  1. Anyone going? Never done a trackday with NESBA before, I'm considering it since I didn't make Mid-O earlier this week.
  2. I'm happy with the way my joe rocket textile jacket held up in my lowside. Spidi 1 pc suit has been slow speed tested and held up fine. A* gp pro gloves held up fine in the slow speed test, however the stitching on the fingers had to be repaired from normal use. A* SMX plus boots(older style) held up to everything so far with a few scuffs...I'll be getting another pair if these wear out. On another note, don't take the armor out of a textile gear and expect it to do jack shit. It will save large areas of abrasion on your limbs, but points like elbows, shoulders and knees will wear through fast and leave you with rash in the more painful areas while healing. My textile got down to the armor in a crash that I consider to be pretty minor.
  3. I had a set of shinkos....005 advance front and 009 raven rear. They were OK for commuting and not much more. I could feel the rear slip pretty easily under throttle in a turn and it was garbage in the rain. If I had a bike that I was going to rack up miles as a fair weather commuter, I'd consider them again. For the combo I had: All weather commuting....hell no; pushing in the twisties...hell no. Maybe the 005 advance would have worked a little better in the turns and rain.
  4. No love lol I don't think I've met anyone on OR that I didn't enjoy following. It is all about setting your own pace/riding your own ride. If you chase; no matter how experienced you are, you are increasing the chance of being sucked into a turn and ending up in a ditch.
  5. I'd bring my busted ass bike for a ride, but I already signed up to golf w a few guys from work. Have fun and ride safe.
  6. Hopefully I will as well, my visit to SC has me looking for jobs in that area. Tip of the tail fairing went on the tree, everything else was duct taped or zip tied back together.
  7. Screw all this talk of rain, enjoy my ride back to Greenville SC. 28S, 64E, 178S. 64 is nothing to write home about, but both the other roads are great....28 for the smooth flowing road with amazing view, and 178 was just fun. Wish you guys could have made the trip and waited till Sunday to ride back. If you dont want to watch all 7 minutes of the first video, start from 2 minutes in. The pace for either video isn't blistering, I was alone with no cell reception and had laid it down 2 days before....excuses excuses. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVe-3PsgTJs& May be a few minutes before the second video is live http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABWjqzCSl6U&
  8. You mean like....uhhhh....damn near throw a bike off a cliff?
  9. me too, add mac sauce to the mcdouble, kill the mayo on the chicken and add bbq.
  10. Speaking of prior to the start of the race, why do some racers seemingly pump and release the front brake repeatedly as they come through the grid? You can see the nose of the bike dive hard when some of them do it. Heat in brakes and front tire?
  11. It was a good time, but hopefully the next trip isn't spoiled by weather....still was well worth it....at least for me because I trailered Mentioned that it doesn't really heat the tires after we got back. I do it sometimes to get in the mindset to flick the bike, to get comfortable, out of boredom on a straight, or to setup extending a turn.
  12. Damn, hope he is alright! Backboard doesn't sound reassuring though.
  13. tempted, but don't know if I will use them. is mounting them really a 17 step process? : http://www.motorcyclegear.com/nehp_images/pdf_files/rapid_transit/RECON77_mounting.pdf
  14. You wanna just run back? That was a fun ride, wanted to keep moving. Next time, we are planning a route out through 28, up&down the dragon, 28, gas, skyway. Sorry Doc, not stopping every 10 miles for photos next time www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLxrrW2wwMM& www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMUR_XDwaFc&
  15. If it will be enjoyable, I'll ride. If it will be shitty weather or a rush(slab), trailer. Unfortunately, living in Cleveland forces you to slab for an hour to hit anything enjoyable. I made a mistake before, the ideal way to get to the gap would be to live about 2 hrs away
  16. I didn't mind my 3 hr ride from Greenville, but that is a lot different than your ride in the rain. What would be ideal is trailer half way then ride the rest.
  17. We have plenty of time to figure it out, the truck is a good option to have if more people join. I wouldn't mind riding down, but only if the weather was guaranteed nice for the duration.
  18. I'll be going down after I get more vacation in July. Trailer down Thursday night, ride Friday and Saturday and return Sunday. Car should be able to tow two bikes.
  19. Time to buy a Harley.
  20. I wasn't sure of the curves, traction and how much I really wanted to push it when taking the lead; that's probably why I was not that smooth and kicking between 2nd and 3rd gears on the way up the hill. I turned in early when I lowsided, but at the same time I wasn't going fast enough where I couldn't hold a constant radius around the double yellow to avoid running wide....well if the front stayed under the bike. I don't think the camera had any effect, was already past him, looking at the exit and for the next turn. That turn wasn't bad at all, I didn't think there were any turns there that were bad/unexpected. Probably gets a little more interesting when the foliage thickens up.
  21. Nice write up and photos Doc, love the video.
  22. me, Doc, Jester_, Tim(not sure of forum name) and Al Z. Heimer they rode down and back in the rain....I took the bike down in the bed of a pickup along with a couple dirtbikes for my nephews. Rode from Greenville SC to the gap on some twisty ass roads including 28(awesome); immediately hit the dragon going north and then the lowside happened.
  23. I've had worse rash from wrecking a bicycle....literally. Four small spots no bigger than a quarter each on my left kneecap and one on my right. Jacket took a beating, but did its job well. Nivin, you can't call me a psycho when you were ripping through corners on the Skyway in the rain....after the little mishap.
  24. That squid bike is the best! What is the criteria we want to discuss....ergonomics, HP, handling, aesthetics, aftermarket support, parts availability, cost....? Street or track?
  25. Welcome, hopefully see you on a ride this summer!
