  6. I only asked that you not bust my chops for my ranting, not conversation. I am sure some on here have an opiniun on this, any opiniun. I am as open minded as anyone, but this war crap just gets my goat. So please, don't BMC, but give input. Ride safe all. Greg
  7. Bump These are to nice to just set in my ceder closet
  8. Ok, I'm really going to vent here. It is way past time to get our soilders the Fuck out of these countries. These fucking religious zelots have been killing each other for hundreds of yrs. Get the hell out and let them continue to do so. Better yet, give them all short range Nuclear bombs and let them obliterate each other for the last time. Between their radical religious views and their inbreeding, ignorant knowledge base, we can only gain additional oxygen for the rest of the civilized world to use. Don't bust my chops by telling me I am wrong on this, I don't care what you think in this situation, deal with it. And don't try to push your religious beliefs onto me, it won't fly and will end our conversation faster then the ass end of a horse fly hits your faceshield at 75 mph. Ok, I'm done, Everybody ride safe out there. Greg
  9. I will only tell this, basically because it needs to be stressed. Circa 1977, I'm 20 and home from college. Hot Aug. summer day, myself and 2 friends from HS get on our bikes for a run on some of our local country roads. I gear up in a side slit perf. leather jacket, jeans, work boots, work gloves and a Bell Star FF helmet. One of my frinds gears up about the same, the other is just pissed that it is so hot and gears up in nothing but his jeans and boots, His helmet, t-shirt and jacket are tied down to the back of his 650. I argue with him that he should have on his gear, he tells me it is his decision, not mine, I wasn't going to win that discussion. We hit a curve that we have ridden on many many times. I always lead, with my gearless friend in the middle, and 3rd, pulling up the rear. I am a little more aggresive then the other 2, and hit the curve about 30 yrds ahead of the other two. A car is entering the turn but goes left of center in its inside turn, my gearless buddy dives into the bottom of the turn, into the garvel shoulder. I am looking for his exit and see him flying over the bars and landing face and chest first onto the gravel shoulder. His front tire dove in and he went asshole over earlobes. I turned around, the car was long gone, my othere friend was just looking at the huge pool of blood forming under is face down body. We don't move him, my friend goes up the road to a house to call for help, remember, 1977, no cell phones. It is 25 min. before help arives, he has a heart beat, but still unconcious. The medics roll him over once they decide his neck and back aren't broken. His face was gone, no eyes, nose, teeth, or rt. ear. His cheek bones were exposed and gravel was imbedded in them, his jaw was fractured and jammed back, exposing his upper toothless jaw, his lips were gone, his collar bones were shattered and compound fractured. How he didn't destroy the veins in his neck was amazing. He lived, with no face to speak of, he wore a mask with glass eyes. He had 57 surgeries to attempt some kind of human appearence, but none helped. On his birthday each yr. I would gear him up and we would go for a ride, he lived with his mother until she passed on in 1997. In 1998, I got a call from his caregiver and asked to come to his house. She met me at the door, crying and handed me a note. It said: "Thanks for all of your Love over the yrs, you never cared what I looked like, and you were always a great friend. Ride safe my friend, Love, Rick After 4 attempts he finally was successful in taking his own life. 21 yrs of a living Hell, all because I couldn't convince him to put on his gear. He never blamed me, ever. But I still sometimes wounder, what if? I still miss him, his birthday is coming up, I think I'll go for a ride. ATGATT, ride safe all. Greg
  10. 30 mph from the rear, don't dismiss delayed neck or back injury. Maybe just a sprain or strain, but these areas don't always show up in just one day. Glad your ok, you should let Subaru know about the strength of our OR stickers. Everyone ride safe out there. Greg
  11. Holly crap guys, I'm not kidding here. A Blanket Party is the absolute answer for this dude. A couple of Louisville Sluggers, correctly placed multiple times does wonders I have first hand knowledge on how well one of these parties work, don't ask me how I know so much, I'll pleed the 5th. Don't shake your heads here, selling drugs cancels your civil rights in my book. Deal with it. Ride safe all. Greg
  12. Rode some today, and ended up at Scioto Trail State Forest just below Chilicothe on 23. What a nice campground, it has been updated and has new elect., and the sites and is extremely clean. Now there are no showers, but plenty of running water for that camping whores bath thnig. And cheap for a State campground. They allow 2 tents per site, so it is just $10 per tent per night, not bad, and Kim, the rep I talked to, has no problem letting us stay just one night. It is normally a 2 night commitment, but I charmed her into letting us do a one night stay. Hoping to see some more intrest here, lots of looks, come on all, lets ride and camp before summer is gone and the snow is flying. ATGATT, and ride safe all. Greg
  13. Sounds like it is time for a blanket party. If You need an explanation, drop me a PM. ATGATT, and please ride safe all. Greg
  14. Just spoke with you Jon, give me a shout if you need me. Greg 937-508-5477
  15. The Fri campsite is up in the air , depending on choice of ride. If it is PIB, it will be up near Catawba, where the ferry is. So 2 hrs N is the norm. If it is SW Ohio , then I would probably get a site at one of the State Parks below Hillsboro , along Rt. 73 or so. Again, maybe 1.5 to 2.5 hrs away, depending on your start location. Also consider, that if you can't get to the campsite on Fri, an early rise and ride to meet up with the group on Sat. is there. Depending on the group and the campsite, the Sat. morning ride usually doesn't start till 10 or 11am. The idea in PIB, is to get to the island and ride around there on Sat. If in SW a ride around that area Sat. and another campsite Sat. evening. On a ride like this, keeping within a couple hrs of home is important, at least to me. Or if the weather gets, shall we say questionable, we are a quick jump back to the shelter of home. Hope this covered your question. ATGATT, and ride safe all. Greg
  16. 1. Put-In-Bay Ride and camp. +: Fun riding in the N, ferry ride, Island riding -: Most expensive, ferry rides, State campisite, restraunts This is one I try to do every summer, but to be honest, it is an expensive wknd. Each ferry ride is $15, campsite is $29 per night, and the restraunts are expensive. Riding around a small island is ok, but not much of a challange. It is just a get away thing, camping thing, mix and mingle thing. 2. SW Ohio run w/ camping on the Ohio River, well not on the river, but beside the river. +: great roads down there, lots of twisties and plenty to see. Lots of very good Mom and Pop type restraunts, all with great food. Quite a few private and cheap campsites along the river. Definatly the more frugal ride of the 2. I am thinking the 19th, 20th and 21st. Fri the 19th. ride to campsite, Sat. 20th. ride around area and back to campsite, Sun the 21st. return home ride in morning. I can work out details very easily, just looking for input and ideas. Hopefully this is enough time for some scheduling, let me know on here if your interested and which one you would like to do. ATGATT and ride safe all. Greg
  17. From the NASA site, some interesting info: Only 6 of the 16 energy cells like this one have been found, and the one that gets me more then any other. Only 2 helmets have been recovered, the othere will shop up sometime. Sad to think about what the last few seconds before breakup was like for them. ATGATT, and ride safe all. Greg
  18. Well....... I kinda knew I would get some intetresting responses when I posted this, and since my wife didn't want to hear my preaching anymore, I posted. I am very impressed with the knowledge base coming accross with the responses. Now don't get me wrong, I know we all have good common sense, it is just not spoken or written all that often. But it comes down to each person using that knowledge, and I for one am hoping that it will hit home sooner as opposed to later, that gearing up is just good old fashioned common sense. Keep the info and knowledge coming, it might only help 1 or 2, but it is better then none at all. ATGATT, and everyone please ride safe. Greg
  19. What a great day, lots of new faces and bikes to look at. I hope I didn't piss anyone off with any of my comments. I'm not to shy you know. And I will set up a ride, for all that requested. Thanks again for the ride and get together, lalready lookin forward to the next one. Ride safe all. Greg
  20. 1 time down, a little boy followed his ball into the street. I couldn't go left, so I dropped it into the ditch to the right. It was a 1200 Gold Wing, the boy was 7 and the bike was totaled due to frame damage. The ditch was 6' below road grade and it broke my left tib and fib 6" above my ankle. The most important thing was the boy was just fine, he pissed his pants, but if I was in a car, I don't think I could have missed him. And that is not something I would like to live with. Ride safe all. Greg
  21. Ok..... the skinny. 38 yrs riding, 328k miles, personal believer in ATGATT. I am gassing up, and a young man and his GF pull up on a YZ1. He, is in t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops, she is in shorts, half-t and ff's. No helmets or even gloves. He parks and she gets off, very cute , maybe 17 or 18, He looked 16, but was 19. Only 1 yr riding experience on a very fast bike. He starts by asking me waht kind of bike I was riding, I told him a Kawi Concours, he asked me why I messed it up and put bags on it. He then asked if I was hot in all that gear. I asked him if he really wanted to start a conversation with a question like that. He looked at me like I was from Mars. So I asked him if he was going to a barbecue, because he had on his Backyard barbecue gear. I go 6'3 and 245, and geared up my wife says I look like a Stormtrooper. This little fucker might have been 5' nothin and 140 lbs soaking wet. And he just shook his head and walked away. I looked at his GF and told her that she was to young to have settled already. All she could do was drop her head and follow the little asshole. I knew it wasn't going to get any better, so I mounted up and rode off. I kinda wonder how he will be when her DAD gets ahold of him because his daughter is in an ICU burn unit and not concious. Maybe i just care to much, but it just seems llke such a waste. Sorry for my rambleing, I know it is a personal choice, and I shouldn't get so upset. I guess it is the Dad / Grandpa safety thing coming out in me. Please, everyone ride safe out there, and gear up if can. Greg
  22. See you around 11am. Ride safe all. Greg
  23. Well....... Just got home from the torential downpour, know as the Bike Night @ Hooters. It started pouring while there, let up just enough to tease me. I got back on the road and got hit wiht some of the wrost rain I have ridde n in in quite a few yrs. My new Avons did an unbelievable job on the rain soaked roads. I am very happy with these tires, and would recommend them anyone. Just another ride for the books, ride safe all. Greg
  24. I've said it before, I'll say it again. "YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID". Everyone ride safe out there. Greg
  25. Well I just saw this, sorry for taking so long to respond. I don't have a lot of references, unless you call Traincars, Bridges, Large walls, and trash cans as references. Now if you really need them, I am sure my parole officer can get some coppies from the LEO. I have completed my public service, re-painting what I painted, and would like to do something like this. I can work with any size brush, spray can or power sprayer, while incarsarated I learned how to fix compressors and things. So if this is still needed, I can be paid in cash on a daily basis if thats's ok, cash is easier to spend, banks don't like me to much. I am hoping that being honest about my past will help me get this position. I can ride to work everyday, and will work overtime if necessary. Thanks for considering me. Ride safe all. Greg
