  1. Talk to Paterson, he works at Ohio Tool and will hook you up.
  2. That's a Hilltop special right thuuuur
  3. Bingo. White Rice is a very impressive car, but doing high-level maintenance just sucks. The Pro Line Racing motors still need a certain level and it's not uncommon to see those guys doing main bearings between rounds when it's time. Spinning a BAE Hemi to only the 2,000 horsepower range is child's play for that motor.
  4. I got to learn a little more about how to make a suspension work better doing this article and will have more to come on street car applications soon. The big overall takeaway on this is that before you start throwing power at a car, make sure it can put that power down... http://www.dragzine.com/tech-stories/strutting-around-afco-unleashes-new-high-tech-struts-for-door-cars/
  5. Oh boy, you just opened the flood gates...
  6. I might try to see if I can talk GM into giving us a new toy to play with at PRI... :fuckyeah: Yes, it may have stress, but I don't have to deal with certain lawyers anymore so that change alone was worth it
  7. Most of the aftermarket ECUs now have some form of traction control, or you can buy a Profiler and be the king of the streets. Problem is that most people don't know how to make those work to their advantage.
  8. So my job keeps changing and I got a "promotion" on part of it. Since we purchased Xcelleration Media and they had a drag racing magazine we decided to "split" Dragzine up. Dragzine will now be all heads-up, outlaw, no prep, grudge, streetcars, NMCA, NMRA, and whatever else falls into that basket. Drag Racing Scene will take on all the NHRA, IHRA, Pro Mod, and Bracket racing stuff. I'm now the Senior Associate Editor of Dragzine and Drag Racing Scene magazine, along with being the Event and Editorial Coordinator for SpeedVideo. Long story short is that I will now help run two digital magazines and a print magazine while keeping the trains moving for SpeedVideo. They are going to be expanding my role more, just haven't told me what that means yet. Just means I keep getting paid to do race car stuff with my race car friends. That and Cordell and I will have more fun stuff to try and blow up soon :fuckyeah:
  9. Running the 2JZ at that power level just takes a lot more work than running the BAE Hemi. They aren't even pushing that Hemi really and they don't want to deal with the maintenance of keeping that 2JZ alive at that level. At the World Cup soooo many of those 2JZ cars were quick and fast, but also had their fair share of issues. Some of those things were just blowing smoke like mad at the top end. Clay, I'm guessing they set this car up to run both big and small tires, so when the small tires are on there they look odd. Rumor I heard is that WELD is bringing a wheel to market that has the offset needed to fill the wheel well out better when it's setup for big tires but your running a smaller tire.
  10. This car is going to be nuts when they let it eat http://www.dragzine.com/news/the-money-pit-duy-buis-hemi-powered-supra-is-coming-to-no-prep/
  11. Any form of racing is shoveling money into a campfire, it's just a matter of how big do you want the fire to be and how long do you want it to burn.
  12. It's all about putting the power down to the ground. If you can get 500-700 to hook and book you will be in the game if your combo is right. There are some guys out there with the big lumber, but like Scott said, you have to be in that group to run with them. The Cash Days deal at Pacemakers might be something you want to look at. Depending on when things kick off we might grudge my car up there a bit until we have to test for the magazine and light the boards. If you're looking for races this site isn't it anymore, most of those who actually race set stuff up on Facebook in private groups or chats. Too many fucktards and trolls here to get anything real setup.
  13. SRS doe, I do a little bit of everything, read, fuck around in the garage, build scale models, just anything to take my mind off work.
  14. I like to smoke crack, drink PBR, and beat hookers to end my day.
  15. This has been a problem for a long time but has been ignored for the most part. I was going to college in Portsmouth when it was ground zero for the Oxy craze. By the time I left that town Meth was all the rage. No education + no jobs = drug/crime problem
  16. That event was INSANE. I've never seen that many people at Beech Bend, might have been he most I've ever seen at a race. Got to see a lot of cool behind the scenes stuff, these guys have some balls and can drive. I will be getting to do some really cool articles in 2018 and got some unique pictures. I can't post a lot yet because reasons, but the wait will be worth it.
  17. That's like saying your the smartest kid in summer school...
  18. These guys run John Holt Race Cars and do amazing work. When my car needs the 8.50 cert cage it will be going to them. This is their family project car and it's just a killer ride http://www.dragzine.com/news/pocket-rocket-andrew-holts-honda-powered-comp-eliminator-dragster/
  19. Damn you, I don't need this but I want it
  20. Doubt I'll be talking with them much, if you're not one of the Speed Society people they don't talk to you...
  21. I'm still the same old idiot, I just now play with racecar stuff for a living and try to help my friends along the way I've had to develop even thicker skin now since I do so much in the public eye. It's hard to not respond to some of the stuff out there, but I have to remain professional. Example: I did an article with Wilson Manifolds about throttle bodies recently. They are VERY protective of their brand and I had to do my interview with their tech guy and have Keith Wilson (company owner/founder) on the call to make sure all the information was what he wanted out there. Then, after I finished the article I had to send it to them for review (a few companies require this). They loved it, signed off on it, and even used it in their marketing. Well, the hate started flowing in on something I put in there and I've had to just let it roll off my back. It would be easy to throw a reply out there like "well that's what the owner of the company told me, so you're saying he's an idiot", but it's that kind of stuff that makes even more hated. I've learned to just let the negative people of this world be that, negative. Their words and actions speak for themselves and allow others to see them for who they really are. That and this is a VERY small industry, I have no desire to burn any bridges. With this whole Street Outlaws thing, there's a lot of people saying things that aren't true because they aren't getting a cut. Now, when the full story comes out they are going to look like the trash they are and it will be GREAT....
  22. Small part, sheeeeeet, you're ballz deep in that car just as much as me :fuckyeah: Busy is an understatement, they want me to go out on the road with SpeedVideo and be an Assistant Producer on at least 5 broadcasts next year, not sure if I'm going to do that yet or not. When I get back from Bowling Green it will be time to start thinking about the 2018 battle plan for the Red Dragon.
  23. Thank you, I appreciate that. It's been a long strange trip... We have some HUGE stuff coming in 2018 that I think people are going to love. With the purchase of Xcelleration Media we picked up several new magazines, will be putting out an all LSX based print magazine and all Ford print magazine. These will go with the Drag Racing, Hot Rod, and Dirt Track print magazines that Xcelleration had. We are also going to be doing some web based TV shows that are FREE and don't require any type of subscription to view. The content is going to be very interesting. Then there's the whole SpeedVideo monster where we are going to start covering non-drag racing events like the Ultimate Call Out Challenge. My time is going to be split between Dragzine, Drag Racing Scene (print and digital), and SpeedVideo. Not to mention helping Ray and we have to try and run my car into the 9s without blowing it up for Dragzine
  24. That event always impresses me. It was crazy standing at the top end as one of the cars threw a rod out as it passed us. Crazy high RPMs, loud clank, lots of smoke, then the smell of burnt oil. Some of those imports on the chip were shaking the walls of our RV with the banging and popping.
  25. Just got it confirmed that I will be one of the only legit media people allowed to have credentials and shoot this event at Bowling Green. They are pretty much giving me the run of the place. There is also the opportunity for me to go to the "streets" in the future for some other stuff they having going. So there's a very good chance you're going to see me on a season of Street Outlaws in the future. All of this after I spent five days at Maryland International Raceway helping to run our live broadcast of the Import vs Domestic World Cup on SpeedVideo. We had almost 400,000 unique views from Thursday until Sunday.
