This is good for me, our medium group is filling up quick and could use another group to help keep the packs manageable

You all are giving me a good handful of options here. Anyone have any feedback on the JoeRocket Hammerhead? Its basically a MantaXL equipped with a GPS window and is in my desired price range. I guess I should just pull the trigger on what I think would fit best, which is about half a dozen of the posts above

Thanx man, not seen these yet but they look to be damn nice for the $$ and the lifetime warranty is enticing. This is a nice bag for the money too, buy my primary objective is a GPS pouch/window. My Nuvi is older so its a bit chubby for a cell pocket. Same bag Magz mentioned, I do like the Recon series. This is what makes me consider AlzHeimers cheap tank protector idea, or strap-on versions along with the protectant.

Nice idea. Luckily I'm fat enough to need a tree, a tractor, and some rope to get my leathers down

FYI to all, if I'm leading our group then the pace will be more of a very spirited SLOW group....I don't know the roads/route much, but I'll definitely be waiting for the group to recollect at every route change so nobody ends up seperated out in BFE

Thanks fellas, I appreciate the feedback so far... I hear ya, I may drop a piece of fleece between the bag and tank. I wont leave it as a permanent fixture, just a temp tour option to throw on for longer trips These seem a good and cheap choice to try, there are a few NR models that have tempted me Givi is definitely the high quality end of the spectrum, but a bit pricey at $150 for a first timer. There's a deal right now at MotorcycleSuperStore for a $30 Cycle Case brand GPS/map pocketed, magnetic or strapped versions I've been considering today. May just buy it to try at that price. Seen these too, similar to the NelsonRiggs/Cortech setups. Just not sure about magnetic bags working with the front half of my tank being a plastic airbox cover. Might just go strap-on? Although I do see the need and quality of this, I cannot justify a $180 tankbag to start out with. I should've mentioned in my first post that I'd like to keep my first to a sub $100 pricetag since it will see little use ( in fact, I'll edit that ). I appreciate the adhesive tank protective insight though, that's handy info that I'll surely bookmark. And I completely agree with the garage comparison, but I just dont need a triple decker tankbag. I want something semi-sleek that still allows me to tuck some, as well as allow me to position inside of my bike on deeper turns without the bag being in the way of my outside arm. A few items and weather protection for my GPS is my MO, so a shorter bag will be all I invest in to begin with. Sweet deal AJ, I'll shoot you a text here shortly

I've been surfing them for a bit now, just have yet to nail down a decision. Wasn't sure which way would prove best, magnetic or strap down. My fuel tank is a steel back half and a plastic airbox cover on the front half. Something I definitely NEED is a gps window to keep the Garmin out of the elements. Want to keep below $100 total cost and I don't need anything too big, but it needs to hold more than a wallet -- which is why I haven't pursued the Manta style tank bags. They just look too small for my needs. So, what do you guys dig on and why?

If I can get my GPS wired up/mounted -- I'll lead or sweep our Dayton area group. Just for simplicities sake in case we get lost, we'll all be lost together Last year we only used about half of the portion of parking lot that you've got marked Derek.....just fyi.

^^^THIS^^^ Matt and I met in the grandstands last year for Friday's practice and had a great view around Penthouse boxes 16-17 thru 24-25 about top row "J". Can see the front straight, and turn 1 through turn 4-5 -- not to mention the shade/breeze up there, or protection from the rain if it's inclimate. A group of us walked the infield last year on race day and had decent views from the mounds, but you're baking under the sun the whole time and with little elevation it's difficult to see much racing action. We parked in Lot 2 where a few others camped, which made it simple to get in/out and wasn't too expensive with the supertickets

A new 14, or keep my old 14 and slap down on a new ToyHauler

Looked like a novice noob got swollen nuts and cut loose. Hopefully he was being towed. Which org was this? STT or Moto or? Whoever was hosting the trackday surely gave that guy repeated earfuls, and may have even revoked his remaining sessions. I know the afternoon sessions with STT novice can get a bit crazy and really enable riders to find their limits early on. Some sneaky guys were passing in the corners, I would get setup to pass in the corner and just let them take me on the exit to play it safe.....unless it was turn 10 I know I got roped into over riding the front straight at Putnam just a bit when a CR draft passed me. Spooked the shit out of me when he took my inside at the back half, so I had a quick little grass excursion at about 6" off the track around maybe 150, it happened just at my brake marker too. Luckily my marker was still plenty early, so the only thing that got wadded up was my anus for a lap or so.

Looks simple enough. I rarely ever ride at night, so I wouldn't get use of this....but cool little write up. Either of those bikes' yours? Or are you still caging it everywhere?

First post edited for rider list and added secondary meet locale for other SWOhioan riders not wanting to meet at CompAcc. Where do ya want to meet with us before slabbing to Springfield? The rest stop just south of Rt36 exit just for an easy on/off?

Yup, a group of us are coming from Dayton/Springfield and meeting a few others where Rt33 ( Southeast Expressway ) and Rt317 ( S. hamilton Rd ) intersect about 9'ish am. Dont have a pinpointed meet spot, so I'm assuming we just meet up at the on-ramp for Rt33 South?

Come join us at MidO on race weekend in July!

I say if the part means that much to you, walk in there and speak with the fella that sold you the bike and elate the importance of it in person. It's probably in stock, if not then it's something they could easily swipe from a bike in the showroom to re-establish your happy customer status Or.....trade it on a ZX14 for instant, complete, satisfaction
