  1. Like Scuba says. Sometimes ya just gotta get out.
  2. I'm good to go as well. Gonna be a good time.
  3. I plan on hanging out with you guys this duh next year. Maybe the bug will bite me who knows. Wife says I need another hobby when I retire. Need to find a TZ 250. The smell of Bel Ray makes my wiener tingle.
  4. You youngsters are killing me. To be young again.
  5. "I would like to start REALLY early. Like leaving the plaza at 5 AM or so, but some are coming from Youngstown, they may object. That gets us to the end of the day around 11-12 PM. So we can recover and get up at a decent hour for day two." No objection from me. Just as Earache mentioned, set the when and were and I'll be there. I'm good for 200 + or - a few on mileage depending on the right hand so no need to to figure me into the stop equation. I agree with an early start. Make it 4 if you want.
  6. Pauly.....if you decide to go and take Izzy-B I can carry your gear in a duffle in the back seat if needed since I will be taking the Wing. I also have a tail-saddle bag soft luggage set that worked out on on my Gap trip this year that your welcome to use.
  7. Hey Doc! Nice to see you on here again. Screw that rain. Don't forget cb radio, sheepskin seat cover, big ass windshield, highway pegs, backrest and drink holder. Wait...no drink holder. Gotta work on that. Would be nice if you could make this happen. Maybe not the 1000 mile part but the rest. All you gotta do is go south a little and we can pick you up.
  8. http://www.canyonchasers.net/travel/2009/blackhillsgold.php Though this trip report covers more than just the Black Hills area it is what put this area on my bucket list of destinations. Great pics and some vids with a very nice write up. After reading it again I am looking forward to the trip. If I can bang out the 1000/24 that will be two things that I can cross off my list.
  9. First off thanks Tonik for taking up the task as party planner. Second I'm in 90/10. The 10 being an emergency of some sort or the Gestapo at work not letting me go. My vote is for mid June. Less chance of rain than May and possibly less traffic that weekend at the end of June as it is just before the week of the Fourth. No matter, majority rules and I'm good with whatever. I'm also okay with a few extra days. We will be close to some states that I can mark off of my bucket list. Had a good time with Doc,RHill,Jester and his Bud Tim on our gap trip this year even though it rained every flippin day but one. So ya guys...looking forward to this.
  10. I could be swayed into doing this. Like Pauly says. Rules of engagement need to be set up and participants need to understand them.
  11. All batteries self discharge. Temperature plays a big role in discharge rate. An increase of 18 degrees doubles the discharge rate. So a battery at 95 * self discharges twice as fast a battery at 77*. You are better off leaving the battery in a cooler spot. A fully charged battery will not freeze till -92*. As the state of discharge of the battery goes up the temp at it will freeze also goes up. A tender/maintainer is not a warmer at all. Yes there are battery warmers and they do serve a purpose in colder climates.http://www.yuasabatteries.com/pdfs/TechManual_2009.pdf This is a wealth of info. It may or may not help you get better life out your battery but at least you know facts and not what you have heard. The most important thing that you can do to get good service life of a battery is to properly put it into service from the box.
  12. There is no difference whether it comes off a tender or the bikes charging system. If the battery is bad the bike won't start,if the the battery is good it will start,if the battery is going south it may or may not start. The only way to truly know is by doing a proper load test. To some extent you can use your thumb dyno as it were. If your bike exhibits slow cranking after say riding and restarting after a gas stop it is time not only for a battery test but a charging system check. A battery maintainer is exactly what it says. A maintainer,it does not artificially boost its power.

  14. http://m.freeclassifieds.com/details.aspx?adId=Wwdn_Mvt7r4= Here is another one.
  15. Speed safely guys. Wish I could make it. Just too much happy home owner crap to get done before the weather really turns bad. Hopefully this afternoon I can hit a 164 and 646 loop if I get my chores done.
  16. Hellmutt said it best. Prayers sent as well.
  17. "That was a case of working harder instead of smarter. Always lubricate; always ensure the opposite side of the bead is in the recessed portion of the rim....aka 1/2 way down the rim" Your correct on that Ryan. Technique sometimes is most important part of the job. I noticed the no/stingy lube job as well. I can only imagine what he went thru to break the bead.
  18. I bet he didn't even scratch the rim. Screw that.
  19. Lead shot not steel. Lead is soft and absorbs the vibration steel will basically just transmit it. What do they say on the Bandit forum? Maybe a better fix.
  20. I use Pauly. I mean Pauly services me. Uhhhh--never mind.
