  1. Impressive.  Thinking back on the old Kaw 500 Triple, it being a screamer for its time in the late 60's, the new one has like 20+ more ft lbs of torque. and it has about 8 ft lbs of torque more than the old 750 Triple, another screamer of the times.  Hope they're improved the braking system...........lol

I might even be able to fit my old ass on a bike like this.  I like the peg placement and the way the bars are set up.

  2. Probably the sun does the most damage, makes conditioner dry up on leather that's exposed.  My wife used some conditioner on our chaps, coats, gloves, and I used a differnt kind for our bags and other leather stuff on the bikes.  The stuff I used on the bags doesn't seem to soften the leather like the other stuff does.

  3. Scruit, he started saying that I was not even close to me and he is not responsible.

So, at first he said he didn't see me and turned right into traffic and when they were about to cite him he says that I was far away from him and magically witnessed everything.

All my witnesses had left. There was one lady that was up in his face yelling at him because she was a rider as well.

There was one police officer that even stated in the beginning that the guy admitted to not seeing me and just turned. That officer left, a new officer takes over and guy makes up a story.

I'm really hoping I can get video of it. Was thinking of posting a sign at the intersection asking for witnesses to come forward. Only afraid the sign will be ripped down.

I would do the sign thing and might even take out an ad in the paper looking for witness's to the accident.

  4. Whatta slimeball!  Lately, every time I go out someone pulls right out on me, or nearly cuts me off in a lane.  It seems to be getting worse.  My road 'T's into another road, and is the only way of getting out of our neighborhood to get anywhere.  Its  3 way stop, been that way forever, and yet people blow through all the time on the straight through road.  I almost got hit there the other day when some beotch was on the friggin cell phone not even looking to see if someone was turning, which I was doing.  Another time a week or so ago an guy in a pickup did the same thing, only he flipped me off as he busted a nut to get away.  I rode him down nearly beat his ass......but I didn't want to end up in jail.  So I've decided to be one of those people who takes down license numbers and calls them in.  The first year we lived here people were sliding through the intersection (winter time, ice and snow, slippery conditions, driving too fast for conditions) and 3 times came within a hairswidth of t boning my wife in her car.  Good driving is fast becoming a thing of the past.

  5. I hear ya.  I loook constantly for 'used' parts for my '83 Kaw.  Seems most think 'used' means 'higher priced'....lol

One other thing I have done, that has paid off, is searching for and finding sites that specialize in that bike.  Like

'82 Yamaha Xj650 or 1982 Seca 650 lovers group, or something like that.  You can find lots of stuff by going that route sometimes.

    Good luck!

  6. Running into the rear end of a motorcycle when there is zero excuse for not seeing them, then how he reacted after stopping seems to be one of those instances where the punishment would be on the extreme side, not on the 'slap on the hand' side.

Seems most business insurances would quite possibly want to drop coverage on an employee driver if the employee  caused a wreck like that.  If the state steps up like they should, the cash pay out is going to be pretty high.

This is one of those cases, imho, where the employer should not be held accountable, as long as they handle the disciplinary side according to their employee handbook procedures.  All the costs associated to cover the victims total costs should be borne by the guilty party.

  7. Motorcyclists, whether 'right or wrong' in situations like this, if there is a collision, are going to be the ones who get the worst of it.  Sure, the biker might have done the 'right' thing, but still can die from the 'mistake' the person in the car or truck commits.

Thanks goodness it all turned out well, but lloks like it could have turned out bad very easily.

  8. When I was a na at the VA back home one of the patients on my ward had helped construct the mighty Mac.  I read his pendaflex (past records) and some of the stories he told were really funny.

Those winds can get really hard.  Years back a lady was blown off the bridge during some high winds.  Anymore they will close the bridge down once the winds reach a certain point.  I've gone across on 2 wheels and while in a pickup during some real wind and it can be darned scary....with high 'pucker factors'....lol

  9. Just speaking for my Muslim friends I met on this forum who no longer log on, I never blew any of them.

I'm personally atheist and view all religion as utter bullshit. A mixture of man trying to understand the world around him before science could explain it and man's successful attempt at controlling populations while robbing them blind.

That being said, I respect people's choices to swallow whatever flavor of bullshit they choose provided they don't push it on me.

Have any told you the reason for them not logging on here anymore?
