  1. I would be willing to try an outdoor range, or any range for that matter. I know there might limits to where i can go with a shotgun.

    I want..but no money
  3. The sound of those bikes on the back straight had to be sweet. Make sure you stop at Ken's Wing House ( on the corner of Daytona property, near the greyhound track) for a bite to eat.......
  4. Ok on the show. I was just planing on going to see what it was all about. Is Sunday afternoon too late for you? I would like to meet you at the range and check out the 597. Plus I want to my 870 out and try out the Winchester shells and see if the different ammo will clear up the extraction issues. I'll send you a PM.
  5. I have a few car items to take care of this weekend. So Sunday is either the show in Euclid, or the range, after 2PM on Sunday. I am still liking that Savage, bolt action.
  6. I have been practicing welcoming people to prepare for a career as a Walmart greeter
  7. Good way to ruin your night, a bad pit stop
  8. Well, probably not hiring at the moment. So sprint car, Cart, Indy, Arca, dirt mods, Grand am racing I have been to. I have been able to attend pit tours, driver meet and greets, as long as I do not displace a customer. I paid to attend these races anyways, but meeting the drivers was a bonus. I work for the automation divsion of Lincoln Electric, the welding company. The wife's family has a road race team out of Birmingham,AL. The team sponsored a table for the NASCAR Talladega Hall of Fame induction ceremony. This was 2006, when Dale Earnhardt was inducted. Meet all the Waltrips, John force ( for like the 10th time) Jack Roush, Mark Martin, Nigel Mansel and for whatever reason, the baseball player John Rocker was there too.. I love my life. Ok, sorry for the thread jack.......
  9. Then I took the camper trailer for a week to Talladega. Since I had the wife with me, we stayed in the family camp ground. We still partied. We paid $1500 for the week. The only draw back was the nightly smoke from the camp fires and the constant hum of generators. It sounds like a field full of lawnmowers running. My company is involved with most forms of racing. I was able to get a pit tour and meet alot of drivers.
  10. I took a camper trailer to Bristol and stayed from Thursday before the race til the Monday after. I paid $35 a day to park at person's house on a side street within walking distance to the track. I got electrical and water hookups. This was about 5 years ago. It snowed the first night I was there. It was a great 4 day party. The only suck was that Kurt Busch won that race.
  11. just started airing at 9, but think they ran the race earlier today.
  12. I'll give AMA one more chance on hosting a race.......it is Daytona
  13. That is what I was thinking. I would probably get mixed up on the course layout. In a weird way, the swap buggy races are also kinda neat.
  14. Welcome from right down the street. The north east gains another rider.
  15. Thanks for the replies. I think I will shop around and see what I come up with. I like the Savage, for the bolt action. I would like to see these different rifles in person.
  16. I have a total of $500 to spend, so I figure that should cover the rifle, a scope, hard case and ammo. Shooting is one skill I want to work on. Since I cant paint or play a musical instrument, this is the next best thing. I will check out the Savage too. When the zombies come, I have the Rem 870 for that. I should be free for a trip to the range on Sunday.
  17. Thanks for the quick replies. Since I am just starting out, I am not sure what I would want to mod on the Rem 597 rifle, except maybe for the trigger. I am trying to find basic comparision info on the internet, but of course, whatever forum you are on = that model is the best. For around $500 (rifle and scope) to start a new hobby, i don't think i can go wrong with either.
  18. I am starting to like the target aspect of shooting. After shooting the 308 Weatherby, I went looking for 308 model target rifles. The Remington 700 and a Savage bolt action 308 were nice, the price of $700 and up, plus the cost of 308 ammo makes a 308 not a good rifle to start off with. So, I am looking at lower price models to learn the basics and to practice with. The 22 LR caliber seems to be a good formfactor to start off with. So, I am leanning towards the Remington 597 or the Ruger 10/22. The Remington has a retail price of $193, and the Ruger retail price of $277. Ammo for 22 LR is crazy cheap, like 100 rounds for $6. I would have money in the budget for a scope of some type. I am thinking of target shooting 50 - 100 yards. This will allow me to learn the basics of shooting and I could shoot at most ranges. Does anyone have either of these? Pros and cons of either? It seems firearms are like tattoo's, can't have just one. Remington 597 Ruger 10/22
  19. I can mig weld floor pans in the winter beater and weld exhaust pipes, but i would not weld anything structual or cosmetic.
  20. I can "hack and tack" welding,so probably not the best to learn from me. Lincoln Electric's web site has basic welding information.
  21. Welcome from Bedford. I would keep it. There are a bunch of people close by that you can ride with.
  22. I was just gonna type that
  23. My street has slight down hill slope. The last 2 days, trying to make a right turn from the street into the driveway = the car slides across the driveway into the front yard and gets stuck. I finally wised up last night. I parked in the freshly plowed neighbors driveway. Then I cleaned my driveway with the snow thrower. So no more car stuck in the front yard.
