Tim you need to come try racing minis with us Cheaper and less risk than racing big bikes but still the same concept. May change your perspective a bit. Racing itself is fun, but I never realized how much I still had to work on before I starting doing track related things. This all is an effort to make myself a better rider, getting to whoop on my buddies and trash talk is just an added bonus. Seat time is seat time as long as the foundations are there. Some well funded team will buy one and make one-off parts for it just for the horsepower advantage. Even with a basic setup (exhaust, tune, thin head gasket) you'll probably see 10 more horsepower than FZ07/SV650 full builds.

Aprilia 660... no reason to not just get any of the modern 600's. They make more power and are way less of an investment. Unless of course you're racing in the lightweight twins class and want an extra 10 or so horsepower over your competition.

I think they borrowed some valve/cam/timing tech from the rc213v on top of the bore/stroke. I can hate on HD all day long about their bikes but I will say their customer service is right up there with the best of the best in my experience. I'm kind of interested in all those different bikes they put in their future lineup as well... If they will even get made or be priced competitively. A HD ADV bike would be fun to see 🤷‍♂️ Indian has been hitting it out of the park lately though. The XR1200 was a great move by them and now it looks like they are stepping it up with electronics. Would be awesome if they came out with a supersport or something in the future. I wouldn't put it past them.

I saved for a while and then sold almost all my other bikes, combined the funds into enough to buy the bike I've had my eye on for the past few years.

A ninja 400 doesn't really require any electronic rider aids (not really counting ABS here... I think looking at any sort of testing you'll find ABS outperforms non-ABS systems in stopping distance unless some sort of god is piloting the bike. Again, this is your choice/preference but not necessarily based on safety). You're not going to be spinning up the rear on corner exits or struggling to keep the front end down trying to manage drive on a 400 And yes, a ninja 400 is totally an ego bike. You bought that sucker thinking "I'm gonna go blow up those slow 1000 rider's day on this 40 horsepower mean green machine". I have the same aspirations on the grom down at deal's gap 😂

In my mind actively avoiding rider aids because it makes someone feel like less of a rider is like not wearing a helmet because it restricts your freedom. Is everyone able to make that choice for themselves? Sure. It's just maybe not a smart or informed decision. Unless there's a specific reason for not taking an advantage that can make something safer, it's down to ego and ego isn't the best thing to base important decisions on, generally .

No feel sounds not so great but I can probably get used to relying just on feeling the deceleration over decel + brake pressure. Anyway yeah I'll leave it on for at least a few days at the track and see how I like it. Not a super difficult fix if I want it gone anyway.
