  1. We’ve yet to meet a performance bike enthusiast that didn’t dig carbon fiber. Here at the RidersDiscount.com fortress, we most definitely appreciate the light, strong material. We like it even more when it’s partially painted over like you see on various WSBK and MotoGP machines – and Bell Helmets decided to accentuate the Star Matte Black Carbon helmet’s good looks with a Derek Hess rendering over parts of its outer carbon fiber shell. Mr. Hess, based out of Cleveland, Ohio, is famous for his sketches that have graced album covers and even has a few works on permanent display in the Louvre as well as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His line-drawn style doesn’t completely cover the shell’s carbon fiber, but instead, enhances its looks so that anyone who looks closely will be able to see that thar’ is real carbon fiber!

The Bell Star Hess Carbon’s shape was part of an arduous R&D process to create a helmet that resisted buffeting and lift at speed, which can be seen through its angular appearance at the rear. Intake and exhaust vents are carefully placed for excellent ventilation capacity and the fully-removable interior liner’s anti-microbial treatment impart a high degree of comfort, no matter where or when you’re riding. A clear UV-resistant, anti-fog and anti-scratch faceshield is included as standard – just don’t forget to ask about a smoked or a Transitions SolFX visor when ordering!

These are not yet available on our website - for more information on Bell Star Hess carbon fiber helmets (or any other Bell helmet), call Mike at 866.931.6644 ext 804 or send a note to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with BELL STAR CARBON HESS in the subject line and we’ll get back to you right away. MSRP $649.95

  2. Driven Racing D-Axis rearsets are built like a tank! That’s what we thought the first time we picked up a set. A nine-position base plate is included for most models, giving the user up to 24mm of adjustability up and behind the OEM footpeg position. This is further augmented by a D-Axis eccentric footpeg adjuster plate which covers an additional 12mm of adjustment over its 360° range of movement. Users should have no problems finding the perfect fit on their bikes! High-quality assembly hardware is used throughout which, when combined with the beefy brackets, should impart a high degree of crash durability to these rearsets. And, replacement parts are readily available directly from Driven Racing. Should your rearsets get beat up beyond use in a crash, just refer to the included schematic diagram (or Driven’s website) for helping finding the exact part(s) you need! These rearsets are designed to work in either standard or reverse shift pattern with no special parts required.

Folding toe pegs are a standard feature on all D-Axis rearsets. These increase crash survivability over fixed toe pegs which have a tendency to bend or snap off in a crash.

    driven_d-axis_rearsets_triumph_daytona_675-7.jpg

Footpegs are hollowed-out on their lowers so they should break off instead of forcing the substantial footpeg brackets themselves to bend/break in the event of a fall.

As with everything from Driven Racing, the quality of finish machining is top notch.

  3. Most of Alpinestars’ latest jackets and leathers are fitted with a pair of foam pads on the chest. Owners of compatible Alpinestars apparel have the option of upgrading these chest pads with a pair of Bionic Chest Pads. Made with a bio-foam inner core sandwiched between a comfortable mesh inner and a hard, yet flexible, polymer outer plate, Bionic Chest Pads add extra chest impact protection and help isolate vibration. Furthermore, they allow the wearer to fully tuck in against the tank of the motorcycle with less bruising of the chest, which is really nice if you’re riding a particular bumpy track. For racers and serious trackday riders, this helps to reduce fatigue while increasing the enjoyment of your time at the track. With their ventilated outer polymer surfaces and perforated inner construction, Alpinestars upgrade chest pad inserts will not reduce your gear’s cooling capacity either!

One size fits all, click here to order. There’s also a women’s-specific Alpinestars Stella Bionic Chest Pad version that’s articulated to better fit the female form.

    Sold in pairs.

    alpinestars_bionic_chest_pads-1.jpg

The foam pads that come with many Alpinestars jackets can easily be replaced for added protection.

    alpinestars_bionic_chest_pads-5.jpg

To upgrade your Alpinestars gear, most chest pad compartments have an “install protection here” tag. Just pull the foam pad out and replace it with a Bionic Chest Pad for better protection up front.

    suit_alpinestars_sp1_red_7.jpg

A mesh material encases the bio-foam armor between the wearer and the chest pads’ hard polymer outer shell.

    alpinestars_bionic_chest_pads-2.jpg

Highly ventilated and protective, tucking in on the bike will become less bruising and you’ll get added protection up front in a face-down type of crash.

  4. More than anything else, it seems like the rectifier is the number one electrical part that fails on modern motorcycles. Despite their seemingly simple task of converting AC current from your motorcycle’s stator to DC current and stabilizing voltage output from the stator, the cost of such a device is surprisingly expensive when sourced from the OEM! Rick’s Motorsport Electrics rectifiers are designed to provide cost-effective, OEM-replacement rectifiers that require no modifications to install. Simply remove the failed rectifier/regulator from your motorcycle, bolt on the unit from Rick’s, plug it in with the OEM-style connectors and you’re ready to ride. For applications requiring extra power output (like heated grips), high-output MOSFET versions are available for select motorcycles.

Rick’s Motorsport Electrics rectifier/regulators are available for most newer motorcycles.

These rectifiers are not yet available on our website. For more information, call Mike at 866.931.6644 x 804 to discuss all options available for your particular motorcycle. You can also send a note to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with AFTERMARKET MOTORCYCLE RECTIFIER in the subject line and please be sure to include the model and year of your motorcycle so we can get back to you right away.

Rick’s Motorsport Electrics rectifiers are designed to bolt in place of the OEM unit with no modifications required.

  5. For street or track, Cortech Latigo RR gloves offer safety and feel in one very reasonably priced package. Made entirely from leather front-to-back, and pre-curved from the factory, Latigo RR gloves feel broken-in straight out of the box. Extra layers of leather have been applied in all the right places too, like the knuckles, palms and the sides of both the pinkies and thumbs which helps to stave off injury should your hand(s) get trapped under yourself or the bike in a fall. And just to be sure that your hands were well protected, Cortech also inserted a layer of Kevlar along the palm on the inside of the glove for extra insurance.

Towards the rear, a generous gauntlet easily bridges the gap between the wrist and the sleeve of your leathers or jacket where segmented armor plates are integrated for added impact protection. TPU-molded armor plates have been inserted over the joints of finger #’s one, two and three while a large plate covers the knuckles. This plate also includes intakes molded into its forward-facing side that, along with the perforated leather upper, provides suitable ventilation for the wearer.

For more information or to order, just go to our website for fast, securing ordering and fast shipping.

    cortech_latigo_rr_gloves_black-1.jpg

Perforated leather is used between the fingers and on top of the additional foam armor so as not to compromise abrasion resistance while still being highly ventilated. And because the pinkie is especially prone to road rash in a fall, an extra layer of leather covers the outer seam for extra safety.

    cortech_latigo_rr_gloves_blue_white-4.jpg

Pre-curved fingers bristle with TPU armor inserts over the knuckles. Each piece of armor is surrounded with an additional layer of leather over the fingers for extra abrasion resistance.

The base of the palm gets an extra layer of leather that has two pieces of soft armor to protect the superior distal protrusions of the radius and ulna. It also protects the wrist strap from abrasion, reducing the likelihood of the gloves coming off in a sliding type of crash.

    cortech_latigo_rr_gloves_black-3.jpg

An extra layer of leather also covers the outer-facing side of the pinkie.

  6. Cox Radiator Guards are an inexpensive solution to a potentially very expensive problem; a leaky radiator can lead to not only rashed bodywork, but also an over-heated motor, leaking head gasket … a trip to the hospital – the list goes on. The culprit could be as small as a rock that made its way into the rad.

These screens come shaped to fit most late-model motorcycles perfectly and include everything you need for an effortless installation with or without the radiator mounted to your bike. Each guard’s frame is constructed from 5051 aluminum and the expanded aluminum screen is durable, yet lightweight and strong to withstand debris.

Call Nathan at 866.931.6644 ext 809 to have him send you this radiator and oil cooler protection kit today. If you have any questions about this product, send an email to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with the subject line COX RADIATOR GUARD (be sure to specify the model/year of your motorcycle) and we’ll get back to you right away.

Simple instructions, sticker-backed foam pads, zip ties and stickers come with every Cox Radiator Guard. Here’s the radiator guard in titanium.

    cox_racing_radiator_guard_kawasaki_zx10r_generation_4_2.jpg

The mesh screen is durable yet surprisingly light. We’ve used these very same radiator guards on our own racebikes as do many AMA pro teams.

    cox_racing_radiator_guard_kawasaki_zx10r_generation_4_4.jpg

Mounting tabs are located strategically to make protecting your radiator a simple installation process.

    cox_racing_radiator_guard_kawasaki_zx10r_generation_4_3.jpg

Have you looked at your bike’s radiator lately? Unless you’re riding on roads that are swept clean daily, it’s likely that there’s a great deal of crud stuck right in the middle it. This road grime not only reduces your engine’s ability to run cool (and produce more power) but it’s also difficult to clean as the radiator’s fins are very delicate. You can help address this problem with the installation of a Cox Radiator Guard. Not only do these rad guards protect against damage, but they also tend to collect a lot of road debris that would otherwise get caught up in the radiator, and they’re MUCH easier to clean since you can pull them off and scrub them without having to worry about damaging your machine’s expensive radiator!

  7. A staple in motorcycle paddocks around the globe, Alpinestars Supertech R boots offer a level of protection that is unrivaled and do it all in an incredibly comfortable manner. As such, Alpinestars saw it fit to slightly refine, rather than completely redesign, the Supertech R boots and also added some new colors too.

Alpinestars Supertech R motorcycle boots use a two-piece design comprised of an outer shell and a separate, removable inner bootie. These two pieces work together to put your foot in a vault that’s surprisingly flexible, allowing the user to walk in a natural gait and control the bike with a reassuring feel, all without sacrificing safety in terms of crash protection. The exterior shell bristles with armor to protect the heel and the upper shin/calve areas from impact. Below this, a durable sole allows you to flex at the ball of your foot while being very rigid in front of and behind this point. The toebox is rigid and it is covered at one side by a molded shifter pad which spares the leather of excessive wear while a large replaceable toe slider resides on the outer-facing side. In addition to its protective properties, the outer shell is specifically engineered to provide two degrees of ventilation, depending on the wearer’s needs. A non-ventilated Supertech R boot still allows some air to get inside to keep your feet comfy while the ventilated model features die-cut perforations on top of the boot for exceptional cooling capacity. This allows wearers to choose a boot based upon the expected riding environment.

The inner-facing side of the boot is made with a large swath of synthetic suede that’s designed not to snag against the motorcycle. In fact, the entire outer shell is rather smooth and linear so that, unlike boots with lots of buckles etc., 2011 Alpinestars Supertech R boots are less likely to catch on heel guards or other parts around the foot pegs. These unexpected grabs can be disastrous when you’re trying to grapple with a high-power superbike.

The biggest difference between the 2011 Supertech boots and that of their predecessors, is the inner Bio-mechanical ankle brace. Alpinestars Tech has chosen to use a new mesh material to further enhance wearer comfort through improved breathability and cooling performance. This highly engineered piece is designed to limit unwanted movement in a highly dynamic environment (like that of a crash situation) to reduce the risk of injury to the wearer. Working with the outer shell that’s designed to mitigate impact energy and resist abrasion, the two-part design is extremely well-adept to providing significant protection without hampering user control.

Having just been released, these boots are in limited supply. To secure a pair for yourself, call Nathan at 866.931.6644 x 809 or send a note to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with 2011 ALPINESTARS SUPERTECH BOOTS in the subject line (be sure to specify your shoe size along with the color your prefer) and we’ll get back to you right away.

  8. After a few weeks of riding with a G4 as part of the regular riding kit, we’ve noticed a few things. First, the temperament of your passenger is critical to effective use of the device. If you have an onboard “nag-igator,” it may be best to leave the second of the matched pair at home, lend it to a fellow rider or just forget to charge it! We did, however, find the device very useful for riding with a friend as sticking together was easy, especially when the faster rider would get a few corners ahead. And when one rider knew the area well, it was easy to decide when and where to find fuel or chow without having to stop at the roadside. Headphones are loud enough for effective communication on the move and the voice-activated microphone was surprisingly clear and effective. Taking calls was nice, though it did feel a bit strange to be blabbing on the phone while riding a bike! But the best part was having a soundtrack along for the ride with the MP3 connectivity feature.

  9. Made precisely for the sunny-day rider, Alpinestars Net Air motorcycle boots are engineered with premium comfort in mind. This is done via leather outers that include large swaths of abrasion-resistant mesh inserts that let feet get plenty of air. Inside, a 3D mesh internal liner surrounds each foot in a comfortable, yet reassuring manner allowing air to pass through to the wearer, the volume of which is only controlled by riding speed. The footbed uses an EVA material that’s not only anatomically-shaped, but also perforated for maximum comfort. As you can see, Alpinestars Net Air boots are especially well-adept to riders stuck in hotter climates or, those with feet that tend to sweat easily. Looking after safety, each boot includes dual-density ankle cups and reinforcements have also been applied to the toebox and heel counter. Shin plates are also armored should a foot happen to slip off the controls. And because the boots are so well-ventilated, IR-reflective inserts are employed to keep exhaust and engine heat away from your skin. For the sake of long-term durability, a TPU shifter pad is placed above the toes and the rubber sole easily withstands years or riding and walking. Thanks to a long zipper that is secreted behind the inner-facing leather flap, getting into, or out of, each boot is a simple task too.

If you’re after maximum comfort with plenty of safety, these may just be the perfect boots for you. Available in US sizes 5 - 12.5, get a pair buy calling Mike at 866.931.6644 ext 804. You can also email us with any questions you may have – send those to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with ALPINESTARS NET AIR BOOTS in the subject line and we’ll get back to you fast!

Rain or shine, a sure grip is facilitated by this specially-formulated rubber sole.

    alpinestars_net_air_boots-2.jpg

To keep repeated shifts from wearing through the boot’s leather outer shell, a tough TPU shift pad has been placed just above and behind the toebox.

    alpinestars_net_air_boots-4.jpg

As you can see, air will have no problem passing through each boot’s shell.

We're still impressed with the longevity of the Renthal sprockets and the minimal stretch of the D.i.D chains. If you haven't done so already, now would be a good time to take a look at your motorcycle's drivetrain. If you see sharkfins on your chainwheels and/or have already adjusted your chain for slack multiple times, now would be a good time to replace everything in one shot!

  13. Spidi is well known for their outstanding one piece leathers but they also make an excellent back and chest protector call the Defender. Particularly unique when compared to some other back protectors on the market, the Spidi Defender is comprised of mostly low-friction materials on its outer-facing sides. It won’t grab or pull on your leathers from the inside which makes moving around on the bike easier and the impact armor even less noticeable under your leather suit. A wide swath of armor on the back is CE Level-2 certified and it comes with a chest protector that can easily be positioned to fit almost any shape. Light in weight and slim, the Defender provides a significant level of impact absorbing protection for any brand of leathers without compromising ergonomics.

  14. Manufactured with an outer shell that’s 100% carbon fiber, the Bell Star Matte Black Carbon looks the business and performs exceptionally well over a wide range of riding conditions. One of the most noticeable aspects of the carbon fiber shell is its unique shape that’s designed to cut through the air smoothly with minimal buffeting and almost no lift. Intakes are strategically placed for maximum effect and each can be independently adjusted for comfort based on the rider’s own preferences. Exhaust vents on the back exploit the column of air behind the helmet to pull stale inside air out to the atmosphere. Further aiding in the internal environment’s comfort is the fully-removable interior liner that resists the growth of bacteria while keeping the Bell Star Carbon’s Snell M2010-certified shell perfectly placed on your head. You’ll sweat less and keep cool when the sun is out!

Up front, the NutraFog II face shield not only protects your eyes, but it resists fogging and it’s treated with a potent anti-UV coating so your face won’t be red after a day’s ride. It also resists scratches for a clear view of the road ahead. Bell’s 3Mode Shield allows you to quickly lock the visor down, crack it open for added ventilation and swap out faceshields with no tools required. And don’t forget to ask about a Bell Transitions SolFX Photochromatic faceshield. These visors have the same great benefits of the included unit, but also change their tint based upon lighting conditions. They darken quickly (~10 seconds) when the sun is out for squint-free daytime riding.

  15. Have you taken a look inside your motorcycle's airbox lately? Now that we're more than halfway through the riding season (in the northern part of the country, anyway!), miles' worth of crud has made its way into the airbox. We've found everything from insects and leaves to road rubber, sand and even small stones in our bikes' air filters. And that's just what you can easily see! Upon closer examination, you'll find that there's smaller debris stuck in the filter element, especially in the crevices and around the edges, all of which is detrimental to engine performance.

Now, for those of you that have already upgraded with a K & N aftermarket air filter, we can supply a K & N filter cleaning kit so you can easily replenish your filter for like-new performance. Those of you with an OEM air filter, now is the time to upgrade. We have K & N filters available for just about every make and model, call us today and we'll get you a brand new K&N air filter shipped out fast!

For more information, call Mike at 866.931.664 x 804 or send an email to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with K&N FILTER in the subject line (please be sure to specify make and model of your bike) and we'll get back to you right away!
