I wouldn't mind living in the U.K.,Australia or Canada.They all have much better health care than the U.S. and I'm sure their murder rate is a fraction of ours. Since I'm not in a well regulated militia and we now have a standing Army the 2nd amendment is antiquated.

For me the perfect day ride is a twisty route of 200-300 miles on nearly new,clean pavement.But the thing that really makes for a great ride is when you're in the zone...hitting entry speeds perfect,shifting nice and smooth at the right rpm,the right lines that allow rolling on through the curves....basically just feeling at one with the bike and road.And to top it all off,a nice fall day when the trees are at peek color. Like a fisherman that remembers that big bass...those are the days that keep me riding.You never know when you'll land another one.

Just do it.Fuck the money,if your health holds out you can always make more money.If your health doesn't hold out it isn't going to matter anyway.You've got the right bike for it...I 've been out there 3 times on FJRs.It's not that expensive if you camp and you'll meet a lot of Interesting people in campgrounds.Speaking of camping...reserve site 44 in Samual P Taylor S.P. in Oleama for a night or two,nothing like camping in the redwoods.You might as well do the Beartooth Pass on you're way out,it will keep you heading west anyways.Definitely ride highway 1 North out of San Francisco at least to Urieka.The best motorcycle road in America!If you can ride the section just North of S.F. from Mill Valley to Stinson Beach early on a Sunday morning....not much traffic then,and that section is a blast if you can catch it without traffic!But damn near all of it is a blast and especially in the Ft Bragg area once you leave the ocean and go through the forest near Leggit.Just do it,you won't regret it.

It's probably worth mentioning that the rider was 78 or 79 years old,which leads many people to question a possible health issue.He was a very seasoned and respected rider and member of the FJR community.I just talked to someone that was at the accident scene shortly after the crash.From what he said it was an easy turn,like a 35 mph suggested turn after a long straight away...something Petey would have no problem with. Thankfully he went quick,probably instantaneously. RIP Petey,the FJR community has lost another one of it's long time members that gave it its soul.
