The current issue of Rider magazine has a very interesting article on the roads in the Virginia,West Virginia border area.I've explored this area a little bit and Lance nailed all the good roads that I know plus many more.US250,219,220,33 and Smoke Hole road are all there plus some local roads that I will definitely explore this year. This route would make for a great weekend camping trip for Ohio riders. Some really nice pics too...as a matter of fact the whole issue has a lot of great photography this month. Great job Lance, keep 'em coming.

This is just the beginning..."privatization" is nothing more than a euphemism for redistibution of wealth. The people that do the work will make less on either pay and/or benifits while someone in Kasich's circle will make millions providing cheaper labor to the state of Ohio.We will see only a relatively small change in costs.

You had the right idea wanting to ride 147.You just have to go about 60 miles east of Zanesville to pick it up,but the esses going into Bellaire is worth it.
-
Damn DAC,it sounds like you're as ate up as I am in trying to find freshly paved great roads. It's good to hear that I'm not the only one watching the ODOT site to find the paved roads,I was starting to think I'm obsessed. But then again, maybe we both are.
-
That works for me. One of the best things about S.E.O. roads is that you usually have the road to yourself...very little traffic.
-
Not us,we put 'em in the governor's mansion. Sorry,I forgot, our governor mansion isn't good enough for our wall street thief.

Just received the premier issue of Outrider Journal magazine. This a first class magazine with great large format photograghy of extreme off-road adventures.I haven't had a chance to read it yet so I can't comment on the writing, but the lay-out and photograghy are top self. It's pricy at $40.00 for a 4 issue annual subscription, but it is definitely a case of you get what you pay for.

I put a small post on here back on 7/7/10 about some of these roads. 790,775 from Wigus to Lecta,,217 especially from 7 to 218 are all very twisty and good.218 is good, but it always seems to have alot of gravel in corners.141 is more open, kinda like 800.If you're in that area and like twisty roads check out Greasy Ridge road...it parallels 775.If the pavement is still good that is one twisty road. The pavement was getting bad on the southend last year, but the rest of Greasy Ridge is one of the best county roads I know.Have fun...Gallia and Lawerence counties are really overlooked when it comes to good riding. Just for fun...google Greasy Ridge.

Democracy at work, maybe, but nobody is going to listen, least of all governor Gaddafi. Unless you're a wall street banker...then he's all ears. The little people, not so much.

stealing from your employer?Like surfing the net while on the clock?

Do you agree with motorcycle only checkpoints in Georgia?
drc32-0 replied to Casper's topic in Daily Ride
I disagree with motorcycle only check points almost as much as random drug tests by employers. They are both unconstitutional...there's no probable cause. -
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-reich/the-republican-strategy_b_825206.html An interesting take on what's REALLY happening.

We go to the nlrb (national labor relations board),both sides give their case and an arbitrator decides the case.

One small point cfd...not all private sector unions can go to a strike if an agreement is not reached.I'm in the I.B.E.W. and we a have a no strike/no work stoppage clause. I think the private sector unions only have about 7% of the work now.If you listen to Kasich and other Wall streeters you'd think the economy should be humming right along with 93% of the work being done by non-union work places.Fact is...it's not. So much for the school of thought that if we could just get rid of those pesky unions everything will be great. Good luck.

O.K.,I can agree with that, military personnel DO follow the orders of the commander-in-chief in the normal course of action.Of course they are not bound to follow him if he disregards the constitution.
-
That's interesting. How do you uphold the constitution without following the constitution? Sounds a lot like christians with erasable bibles...just follow the parts you like.
-
chevysoldier...you might want to read the constitution, especially article 2,section 2.

Congrats silverfox,it's always good to see those high milage FJR's.I usually feel pretty good about my 12,000 mile a year average, but you make me feel like a fair weather rider,I only have 85,000 on my '04 FJR. I'm always hunting for a good road,so what are some of the memorable rides you've been on in your travels? The two that always comes to my mind...California Hwy 1 from Big Sur all the way to the Oregon border and the Beartooth Pass (US212 MT/WY).As for local rides...255,537,260 loop.

Can I just state one fact...unions did NOT destroy our economy...the unsatiable greed of wall street non-union bosses(including John Kasic)destroyed our economy. We need to start the cutting at the bloated top.Kasic would be a good place to start...how much did we spend on his porkbarrel home security upgrades? If it's over a penny,it's too much,we already have a governors mansion...use it or go back to legal thiefing on wallstreet. Back on subject...his union busting and privatization b.s. is nothing more then a re-distrubution of wealth. He showed use the template when he first got in...fired six people at the bottom and gave one of his cronies a $47,000 raise.Wait till he gets done privatizing state departments, you don't like a state employee making $60,000 a year, how ya gonna like one of Kasic's buddies making several million running some company that provides cheap labor to the state of Ohio. How's that gonna help our tax base? By the way,who do you think hires all these ill-legals in a America?Unions?Right. It's the non-union bosses who don't want to pay America wages or taxes. Are you serious...oh just work hard and everything will be hunky dory.Right. BTW,of course I'm union, but not in the public sector.I'm just really sick and tired of hearing the middle class fighting itself, when we should be uniting and fighting the real enemy...Kasic and the ungodly greedy like him.

Got about 100 miles in on the KLR yesterday...a little loop on 555,78,13.A lot of sand on 555,typical this time of year.
-
I'll be riding,I guess I don't worry enough.I've had my FJR for 7 years and it has never set for longer than 3 consecutive weeks. If it's in the mid 20's or above, and decent road conditions,I'm riding.
-
I haven't read this article yet,but I enjoyed your book, especially your write up on 555.A very accurate take on what it's like to ride that road. I'll be watching Rider for your article. Can you say what it's about?
-
Just saw this on the FJR forum.A lot of ride info from local riders in the New England states. http://www.newenglandriders.org/BestOfNewEngland/BestOfNewEngland.htm

Hydrant...I really hate to say it,but if you're in union construction and you try to be respectful to everyone, your in the small minority.I've been an union electrician for over twenty years and in my experience respect is in short supply in union trades. You have the right attitude, good luck with your career.
