We have a local cruiser group(Knox county area) that me @Namdum68 and the mrs. ride with occasionally. Very slow group (talking speed limit here) but they ride to some cool places and see cool stuff sometimes. Not always curvy roads and sometimes well just ride to get icecream or somthing. But they are good folks and sometimes nice to just go for a afternoon cruise. I'll start posting up those rides too. Also most know Saturdays are hard for me to get out most of the time. So I'll take the lead on some Sunday rides this year when I can.

I like this idea of some more average paced rides. While most know I can hang with some of the faster guys that's not what I want to do every time I hit the road. One of the rides last year I show up and say I'd like a medium fast pace. All I was in the mood for that day. So somone agreed to take on a group at that pace. Think there was 5 of us. I take up sweep position keeping maybe a 20 over limit pace myself. Before I knew it the other 4 were gone. I wick it up to 80-90 still not seeing the next guy. Only when I start hitting $1.20 in the straits did I start realing them in. That's not a medium fast pace. Based on that I'm apprehensive to invite folks that aren't OG's on rides like that. So some average paced rides will be a nice change for some. Then the faster guys can post up thier spirited rides too with the disclaimers that are appropriate. Need to check our egos and attitudes at the door and make this joint feel welcome to all with open armd again. Instead of getting stuck in our cliques, habits and not keep things behind closed doors. And ladies and germs when Tonik says we are dying he speaks the truth. If OR keeps going in the direction it's going it's will disappear forever. Still might unless we can rekindle the enthusiasm and comrodery of the group and make it appealing to folks that want to put on the time and resources to keep it alive.
  3. Slow your roll youngster. There will be a good time to hit the Nickle mid season. Early in the year isn't it. Its dirty, slick, water seepage and just a mess. Ease into the season. Do some local roads your familiar with and knock the cob webs off. Seen plenty over enthusiastic folk go out too early on the twisties and get burnt.
  4. Definitely hit up Mike @RidersDiscount via PM on here or call him. He'll give you much better prices than listed on thier web site.
  5. I rather enjoy the gap areas atmosphere especially the last couple times I've gone down and stayed at the resort/campgrounds right at the dragon. Last fall I went down by myself and camped in my little tent and enjoyed the fidey races and camp fire at night with a lot of like minded folks. Get up in the morning listening to sights and sounds of bikes and riders. Head to the grill fro a hot breakfast till the morning dew lifts and temps come up. Kinda relaxes me just thinking about it. Meet a few new friends every time i do that. Take a couple days to get there(twisties), couple nights at the dragon campground then a couple days ride home (twisties)sounds like the perfect extended weekend to me.
  6. He's already got a deposit in on another Jap Scrap Rice Burner.
  7. id love to do that but only have one week of vacation to use for a bike trip and that's a minimum a 2 week trip
  8. I'm looking at going down the week/weekend after the 4th of July. Sometime between the 6th and 12th. Very tentative haven't gotten time off approved yet. Not planning a group thing because I might be meeting other friends down there. So like I said it's a very tentative date and plan. Mostly likely 2 nights in the area and the rest nomad back up the BRP for the trip home.
  9. Price check in the boot isle. You have a PM.
  10. Bourbon trail is cool. We've done it twice. Once in the car and once on the bikes. Get the little stamp passport book and when you get it stamped at all the distilleries you get a free t shirt.
  11. I kinda did this. Bought new klim gear. Gained weight. Now i need to loose the weight so it fits me again
  12. Made more money last year than we ever have and got back 3 times more on out taxes this year than I was expecting. #thankstrump
  13. I completely fell off the wagon. Was on vacation half the days since before thanksgiving took 3 weeks worth of cruises and spent 2 weeks at Florida resorts. All I did was eat and drink like fish. Need to get back in the grove of what I know I need to do. Need to cleanse my system now for the next few weeks. Till I recover from a surgery I need to have in couple weeks and I can start working out again.
  14. I dropped them after one year too. Some jack ass at the dyno day last spring was trying to talk me into coming back. Saying they have fixed all thier issues. Glad I choose to ignore him.
  15. Just got back from Hawaii and the west coast people are freaking out out there. Maybe 1 out of 4 people walking around in the airports with mask on.
  16. Love my Nomar! Had buyer remorse right after I bought it but after I broke it twice and Nomar sent me replacement parts without cost or questions I realized it's a tool for life and I'm now content with my purchase. Figure in another couple years I'll break even on my investment.
  17. Late to the game here but thought I'd share my wifes bike progression over the years. ... She stared with a vstar 250 great for learning but once she had it down and knew what she was doing we quickly realize how anemic it was almost to dangerous levels and we made a mistake. The bike was just too light to be stable at speeds, or in any kind of cross wind it was all over the place. On the open road it didn't have enough power to get out of its own way. One time on a 4 lane(non interstate)she was attempting to over take a semi at maybe 65mph. She got beside the semi and stayed there, took a few miles to make the pass. I gave her hell at the net stop saying if that truck would have made a bad move or lost tire she would have been dead. Her reply made the decision to get rid of that turd. She said "I had it wide open" she hit the side draft off the truck and the bike just hit a wall. Around town this bike would be fine but anything over 45 mph i would strongly discourage it. She then went to a Honda VLX600, great bike pretty much bullet proof. 100lbs heavier than the 250 and almost twice the power. She rode that for several years. then she wanted a more all day bike to ride. One more for the hiway and open road so we went with the vstar 1100. It was a okay bike for her although "I" hated it. Really heavy for what it was carberated and air cooled, don't regret buying it but she wanted something different eventually. She now has here Indian Scout and WOW! what a bike. Lots of power, perfect size and comfort for her. That thing still impresses me. Can't think of a better bike for her now.
  18. @Howabusa better put some ice/snow bars on there, if not you gutters could get ripped off.
