  1. The XR seems to be one of the best choices for sport touring with BMW. I just didn't want another I-4, so I opted to shop for a boxer or Vtwin...that's when I found the GT. Not trying to sway you from the Bavarian bike, but I doubt you would be disappointed with the Sprint.
  2. The Sprint's pull is VERY linear, yet torquey. That triple is a beautiful combination between an inline 4 and a twin -- best of both worlds, in my opinion
  3. I was surfing BMW and Duc last year, and swore my heart was set on an R1200RS or Multistrada....but their pricetags left me hesitating ( thankfully ). Then I found a 2011 Spring GT in December, and I don't regret buying it one bit. Saved me well over $12k in comparison, and it's an awesome bike. It doesn't have near the electronics that the other euro's offer, but with just a few mods it will do all I ask of it. It's quite nimble for it's weight/wheelbase, and the triple helps keep it on a narrower scale compared to it's bigger tourer competitors. Mine has the OEM touring screen option, and it does fairly well at keeping the wind off of my helmet at speed. The later model Sprints are supposed to have redesigned rear hubs ( iirc ) so they're less maintenance intensive there. I believe 2011 is that last year these were available here in the US, so you wont find anything newer in the Sprint line here.
  4. This. That's a huge loss. @what how long have you been at it?
  5. Is it attack Sam day or some shit? Let the man have a bad day already
  6. You just did. Chime in with what group you'd like to ride with ( slow, med, fast ) so Derek has an idea of the headcount
  7. Welcome. Diggin' the café Thruxie
  8. Perfect. I dont need donuts, and if you could kick about 60 pounds out of my ass I would be forever grateful
  9. I think you misunderstood. I took it as we we're all to take turns punching Tonik in the pie hole?
  10. Good advice in here Jack. Glad you opted to expose yourself with the vid and in keeping an open mind so other's could help critique your riding. And like I said, we can get together and work on some stuff 1on1 to help, but your fundamentals will truly be best learned through the MSF course. Your shifts should be quick and crisp, no need to rev the bike up and slide the clutch lever out once you're moving and upshifting from 1st gear. Just a quick throttle close/open as you pull/release the clutch lever while you upshift, but in time it gets easier. Remember what I said about developing proper muscle memory? Will all become 2nd nature once you practice enough. Just keep that open mind when you take the course, there may be a few bad habits that will need broken with how they're expecting you to ride.
  11. Pekin has treated us well. Well enough in fact, that we changed agencies after 14 years to keep Pekin, as our previous agent just quit carrying it
  12. Wife and I insure all of our bikes and vehicles through Pekin. Decently low deductables with big limits. Had a costly comprehensive claim on my truck last year and they paid it without a hitch. Of course our MVRs, age, marriage, child, multi-policy discounts, and lack of claims have all played a part in our premiums too.

    Tank baby

She caught us all by surprise that day. She wasn't the least bit apprehensive about approaching a random group of bikers. Met her and Ryan's group ( Apex riders ) at BW3's a time or 2. They both seemed like good folk. RIP TankBaby
  14. You are tolerant, but not always tolerable....nor bromanceable. I've just gotten a kick out of heckling you since you tend to heckle others. But I'm trying Jim. I'm trying real hard to be as tolerant as you are, sir
  15. He's got crafty, pro, knifesmithing skills. Loving the feathered etching...
  16. Not really too worried about theft down there, just a precautionary measure.
  17. I agree, just ribbing Dan a bit. Wife and I lock our bikes to either a stout tree or a structure every night when we're at the Gap. There's a LOT of opportunity for theives down there, but I honestly dont hear much about bike theft
  18. Bike in the motel room....now that's either love, or ocd
  19. You're welcome. You need the money for good causes, so we're happy to help where we can. Just get functional for that coming baby
  20. I'm a trailering Triumph owner, and I wouldn't shun ya Tim
  21. Here's a link to his GoFundMe account so anyone/everyone can help Travis get the physical therapy needed to continue on his path to recovery. For those that don't know, he was in a severe motorcycle accident last July when an inattentive driver pulled out in front of him. He's truly lucky to be alive with all the trauma and injury he's suffered, but he lacks funding to pursue the treatment he needs and continue improving his quality of life, especially now that he's an expecting father. I posted the GoFundMe link in his thread, but fear it will get buried as it's a long read, and folks may miss the opportunity to help a fellow OhioRider in need. Those of you on Facebook and Twitter, please link this account up to expand efforts as far as we can. Please give what you can, it's much appreciated. https://www.gofundme.com/9xrvf6t9 And here's a link to his thread... https://ohioriders.net/index.php?/topic/108392-happy-to-be-alive/
