Think I have my plans laid out for the most part. I'm leaving Sunday, if the weather looks good ill leave early and 2 lane it all the way to Galax, VA, if the weather is crap I'll leave later and slab there. Staying at the Knights Inn in Galax for two nights, I've stayed here before it is cheap and it is clean. Last time the inn keeper( Indian guy, dot on head type not feathers and teepee type)brought me out a couple of beers when I was chillin on the patio, super nice guy. I'll be exploring the whole Claw of the Dragon area on Monday www.clawofthedragon.com . Tuesday if the weather is nice I'll be headed down the BRP towards Cherokee, so basically I'll be touring the entire southern half of the BRP, once in Cherokee I'll make my way to Robinsville, if the weather is is crap I'll slab there. Will be staying in Robbinsviile for two nights in a private owned cabin with a friend and will make daily plans from there for Wednesday and Thursday. Probably just stay local and maybe hang out at the Deals Gap area mostly. I'll meet up with ya'll in Fontana on Thursday and wing it from there also. Pending on how hard I ride I might need to spend a few hours at Wheelers one of those days getting a rear tire mounted. My tire is around 50% so I'm not changing it before I leave and it may make the entire trip if I take it easy, but that never happens. I'll be slabbin home early Sunday due to having to work at 3am on Monday. If anyone thinks they may want to join me I currently could change my single bed into a double for the nights in Galax and there will another bed available in Robbinsville as well would just have to confirm that. Each night would be as cheap as $25pp or lower. If not, I'm used to exploring on my own, I tend to find the best roads when I do that.

To Aerostich or not to Aerostich, that is the question.

I rode in a monsoon of a storm on the way to the gap a few weeks ago. 2 hours strait on the freeway in my cheap $230 tourmaster (pants and jacket) the only thing that was wet was around my collar where I lost too much weight and I can no longer get it closed up tight enough to keep the rain out. I mean it was raining so hard that cars were pulled over with thier flashers on but I just kept truckin on -

Here is my route, you may think "only 265 miles?" But I'm telling you that you will be whooped by the end of the ride. I route avoids some of the BS areas and bypasses some of the tar snakes i mentioned. Take the route counter clock wise and plan for dinner or late lunch at Cafe Rel and you will have a wonderful day. https://goo.gl/maps/ASwxR7ghA2N2

Yes, yes yes...do not miss those roads. If you go down to that area and fail to hit 348 (Hogpen Gap) and 180 Wolf Pen Gap I'll slit your sack and put your leg through it. Hogpen Gap is one of my top 5 roads of all time. Now between Clayton and that area I can tell you 357 and 197 are FRESH Tar Snake heaven and sucked ass. We jumped of off 197 and hit Burton Dam Rd. And Charlie Mountain Rd. they were much cleaner. 76 is okay mostly 4 lane, it is senic and has some bends but not a road you can speed on at all kinda like a freeway. I'll post up the route I take when I go down there when I get to my computer.

Been on it twice already this year and its clean. The section of 60 between Suches and 129 are getting a little rough but not bad if you do it uphill or northbound. Problem is I like to do Blood Mountian and Hogpen gap north bound as well. You just have to do some kind of figure 8 in that area to hit it all. And you MUST hit it all.

Was just on 28 between franklin and 129 Saturday. And they have it all marked up with paint and lines like they are about to do some patching. Especially the section between franklin and US74. I know there a rough spots on these sections of road but every time they patch somthing down there they ruin it. Most of the pavement down there is that nice grippy, almost looks like it has pieces of glass in it pavemnet. But when they patch and redo it they always put down that really black greasy and slick stuff. Plus with patching there are always the messed up trasition between the new and old pavments. If they screw it up it might be the last time this road is truly enjoyable for a while.

I had a problem pulling the trigger on a pair of pants this winter. My thoughts are there are so many other options out there that are also quality products for a much less price. I'm going on 2 years and 20k miles with my Tourmaster jacket that I paid $99 for on clearance and I love it. And I hope to get at least 3 more seasons out of it unless I lose too much more weight. So when I was able to get a pair of tourmaster touring pants for $129 vs $450 for aerostich I couldn't convince myself there were worth the money. Is it a better product? No doubt about it. But is it 3 or 4 times a better qulity product? I personally don't think so. -

Everyone freaks out about these chips on thier credit cards. I could care less. Why? Simple fact that you are NEVER responsible for fraudulent charges. I've prob had thousands of dollars of fraudulent charges on my CC'S over the years and a simple phone call and they are reversed with in 48 hours and a new card is on it way to me. I don't loose any sleep over it. Another tip dobt use your debit card any where other than the bank that issued it to you, you DO NOT want thieves to have access you YOUR money.

Me and my son went on a deep sea fishing charter today and it was a blast. He caught a huge grouper but couldn't keep it because it was out of season. But we brought back plenty to eat.
