  1. Maybe a better option would be selling off my 01 leftovers and either finding a newer bike to track or prepping the 05 and finding something else for the street. Guess it would all depend on what kind of deal I can find.

Just about all the 01 parts should be interchangeable with the 01-03 gen 600, that's why I was looking specific to those years.

  2. Yeah, those are good deals!

Heres a link to the bike I was talking about. http://cleveland.craigslist.org/mcy/3160310252.html

He is asking 2600, but I wouldnt go any more than 2k. Exchanged a couple texts with him, says clean title, but it looks to have been down pretty hard on the left; dented tank, bent clipon, messed up fairing, maybe bent fairing stay from the gap on the headlight.

I was hoping to find a bike already track prepped with plastics, but I'm tempted to shoot this guy an offer.

  3. Thanks for posting the route. I really liked those roads, really consistent turns and clean road. Next time I'm down that way I'll have to remember where those couple chicane like turns are so I wont be in too high of a gear and bog down.

  4. I'm thinking of picking up an 01-03 gsxr 600 or an sv650 for a track bike....or taking my 05 to the track. Reason I'd like to stick with a Suzuki is I have my 01 in pieces, just dont have fairings, fairing stay or a frame(its bent and cracked).

I found a 2003 gsxr with 30k miles for a little over 2k and my engine has a little over 20k on the clock. I'm pretty tempted to go for it, but my current housing situation doesn't lend itself to having 3 bikes and a trailer. I'll be moving here in a month, so I've got some time to consider my choices.

I wish I had money to blow, I'd throw the 05 on the track in a heartbeat and pick up newer and maybe more comfortable for the street.

    Opinions?

  5. This is the recommended riding position for slabbing, and also a good reason to be blind.l6KxI.jpg

    assume the position

My video turned out ok, but I have 18 gigs worth and I suck at editing it. Probably will end up doing the same thing I did from the last ride. Wish I knew the roads better so I could just start and stop the camera every time we were coming to a better section.

  6. I just constantly change my body position or else I start to cramp up. I noticed if i rest my throttle elbow on the tank or put my toe on the peg and rest elbow to knee, it helps immensely with throttle hand. Or, what I did the last time, cross up and use the left hand to hold the throttle while resting the right.

  7. dont feel too bad, 20 minute project took way longer than anticipated....I hate the way they changed the rear brake setup on the gsxr's. Didnt get the caliper support bracket in the slot when bolting shit up and didnt realize it till it was all buttoned up. Removed it all and didnt realize the chain dropped down below the swingarm, had to remove it a second time. Guess that is what happens trying to do shit last minute in the dark.

  8. Perfect place

you know when you think about it, not a bad idea at all.

may be an overnight stay in SEO and ride will help you with it

Between time, gas, tire wear, and just strain I'd say a hotel would be a justifiable expense.
