There's an old addage that riders/racers use...."I'd rather sweat than bleed". The protective gear wont be the most comfortable stuff, but you dress for the crash...not the ride

I have Icon padded shorts to wear under whatever pants I ride in, which is nice since they'd likely stay planted underneath no matter if the suit/pants moved around some in a crash. A 2 piece suit seems like it may be more versatile since you can wear the jacket with other types of pant, and vice versa. Pricewise, I'm not sure how they compare to 1 piece suits as I've never sought out a 2 piece - but seems for an occasional trackday guy, the 2 piece would give you more options for your money. The hypersport pants look plenty good enough for some novice tracktime, and I wouldn't worry about kneedragging too much your first day....that will come in time as you get better with body position and corner speed.

Congrats on the Kawi. And albeit dripping with sex appeal, the Ape doesn't serve you ( especially in correlation to it's pricetag ) if it's problematic and parked. Issues like that are exactly what steered me from new BMWs and Ducs - down to it, I need a bike that will put out....every time the urge strikes. Post up pics of the new Ninja. Probably not the greatest fit or quality, but it would technically pass tech inspection. I would seriously consider trying on suits before you commit to ordering a cheap alternative. Better fit = better protection

I can't speak for all of Pekin's clients, but I've had nothing but good experiences with them. Cheapest premiums I could find on big limit policies. I had a pretty severe front side impact claim on my truck last year that they paid without question. $8k claim paid in full to the bodyshop of my choosing, and never questioned me about anything but the circumstances behind the accident. So they've got my business until I can find a reason to search elsewhere
