  1. V65 Sabre were and are still awesome bikes. Most of what you listed should not cost a whole lot to replace. I had to do the carbs twice (don't ask) on my old Shadow and I did all the fluids at the same time. I think it all cost me around $500 for a complete go over (selling to my nephew). What makes you think it needs electrical other than say, a battery?
  2. Damn, NIMBY's have to go an ruin all the fun. Man how this brings back the memories of being 16-18 and dragging our late 60's and 70's muscle cars against all the late model Camaros and Mustangs (this was early 80's). Cops would come and we would be long gone. Locals would be out on their yards, turning on light and bitchin!!! Thankfully, staties built a really nice ring road around town that was essentially vacant day or night. Yes, it was dangerous but what a lot of fun on those midsummer nights out in the cornfields.
  3. Nope, not going to happen for me. Given the long distance, a one day even just didn't seem like the right way to go about it and long drive home on Sunday would make Monday double suck. Have fun and enjoy. I have been watching the videos of the track in anticipation of a kitchen pass, looks like a fun track.
  4. Thong, get out of Jail free card and signed organ donor license.
  5. Look at the CR's chest position relative to yours. Also, get your body off the bike a bit more and that will allow the bike to be more vertical and less likely to drag a toe. Well, that is what I keep telling myself to do but I still have lots of room for improvement. Besides, knee down doesn't mean shit any more. It is all about the elbows.

Sorry to hear you are going through this. We lost our lab of 13 years two years ago. Very tough so I wish you the best. Timing is never right but from my two experiences, it is a lot easier on yourself if you decide the date and make it happen vs just finding them lying on the ground. Deaf, blind and struggling to go out and do their biz is no great life. Talk to the family, agree on a date. Make a big ta-do or just go to the vet. Sooner the better so don't prolong the inevitable.
  7. Funny Vid. When a KLR or 650L grows up, it becomes one of these: I am a big fan of the dual sports and would love to put a KTM 690, 530exc or the new 350 exc in my garage.
  8. I wouldn't call their MotoGP effort a failure. They produced the 990cc bike only to have MotoGP switch to 800cc. They did sell a few street going versions of the bike and one was actually in Wallstreet2:smell of money or whatever that one was called. I was kind of hoping they might rekindle the MotoGP bike now that MotoGP has moved back to the bigger motor but with the future in on electric, I guess not.
  9. If the "SPEED" triple is too much - don't rule out the smaller "STREET" triple. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triumph_Street_Triple Sportbikes are quite horrid at slow, parking lot speeds. The committed riding position limits seeing and being seen. Standards or Naked (Sportster, Street Triple, Bonneville, Nighthawk, Gladius) will offer a nice compromise between sporting ability and upright riding position. Dual sport bikes, reserved for taller people and payback for short guy sport bike love, offer a nice option for low cost, do everything kid of bike. Though, superslab for longer periods is not an option. BMW G650GS is an option given the yardstick stand over test. Not all cruisers are the same. Something like this: http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/kawasaki_z_440_ltd_1982.php should fall into your budget and work really well. An older http://auto.howstuffworks.com/1984-honda-nighthawk-700s.htm would be good as well. If Honda were to bring this to the states, it would be perfect: http://www.bikeexif.com/honda-cb1100 Another option:http://dayton.craigslist.org/mcy/3041484557.html
  10. :-) Fixed it for you. I have been lusting after these for so long. The very thought of putting a race track or dirt bike track in the middle of town and flipping the bird to all the NIMBY noise bastards is a wet dream come true. Czyz was thinking about trackdays with the swappable battery packs. I just wish he would sign up with a manufacturer to get these bikes out. Economies of scale and adoption is what is needed now to lower the cost/price.
  11. Got me, not sure which month I looked at. NVM, and good to know and will cross all of these events off the consideration list. I was concerned about the A/I combo but when you mentioned 30 minute sessions, I got all optimistic that A/I would be split.
  12. Midweek is too hard. Maybe on of the Saturday Twilights.
  13. Guilty, I am a total Lesbian. ------------------------- I have looked at this guys post a ton of times: http://dayton.craigslist.org/mcy/3018147377.html Wants a BMW, Jag or something nice for his $6k bike. Sheesh, $4k is a bit more realistic and a Ford Focus. Much nicer SS1000 on another site just went for $6k and that is pretty close to top dollar for these bikes.
  14. Not calling you a liar but 5'11" and 36" inseam is doubtful - unless you had heals on. No matter, as it doesn't sound like you are vertically challenged. No idea of your price range or preferred styles but here are a few current model bikes that could serve as a guide. Harley Davidson Sportster 883 Suzuki: SV650, SFV650 "Gladius" Yamaha: FZ6R Honda: VFR, Honda 250R BMW: F800S, F800R, R1200R Aprilla: Shiver KTM: 690 Duke Ducati: Monster 696, Hypermotard 796, Supersport (750, 800) Triumph: Bonneville, Thruxton, Street Triple Kawi: 250R, Ninja 650, Versys There are quite a few older models that would work as well. Lighter and more upright riding position will benefit you the most. Go used and expect to drop it once or twice. NO BUSA!!!!!!!!! Don't rule out a scooter. Genuine Motors BUDDY or Stella are not bad options. 80mpg and can run 60mph on a 150. http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/mcy/3010994309.html http://limaohio.craigslist.org/mcy/2982792196.html http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/mcy/3020206585.html Not biased am I :-)
  15. Too purty. Drop it on each side and drag it a bit. Not a real track bike without some rash and stickers. :bow:Congrats on a very nice ride!!!
  16. At $190 + 500 weekend + Indy/Commo + heat = I figured it would be a light turn out. One of my favorite t-day was an Indy/Commo day where the morning was a rain out and everyone left. The few that stayed got to run on a mostly open track. Bummer that I missed this one and sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he is ok and the bike just took the beating.
  17. Well, you already know that it was a NO. Though, I was going to ask for another show and tow session or two. How was the day? Family talked me out of it and into Kings Island instead. Railing the corners on the Beast sure did make me think of going around Putnam.
  18. Well, if you get lucky, some track days will have a suspension guy present and you can get the service done there (if they have parts and time). I recently ran into the same issue and I needed to have my forks and shock re-sprung. Based on reco's from the OR site, I pulled mine off and sent them to 35Motorsports over by Indy. 35Motorsports was great to deal with and quick. Also, I found a new cycle shop the other day here in Dayton and I talked to Chris about their services. They say they can do the suspension setup you are asking for. I have never dealt with them but maybe others have. www.zperformanceinc.com BTW, I have a 500 spring off my Penske shock and 160lb person springs from my Showa forks. Pay for shipping or let me know which track day you are going to and I can send them to you. Not sure if they will work but they are just gathering dust in my garage.
  19. -----Tour----- Track + Street ----- Dirt----- Some of us are all in and are willing to go in all 4 biking directions. Heritage is an excellent choice for soaking up the miles in style.
  20. Yes, I have that penciled in. I want to run with Commo but there is a Guzzi rally in WV that a friend wants to travel to. Plus, it always rains on the 500.
  21. if i was faster, i would be down for this. i have wanted to do one of these: http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/
  22. Interested in a low mile (under 2k, at work and need to verify) '10 KTM SMT (non-abs)? Ridden lightly, lightly ridden!!! Orange and Black, see links below for description and pics of what the bike looks like. 990cc, V-Twin power, upright riding position, fully adjustable suspension. Very good commuter rig and plenty agile for spirited rides. SAS emissions disabled and Akro pipes added at break-in service to remove all the stock fueling issues. Throttle response is still quite snappy I comes with the little side bags and tail rack. Bigger cases available from KTM. I just don't ride it that much and I have my eye on the new Norton or possibly a Ducati 799 if it ever materializes. http://www.moto123.com/motorcycle-reviews/article,2010-ktm-990-smt-review.spy?artid=120120 http://motorcycles.about.com/od/manufacturerlineups/ig/2010-KTM-Buyer-s-Guide/990-SM-T.htm Downside, $14k new + $3k for Akro means I would be looking for something above $13k to let it go.
  23. Hey Kyle, 411 on the CD request info please. I missed it as well, if previously mentioned.
  24. Good weekend and met a few guys from OR. Now, I just wish there was another public weekend track day at Mid-Ohio, non-twilight. I had heard good things about the track and it didn't disappoint. I am glad I rolled out in Novice as it took a while to learn the track. Lots of areas to improve but I will have to wait until next year for this date to roll back around. Big thumbs up to 35Motorsports and reco's to send my suspension to them. My bike really was transformed with new springs (for my weight) and mental aspect improved as well.
