  1. I may be in with the Strom... pending any last minute father's day plans.. I am down that way in HH all the time, love it. Excited for some new routes.
  2. I can meet folks in Carroll, or Swing'R 's route looks good, I do a lot of Hocking and there is a lot to explore there, I just don't like the crowds and the cruisers are slllooooowww... even by Vstrom standards. Swing'R when you taking off?
  3. pretty sure you have to go to the Krispy kreme "store" the ones sold at the grocery store are brought in like any other vendor item, premade and prepackaged.
  4. Yeah i grew up there.... and am still a bit oblivious to the last 5 years or so there.. as I lived in Akron, and now of course Lancaster, which is worlds different than Parma. I know its been on the way down for a while, but its still better than Akron! I don't fear to get shot in Parma, at least in most places.
  5. Was thinking on leaving for the Gap on Thursday... now it looks like that thing brewing Tornados in Oklahoma, will be bringing.. you guessed it... more rain for the entire ride down... yay.. anyone else heading down that way, if my group decideds to go...
  6. +1 on the digi scavenger hunt and cookout somewhere...
  7. ok ok Parma is the hood... its just hard to admit... the hoodwinks have no appreciation for the flamingos
  8. Only 2/3s of Parma is rough.. the north side and center.. however the Parmatown gang (and the RTA terminal gangs) are encroaching on the last bastion of goodness in parma.... the royalton/ seven hills southside ... lol but it isnt all roses there either:nono: I fear my hometown is going to be the hood!
  9. At its best the Vstrom will get 60 mpg... the focus gets 30 combined and maybe 37 on the highway... factor in the tires that burn out way way faster, the bike really isnt a save on gas... I'm not complaining, its fun, fuel costs and the rising cost of everything will shove the economy back into the hole for sure... .. which shouldn't be a big surprise
  10. Yeah.. I read up on WBW often, unfortunately no S&S helmets on there. I did see the helmet shapes section and all the ones recommended to me, and my current helmet do fall in the "round" section, too bad I like the look and function of ones that don't.... ahh well, will keep looking! thanks for the help!
  11. Was at Iron Pony today, browsing through the helmets as I want to replace my older HJC Cl-14 which is "round" fitting and I think is harder to come by. I tried on a Speed & Stength SS-1000 and it actually fit pretty well and seemed like a quality piece for its $150 price tag. I was just wondering if anyone uses one of these and can comment on ventilation, noise, general thoughts? Some elements seem over the top, like the graphics and the "spoiler" thing, but I really liked the fit... I can't seem to find much info/reviews on them. Thanks! -Mike
  12. I'll probably try to stop on by, should be nice out, the Strom could use a stretch.
  13. Rider insurance is regional, have a few buddies who use it, prices are reasonable, service seems alright. Same with Markel, they have vanishing deductibles, but you only need 6 months so it may not matter. I used PolicyDog.com to search and get in touch with a rep to quote me the best rate and package over a bunch of insurers, by far better value than any bigboys like Geico, progressive, so far I have not had to use it, so I can't comment on the claims process.
  14. So back to the weather... its supposed to snow again tonight... which means more salt, which means when its in the mid-fifties on saturday, the salt will be back again, can't win can we
  15. Yeah, I have only run a few tanks through my bike, but I believe I am getting about 57 mpg avg, and that isnt taking it easy.. I test drove a Vee this week, it was quite a bit different from what I thought it was going to be. It was fast as heck, but no where near as smooth, it didn't like anything below 4k rpm, didn't seem as nimble either. I am sure it lends itself to high rpm screams down the highways though... But overall, I am very happy I went with the 650.
  16. I recently purchased a used 07 dl650 right before winter struck. I got it for about half the price of new, and 10k miles, with some accessories. I could not be happier, I'm 6'1" about 235 and it has plenty giddy-up. For the back roads and the twisties it is a riot. Its no sportbike, but it is comfortable and it never feels all that heavy/large but the bike is well proportioned for larger people. On the highway it just eats up the miles, sure the revs are up a bit, but it really is not noticeable unless you plan on cruising at 100+ all day, but that is not what the wee is about. I also got a chance to do a little off-roading with it, it dosen't do too bad! Go for the dl650
  17. I'm in the Muirwood complex over between the Mall and Ety Road where the new Walmart, Kohls, Sonic all that stuff is, been pretty nice so far, very quiet and definitely not how Akron was.
  18. Having been hit yet, but I have been run off the road, especially on 77 between Akron/Cleveland. Just passing people up in the fast lane, and had a lady just cruise right on over next to me. Of course she dosen't look to her left to see me bouncing in the shoulder laying on the horn. See got scared and took off flying. Never a dull moment...
  19. Hey guys hows it going. Been on the site for a while, but really not to active. Moved down here this summer from Cleveland, been enjoying hocking hills, 56 to Athens and all that, as well as 555. Been riding a 85 Nighthawk 650 and looking to upgrade to a vstrom 650. May like to part with the NH, so if anyone is interested lemme know! Anyways, just saying hi.
