  1. That's gospel in the Navy. You don't fuck with the people that cook your food or wash your clothes. In the civilian workplace, adding in the people that handle your IT seems like a good rule
  2. So my wife and I are trying to sell the condo, I hate knowing that people are going through my shit when I'm not around. Also, I want REAL feedback from prospective buyers, not the one-sentence that the realtor types into the feedback box on the form. I did some googling last night and found isentry (it's for mac, although I'm sure there are comparable things for PC). I DL'd it (free, of course), twiddled with settings, and in 5 minutes, it was up and running. This thing is awesome! It's basically just motion-activated video software. I have my laptop on top of my entertainment center with the HDMI cable plugged into the TV, like it's a media computer, but the camera is pointing at the front door. When someone comes in... Bingo! It triggers the video to start. It stops a couple of seconds after when it stops seeing motion. I set the directory to save the videos as my dropbox folder, so now I can snoop on who's looking at the condo. I love it! Oh yeah, I had to remember to turn off power save/sleep mode, and to set the screen to sleep, too. And I covered up the little telltale green light next to the facetime cam. For a free program, and 5 minutes of set-up, I'm very pleased with how well it works. Anyone else have something like this?
  3. 2, I think. I could understand that the data-gatherers know I have an NC700X. That's not too much of a stretch.... But do you think that Geico actually has lots of little animations of the guy riding into the frame on different bikes?
  4. I like the idea of printing up a fake parking ticket as a warning and leaving it on her windshield. But an official complaint is probably a better idea. Go to her supervisor and ask him/her to have a 30-second conversation. That's probably all it'll take.
  5. Our place is on the market and we have yet to receive an offer Two showings today, though, so here's hoping.
  6. If this gets moved to Sunday, I'd be able to make it! Until Rosh Hashanah dinner at my mom's house, of course Stupid softball tournament
  7. Sounds like a free $1,000 to me. Go get a high estimate and you're all set!
  8. Aren't smartphones awesome? Keep ya from being bored!
  9. So, there I am, reading an article on Google's new logo/font change, and a Geico ad comes up: And lo and behold, that's an NC700X in the ad, and it's even the same color as mine. Is that targeted at me because they know I've done searches and stuff, or is that simply the bike Geico used in their ad?
  10. At least no one was hurt. Someone's getting a big, fat insurance payout.
  11. I read somewhere that 70% of helmet impacts are on the chin bar. That said, at least you're wearing one, even if it's not a full-face. welcome aboard!
  12. a 250 or 300 doesn't give much "oomph" on the highway if you want to pass someone, though, does it?
  13. If my softball tournament gets cancelled, this is the ride down I'll be taking. 10 over on the slab is my preferred pace and skill level
  14. Whoops! not sure why I said that.... 636 is a fine bike I'm sure, but my back hurts just thinking about it
  15. drool. the 2012-2015 Ninja 650's are on my shortlist of bikes I'd like to have
  16. If you want to borrow an NC700X for the day, let me know
  17. I won't be able to make it... I have a yearly all-day long softball tournament On the off-chance that they have enough guys that they won't need me, I'll chime back in.
  18. The trick to getting a good deal is to be ready to pounce. Go to the bank NOW and get your cash out, so that when a steal comes along, you can jump on it.
  19. I can personally vouch for Pauly, as he's work on several of my bikes (3, now, i think?). I've also heard good things about Whaler. And Hoblick/CSC has an excellent rep as well. Any of these guys you take it to will treat you right.
  20. I never got a chick preggo, so I sure hope I don't ever take a spill, either
  21. I've heard good things about Sugru, but I've never used it either. And I don't want something that looks cheap.... Play-Doh on my motorcycle isn't what I'm going for As for a Sena bluetooth.... That won't open my garage door or the gate or work, though it would control my music.
  22. I'm getting tired of taking off my Pebble smartwatch and putting it around my handlebars (Or currently, my brake reservoir) to use as a remote for my music. So I spent $30 and ordered a bluetooth remote from Amazon. Normally, I'd probably just sticky-velcro it to the handlebars for the ease of grab-and-go. But come to think of it, I'd also like to attach my garage door opener and the opener for the gate at work, so I don't have to fish for the button through my pocket while sitting there. That makes three small electronic devices (each the size of a garage door opener or small, like a fob) that I need to attach to the bike. Any suggestions on the best way to do this? Mount individually? Fab up some kind of "pod" that will hold all three, and then just stick on the pod? Also, what's the best way to stick? I'm not thrilled about putting things with adhesive on my bike, though of course I will if that's what works out best... For something like this, functionality (of the music remote, at least) will trump looks / having a clean-up project later to de-stick it when I sell the bike.
  23. Funny you should mention that... I just sent RITA $1600
