  2. Windows runs better in a virtual environment than it does on physical hardware... Much better. Having used Win 7 since it was beta, I can say that I haven't seen it crash (i.e. blue screen) once. I was able to get Server 2008 to blue screen once. <That> was a fun day. (I am not a Windows fanboi, but I administer a couple hundred Windows servers).
  3. Yo mom: It's dark, the LEO is 50+ feet away, your kid has a ski mask on and is holding what appears to the officer to be a real gun. You're lucky your offspring didn't get shot. Keep your mouth shut, or use it to thank the officer for for his ability in a stressful (mwag, shots fired) situation to be able to recall/follow his training and not drop your kid in the middle of the street. +1 to the officer.
  4. Guessing the manager will be let go - gotta "play it safe" with the majority of the public's opinion that guns are bad. See Walgreens, et al. If/when that happens, the Big Bird is actually a wee bit closer to me than the Kroger, and they have fuel rewards also...
  5. Ownership of Maserati ≠ good driver, nor does it = paying attention; it just means they can't afford a Ferrari. Jus' sayin'. Besides, my Maserati does $185.
  6. Shouldn't be. Hardware's hardware, for the most part. Note that Apple uses Radeon (AMD) graphics in their non-laptop devices, so if you're building from scratch that's something to think about. Assuming a clean drive, and assuming you want to dual boot Windows and OS X, install OS X first, then Windows, mark the OS X partition as active (Windows will mark itself as active), then you're good to go.
  7. If he needs 4, I'm guessing front and back? @Jst2slow: you could always go with no-resistor-super-fast-blinky.
  8. Aren't there a bunch of skunks running around, too? You really should take care of that, Max... p.s. Jr. and I should be able to make it out there.
  9. Fannie Mae isn't going to fix anything for you. The bank that's negotiating for Fannie may take a while to get back to you on your bid. IF you're getting the house at a great discount to market price, and the only thing it needs is a roof, why drop the whole deal? Even adding in the cost of the roof, it's still a great deal, is it not? I wouldn't waste my time suing the Realtor. My $0.022 worth, it's your money, and you have to feel comfortable.
  10. You absolutely positive? Today's Wednesday...
  11. They have both times I called one in. Not sure why they didn't in Scruit and Brian's instances - as long as they see the erratic driving themselves, then... Maybe one of our fine LEO members could offer up their opinion?
  12. Seems to me that if you see someone who's obviously impaired that it's your civic duty to report them, whether or not you get any "karma points" for it. Might be a diabetic with sugar issues, might be a drunk, might be a heart attack in progress, might just be a texting teenage girl not paying attention. Of course you can't stop them all, but wouldn't you want to stop one if you saw one? You might save a life or you might not, but you sure won't if you don't try.
  13. Screw the Constitution, just a worthless, meaningless old piece of paper. Who needs a trial? Sixth Amendment? Nah, we tossed the Constitution years ago. 1984 was only 17 years late. (That would be an allusion to the Patriot Act, for those of you following along at home)... Note to Mags: This is something that this "Conservative" feels somewhat strongly about.
  14. To expound upon what Standout said, rinse your bladed razor in rubbing alcohol, it will displace the water and will evaporate without leaving residue behind, leaving the blades nice and clean. Let the blades dry facing up. As for electrics, I have had a Panasonic ES8249 for a little over two years, replaced the blades once, clean it every other week or so (shave daily, except Saturdays). The shave is close enough to pass the "look" test, but not as close as blades. No burn, and I shave against the grain. You could always try a straight razor.
  15. With those two sentences, it would seem that your mind is already made up and you won't accept anything that doesn't conform to your preconceived ideas...
  16. Umm, HO HO HO? I've got a package for you...
  17. Steel-tip darts, $15 or so for a set that'll get you started, and around $40 for a board. Winter in-house league starts in January at Zuey's Roundback Bar, at High St. and Morse Rd., behind the Tee-Jaye's. Fun, competitive, all abilities welcome from "can barely hit the board" to "doesn't miss shit". Show up, watch, if you don't want to commit to a team at first you could be a sub, some team always needs one. Thursdays at 8pm. At least it gives you something to do while drinking beers. I'd say a third of the people in the league have a bike.
  18. Not what I was expecting, damnitall...
  19. Yup, one. Not thinking clearly tonight..
  20. ^^^ two more crankshaft revs during the firing cycle?
  21. I'd suggest a seat and a tank to start... Good luck with this project, and keep us updated!
