I read an article on the web somewhere (so it MUST be true) written by an attorney who goes to court all the time as a motorcycle expert. The short story is that he DID mention that even if someone hits you, the court can examine if what YOU were doing means you were more likely to get injured. You're culpable for your own actions, and it's much easier to sue if you were being law abiding and as safe as possible. Even if it's only "less damages" when the rides wins the lawsuit, what percentage of this accident was the motorcyclist's fault? The defense for the losing side will almost certainly say that the rider contributed to the accident significantly (and they'll be correct). That said, I still hope they throw the book at the driver. Shit aint right.

We skipped the gas chamber in basic, as it was too cold that day. I DID have an experience in high school, though. So, in the cafeteria, right when the bell rang to end the lunch period, a huge mass of hundreds of people all get up to move towards the doors. I could see everyone in front of me coughing as they reached a certain spot. I was pretty much stuck in the herd, so I couldn't stop or evade that spot, plus I didn't really realize what was going on. Sure enough, soon as I reached that spot, I started coughing involuntarily, too, throat tightened up like I was being choked, eyes started watering, etc. It's the easiest, pussiest experience ever with mace, and it was enough for me to know I don't wanna do anything harder
