  1. Two stripper clips on the enfield and you're back in business in a few seconds. If the delay in reloading is supposed to give people time to flee or attack the gunman then even an enfield can be reloaded with one stripper clip in seconds. Always had a soft spot for the .303 as my first firearms training was on an Enfield. Then an SLR (FAL), then an SA80.
  2. "I got a gun" is not the optimal verbiage.
  3. Totally different - that's during a "war".
  4. Actually, that's probably good. It would have been much tougher to sign with that provision right now.
  5. Got my M&P15 for $600 s few months back. You are pretty much SOL if you want an AR now. Once they get through stock and the backorders there should still be time to get one before any ban hits. Now, imagine if the NRA succeeds in fighting off an AWB... Obama and FeinSwine will have achieved nothing but massively increase the number of semi-auto rifles in private hands. By the time the ban hits everyone who wants one will have a preban one and the ban will make no difference until the republicans get back into power and repeal it. (*Slow clap*)

    AR-15 or?

Woodbury Profiteers? I mean, Outfitters? Sure. Take $1k you might get a pmag.
  7. What if he brought whiskey and gluten free sammich?
  8. Tell the bad guy that you love him. That usually sends guys running for the hills.
  9. And in a few weeks, he'll put them all out of work.
  10. The video explains it all. Compliance is your business not mine, but I feel it's important that people understand where they stand legally. I'm going to get the "US conversion" kit.
  11. A shotgun shooting buckshot will penetrate walls too. Think of it - what kind of bullet would you trust to stop a bad guy that won't go through drywall? Maybe the first shell in your shotgun could be a beanbag? That may or may not work, but would definitely be safe for occupants in adjacent rooms. I probably wouldn't reach for the AR first due to the unmatched stopping power of the shotgun. But I'd use the shotgun for protection to round up the family and then give it to my wife while I take the sig p226 or a semi-auto rifle. Depends on where I am when it goes down. If the AR safe is closer then there you go.
  12. I could explain it, or is my armchair lawyering annoying?
  13. I don't care if you find me annoying. I'm a little amused that it makes you so crazy. How many car parts can you buy that are illegal to use? The difference is that blue led washer nozzles won't get you x years in federal prison. The law is there for you to read. Interpret it as you wish. Say hi to Bubba for me.

    AR-15 or?

I ordered a bunch of mags a couple days ago for $13 each. Can't get them now.
  16. Jesus nothing! It is BECAUSE it was imported with a fixed mag that installing a higher capacity mag is illegal. If the ATF says it is illegal to put a high capacity mag on an SKS then upon what (other than skyfaries) do you base your asserting that the ATF are wrong?
  17. The folding stock / pistol grip "evil features" thing is a '94 AWB concept so that's not a problem in and of itself. The problem is that the ATF considers replacing key parts on an imported rifle as "assembling an imported rifle" which is illegal IF the resulting rifle would have been illegal to import. If you use less than 10 key foreign parts then you're good under 922r. Here's where I get my info from... If it's wrong then tell me. http://gunwiki.net/Gunwiki/BuildSKSVerifyCompliance http://www.victorinc.com/SKS-FAQ.html http://www.victorinc.com/SKS-FAQ.html#TEN_OR_LESS_DISCUSS+
  18. The ATF said importing an SKS with the detachable mag is illegal? I'm not trying to be obtuse - if it IS legal then great, for my own personal reasons.
  19. I'd argue that purchasing, loading and carrying the gun makes it more than a split-second decision unless you are talking about concealed carry. Gun crimes by concealed carry holders are proportionally closer to "unheard of" than "common".
  20. Why not? 922r says it is illegal to assemble a semi-auto firearm from foreign parts that would have been illegal to import. SKS with detachable mag is illegal to import. There only way to to this legally is to assemble a rifle of US parts with no more that 10 foreign parts. There are 20 enumerated "parts" that fed law identifies, and 14 of them exist in the SKS. therefore 4 of those have to be replaced by marked US-made parts in order to make the rifle "us-made" and no longer covered by 922r. For the most part this makes the SKS no cheaper than an M&P 15 Sport once you have sourced enough US parts. I'm not talking about the '94 awb. http://www.ar15.com/mobile/topic.html?b=4&f=83&t=58374 If you can explain why an imported SKS with a detachable magazine is not a 922r violation, despite what the ATF said above, then I'm all ears because I'd also like to replace the wood stock with synthetic pistol grip style stock.
  21. The detachable magazine makes is illegal under 922r. :-(
  22. Looks like I can replace the 10rd mag easily for $20, so still interested

  23. If you still have the fixed mag I'm still interested, otherwise, sorry!
