  1. I have friends that have tried similar stunts. Mid-Ohio vintage days and Yamahopper's ftw. And yes this is straight outa the camera, no photoshop.
  2. You need to get that thing on a diet. I've got my Sportclassic down to 375 lbs wet.
  3. Hit me with a pm, I may be able to help.
  4. I got a full kit from Motorcycle Superstore years ago. Got a set of like 60 in a bunch of different sizes. I unfortunately gave them all to a buddy with a speed triple after I crashed my Sprint. Can't really ask for them back at this point. Sorry. You need the 9.48mm diameter shims. Hot Cams still makes the quick index case. http://www.bikebandit.com/aftermarket-parts/motorcycle-engine-and-exhaust/valve-shim-kits-refills-universal/hot-cams-valve-shim-kit?m=147313
  5. You need a guy that 6'2"-6'3" that way depending on what shoes you wear you can both be the tallest in the house.
  6. I had done the racetech valves and springs in mine. Changed the rear shock for an Ohlins. If you go on the racetech website you can do their spring finder and input your info to get their recommendations for spring weight and it worked out perfect for me. Changing them is not hard but a few specific tools are needed. That oil service syringe makes it a ton easier.
  7. You'd think he owned a Ducati or something.
  8. I searched my toolbox and found my old timeslip. Guess the years sped me up by a tenth. RT. 0.692 60'. 1.971 1/8th. 7.835@91.66mph 1000'. 10.186 1/4m. 12.209@110.74
  9. It's been roughly 16 years since I've had any vehicle on the drag strip. Last bike I ran was a 1985 Honda Interceptor 1000, best I could ever get was a 12.1@110mph in the 1/4. The car I had was much slower. I figure the sportclassic should be able to go about as fast as the Honda did (hopefully). Its 150lbs lighter for about the same HP and torque numbers as the Honda but it will suffer due to the fact that it's a nearly 4 inches shorter wheelbase and my personal weight has certainly not stayed the same since back then.
  10. Heck I would be happy to be in the low 12's with any of my bikes. One of these days I would like to take the sportclassic down the track just to see what it can really do. I gotta hope the light weight would overcome the lack of HP numbers.
  11. It's unfortunately in need of repairs. One of these days I need to send it out and get the barrel worked on, the inside of the bore is in real bad shape.
  12. This only works if you own a gun with a flat top slide. All of my handguns have round slides or exposed round barrels.
  13. For the people thinking she would starve if you stopped feeding her. There are roughly 900 extra lbs on her if you're generous with her ideal weight. At 3500 calories per pound of fat = 3,150,000 surplus available calories. In a theoretical word of a 2000 calorie diet she could survive on body fat for 1575 days. I will gladly admit that I am no where near a healthy weight for my size but situations like mentioned in this thread baffle me. Once a person has eaten themselves immobile, the people around them should be the ones responsible for the results.
  14. I rode for about 35 miles out of the hundred plus I wanted to do this afternoon. Dang friggin windy out today.
  15. What color you getting. I have my Red side bags for sale still if you need some.
  16. I have to do this to my Sportclassic this year before I put it back on the road. Ick. On the plus side that new Multistrada I picked up now has 400 miles on it and I finally figured out how to make all the bluetooth farkles talk to each other. This will be the first time in 25 some odd years of riding that I will have music in my helmet, well that and the bitching Betty from the GPS yelling at me when I miss a turn. Gonna be a fun year of riding from the looks of it.
  17. The stuff is miserably expensive but check out Devcon 11770. It's a white ceramic infused epoxy coating designed to seal metal in high wear environments. I've used a similar product from them years ago to rebuild bearing surfaces in aluminum and the stuff is amazing. https://www.amazon.com/Devcon-11770-White-Brushable-Ceramic/dp/B001HWAQW2/ref=sr_1_1?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1487608229&sr=1-1&keywords=devcon+11770#feature-bullets-btf
  18. Looking to sell my side bags from my 2006 Triumph Sprint, asking $450 for the pair for pickup(preferred), shipping would be actual cost. They were not on the bike when I totaled it so they are in pretty good shape. They are the Sunset Red color but the panels can be replaced for different color bikes. Not sure if they are the same bags for later model years though. The one bag has a fair dent in the paint, looks kinda like a scratch but it's indented and the paint is still in it, see the photos. Please don't judge me on the bug juice. They come with one key for the locks. Unfortunately the brackets and mounting hardware got really messed up in the crash so this is for just the bags.
  19. You got the same problem I do, I have had those valve covers off on my bikes to do adjustments and I can never seem to find valve springs in there. Must be that terrible Ducati workmanship and they just forgot to put some in the motor.
  20. You must have never owned a Japanese dirt bike with a plastic tank. I have owned or worked on several going back as far as an '82 yz125 and the plastic tanks have always been damaged by putting fuel in them. They warp, fade, leach both liquid and vapors. Why do you think the decals on plastic tanks have perferations in them, it's to let the fuel out from under the sticker to slow the damage to the glue. It's been a known problem since the beginning of plastic tanks and the manufacturers refuse to admit they don't work. Believe me when I say it's not just a Ducati problem. KTM, Aprilia, Triumph all have issues with fuel damaging their plastic tanks and I'm sure there are more I'm not aware of.
  21. I have important shit to do. Like be at work. Somebody's gotta support the leaches to the system.
  22. I'm certain that's true but when was the last time the military listened to what the individual soldier needed and reacted to it both quickly and with an actual result that would be helpful? Most things military and in life in general are decided by people sitting in committee and not by the guy who actually has something to lose, the choices are made to best protect the nameplate on a cushy desk chair.
  23. This is really dependent on who your fighting. If you are fighting a mainline army, wounded soldiers become a logistics problem with the opposite side tying up resources and manpower trying to save their lives. 5.56 is fantastic at this. If your fighting disorganized rebels, warlords and Muslim insurgents that have no respect for even their own lives, wounding a person doesn't help. They will just leave them behind to slowly bleed out while taking pot-shots at anything that moves in the area. Those guys are much better off doa with a 30cal hole in them.
