to ride front to back through the group on long streches as I will be running cameras front and rear of the bike. Maybe even set up some photo stops like the "s" turns just North of Ash cave.
-
How ever long it takes. The way I have been trained to lead a group we only go as fast as the slowest rider since we will wait for them at each turn. If we only break for an hour for lunch I suspect it will be about 4:00pm by the time we reach Nelsonville. From Nelsonville to Columbus is about an hour in normal traffic.
-
I was thinking down 33 to 180 to 374 around Old mans cave to ash cave and 56 to Jimbo's for lunch. From Jimbo's on 56 to 327 south past Tar Hollow and rt 50 to 683 to 50 to 278 to Nelsonville. From Nelsonville we can either head back up 33 to Cow Town or head on over to 555 and back around 78. I can lead if no one else wants to but I'm not on a sport bike so there will be no super human speeds if I do and I will wait for whoever wants to play last rider at each turn. We start as a group, we finnish as a group, with no child left behind. We can always all start together and then break into smaller groups after lunch if some want diffrent levels of riders.

Mr.A Okay, just keeping you honest Look forward to meeting to in the am. Anyone know what time IP opens? I might wanna do some quick shopping.

KLR ~2000mi V-strom ~3000mi KTM ~500mi 426 ~300mi not bad for a dirt bike that's been in the shop more than in my garage.
-
Don't worry neither the KTM or the V-strom are set up for speeds over 100mph. I'll load up some of the twisty backroads I know in the area and we can try a couple, if everyone likes them I have more. If not off to 278, 78 and 555 we go. PS Not trying to be a jerk Mr.A but arn't you broke??
-
Jim Bo's? That place on the hill by 56 and 664?
-
I think you'll see us leaving at 9:30 I know the Hocking area relativly well if you want me to but a rout together for down there. I assume everyone but me will be on a sport bike. Just need to know what everones limits are? Do you like leaving the ground (whoopties)? Tighter the better? Sceenery? There are some really fun back roads but they might have some gravel in the corners and the pavement isn't perfect but traffic is nonexistant usually. I'll either be on the KTM 950 or V-strom 1000 so see you at 9am at IP.

I might join in for shits and giggles. What dirt trails are you riding?
-
+1 but as legal locations get closed down the temptation to ride illegal areas grows. Must ...resist....virgin...riding ... areas
-
Bikes being photographed and ticketed for riding areas prohibiting motorized vehicles. This is being discussed by several groups that ride the Smoky mnt area in TN and NC. Supposedly the LOEs are using wildlife cameras in the woods to photograph riders on restricted trails or roads and then ticketing them. It is unclear if the riders went around blockaids or tank traps to enter these areas but be warned. It may only be a matter of time before we start seeing similar techniques in Ohio given the amount of unimproved roads that counties are abandoning or gating off. I forsee this technique being used in Wayne too, where riders often use unapproved side trails or are making new paths.

Enough to have a t-shirt for every day of the week and a few left over for shop rags.

I've never seen 71 south of 270 as being bad in the Am. Most people are going North to Columbus so the south bound lanes should be okay. On the other hand 62 might be a cluster fuck. Honestly for the sake of speed you would be better going around 270 on the West side or trying to hit Columbus around 10am and just shot right through the city on 71. Just my opinion, I try to avoid the Columbus area all together since they drive like shit.
-
I looked at the Pacifica at one point. It is a bit of a station wagon on steroids but the gas milage says SUV.
-
By South of Columbus you mean outside 270?
-
The same could be said for many areas in SE Ohio, are the accident rates really that much higher around Coshocton? Maybe Coshocton draws more inexperienced riders for some reason? I do not see the roads in those areas as being more challenging that some others South of I-70. Maybe that encourages greater confidence in unexperienced riders? Alot of speculation here with no facts to back things up. Only thing the article make clear is he lost control, could have been a flat tire, gravel on the road or a squirle ran out in front of him. We don't even know the type of bike do we? Could have been a harley rider, after all there was no helmet.
-
To many unknown factors to judge the accident as wreckless or not. Reguardless I hope he pulls through and the lady gardening is okay.
-
So does unemployment. But that's why you save when times are good right?

Not to sound like the Safe auto character, but it's not rocket science. It's called getting your priorities right. We are a society of instant gratification. We see it, we want it and we get it. Then we are unhappy when it either doesn't live up to expectations or reduces our abitity to continue the spending spree. Being a smart consumer is all about controlling the buying urge. The stock market is the same way. Here's a simple way to see if you are really in trouble or just living beyond your means. 1. Add up all bills you pay per month (rent, electric, water, phone, insurance, taxes, plates and tags for vehicles, credit cards, etc.) Things like insurance that are payed every 6 months just divide by 6 to get monthly rate. 2. Add up total income per month( pay check less taxes, bank interest, dividends, ect) 3. total of 2. - 1. = monthly available funds (if negative you must reduce 1. If positive you need to find out what expenses are eating up your available funds and reduce them first.)
