  1. I fixed the link to the blog but appears we no longer can edit our own posts? http://jimandangelatravel.wordpress.com/
  2. The exit strategy is still a work in progress but I am keeping in contact with the slew of recruiters that keep bugging me. Angela is taking classes online in a very in-demand field and shouldn't have any problem landing a position where we wind up. I know I can find some sort of engineering work and we also have a drop dead point with what we've spent of when to quit assuming a good job doesn't pop up first and stop us. I'm updating the blog right now but we're in NY with plans to get through Mass and possibly into ME tomorrow. Depends on traffic and weather. We'd be in Mass tonight but got tired and there was a nasty thunderstorm that I didn't feel like driving into. We'll have a facebook page started that will feature updates a little more than the blog, PM me if you want to friend us. Does anyone know of any trackday organizations in the NE? I have new tires and they need miles! And thanks to everyone who has helped (RVT, Madcat, many others). We wouldn't be doing this without you. But please feel free to follow the blog and stay in touch.
  3. This has been in the works for a few months as anyone who knows me already knows. Since my company was polite enough to tell me back in mid 2011 that I would be losing my job, and then proceeded to drag things out for over 2 years, I have been able to put away enough cash to prepare for a rainy day. But in time plans went from bracing for the worst to preparing for the best. So at this point I'm unemployed, ready for a new adventure, and intentionally homeless. My girlfriend and I have decided to pool our savings, buy a truck and a toy hauler, and hit the road. We're going to tour around the country (and maybe Canada too) and see all the places we always wanted on an opened ended road trip. I'm bringing my three motorcycles, bicycles, and hiking gear, and touring national parks, doing motorcycle tours, trackdays, seeing concerts, and touring microbreweries and distilleries. We have a blog going that anyone on OR is willing to follow along, the address is http://jimandangelatravel.wordpress.com/2013/07/03/hello/ I'll post more up as things progress.
  4. I did the same a few years ago. I got mine from a guy on SV rider. Look long enough and you'll find one. They'll take pieces. Unsavory places will take a vehicle without a VIN but they are breaking the law when they do. I had a friend cut up a (legally purchased) Mazda 323GT and had to bring the body in cut up pieces because he lost the title. It was a lot of work but the only way he could skirt the regulations. Brian has the frame, and from what he's told me of his plans, I hope to see a build thread pop up!
  5. Yes, sold. Haven't been able to get online till today due to moving preparations.
  6. Gump- Never heard. No biggie. I got around to finishing everything on this in between all the other stuff I need to get done before I move. I deleted the old CL posting and put up a new one here: http://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/3891399946.html I dropped my asking price on there and will sell to anyone on here for $2500. Max- If you're still interested, let me know. I'd like to get this out of here before the end of the month.
  7. Had a kick ass day yesterday. Double dipping I and A got me the equivalent of 12 sessions for the day, some severely worn tires, sore legs, and one big smile that still hasn't gone away. Was nice to meet up with LINK and R1 again in person too. Now it's time to see if I can make PIRC in 2 weeks work out.
  8. I'm bumping this back up, I did some work to the steering as I discovered the idler arm was shot and making the steering a little wonky. It's fixed with a new part and I'm also replacing the power radio antenna. I dropped my asking price on cragislist, but my price to an OR member is $2800.
  9. I'm going. Bringing a couple friends too. Will be arriving early in the morning, I still have my open trailer and don't feel like lugging my whole toy hauler out. Besides, my brother is arriving Sunday night and that'll eat up any chance of getting out Sunday night. Do they even allow camping Sunday into Monday?
  10. That's hirarious! lol I'd love to have a domesticated one as a guard cat.
  11. I'll still need to get a generator but I'll be fine without power, I would only "need" it if it's available. We'll just use the facilities at the track. If I need a light I'll use the battery power.
  12. I didn't get your PM till after 10 last night and didn't call because I wasn't sure if that would be waking you up or not. I'll try to catch you today as I'll be around this evening once I get some things checked out on my truck.
  13. I have a TSC not too far from me. Harbor Freight too but of course they don't list what's in stock on their website.
  14. Ok, at this point I'll give this to anyone who has a use for it. Don't ask if you're going to scrap it, I'll do that myself. If someone speaks up and wants to get it from my house or meet me at Nelson this weekend, I'll bring it, otherwise I'm taking it to the scrapper with my other aluminum. But I think I'm keeping the shock for a spare on my other SV.
  15. I figured The Home-po or All Time Lowes would carry the anchors but apparently do not, at least according to their website when I search for e track. Anyone know where I can get these locally? I was going to order a set of 10 from Amazon but forgot to do so last week.
  16. Signed up for Friday and Saturday. I have my truck and trailer, it'll be my maiden camping voyage with everything. Are there hookups for trailers at Nelson, or at least has the power been restored, and is it usable for a trailer? It's 28' long, where's the best place to park something like that? And how much is it to camp?
  17. Neat, but I hate that front fairing thingy, maybe because I don't like bullet noses either. Otherwise it looks like a cool ride.
  18. I work in the hood and see that shit every day. My last day is this Friday, I can't wait. I won't have to put up with that quite so much any longer!
  19. It wouldn't take much to make it 4x4. Gump- PM replied to with the info you requested.
  20. I had the pleasure of towing my new trailer through there late Saturday night and it was no fucking fun. I'm just glad I don't have to drive that stretch too often.
  21. Isn't MP4 essentially the same as .mov? I realize you can open them in different programs but the codecs still seem shaky playing a .mov in windows media player. I'll probably just have to deal with it but wish I could use any other format.
  22. They're fucking awful. My SV felt ready to slide out at any time and I generally white knuckled the entirity of the track with them. Three unrelated people told me I wouldn't go any faster than I was with them. I was among the slowest in Intermediate. I was given some takeoff BT03's and knocked at least 15 seconds off my time at Beaverun in my first session out. BT16's are fine on the street, but I would not bring them to the track.
  23. Selling my 95 4Runner since I just picked up an F350. I bought the 4Runner back in September to tow my motorcycle trailer and serve as a DD. It's done well in both aspects, but I just picked up a toy hauler which is way too big for the 4Runner to handle. So it's time for it to go. It's from Florida and has a very, very clean body. I wouldn't have bought it if it were a rust bucket. It only has 91k miles and a clean title. I'll have better pics posted shortly, but for now I'll post a link to the craigslist ad. I'm asking $3300 but will cut a sweet deal for anyone who comes through OR. I'm located in Fairview Park, minutes from I-90 and I-71. http://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/3820777361.html
