Longdog They cancelled my order of Pirelli's for some reason about not shipping to my address. Anyway I took you up on the power pures from the website you linked to. What a great deal! I saved over $100 from the Pirelli's. I'm looking forward to the trying them out and then getting a set of pure ones halfway through next season. It seems people are getting 4-5 days out of them on the track from what I've read. After running the GPA's and constantly chasing a tearing issue due to finicky tire pressure I opted out of the Q2's as I have read they tear easily too. Is the 10mm in relation to the stock tire height? I have 180/55 Pirelli slicks on the way and they are taller on average than a lot of other tires. So if my Pirelli's are say 2mm taller than the OEM tire should I shim 8mm instead? Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2

No threadjack here. Ima learn something:thumbup: This KTM Brian guy seems to know a thing or two. Maybe he should go on forums and help the locals sort out their rattle traps. I have the caps on my short list. Those will be purchased over the winter. For now I have them flush mounted with the top mount. I run Mid-O and will do other tracks next year. I am doing my first of many services on my 07 Gixxer 750 forks. I have Sonic Springs 1.1 kg going in and Maxima 5wt as it is as close to OEM as I can get off the shelf. The manual states 112mm but in my search I've turned up a lot of rambling about the subject, but nothing solid. A Dave Moss video mentioned 130mm for street, which is a far cry from 112mm. I know the effects of more oil/less airspace = progressive stiffness and less oil/more airspace= a more linear compression. Past that I'm still looking for some input on if I need to adjust the fluid height to suit track riding. I'm not a big break grabber either. Any ideas? Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2

I'm servicing my forks, shock, and respringing everything. I need a mm tape measure to get oil height and sag set. I've used standard and it got old converting. I know I can order one online but I want to find one locally so I don't have to wait a week to get it as I want to get my forks done before the weekend. Any suggestions? Martial arts and tattoo pain are two different beasts. I've broken my leg and nose several times and almost yelled when my last tattoo came up the inside of my elbow, where blood is drawn. Either way you'll be fine, it's not like you can stop once it's started. Sounds like you are well prepared. Eating is a big part. I would bring snacks if it'll be 4 hours. When I got color match quoted on PC for my Brandywine paint the price skyrocketed and they made no promise of a perfect match. They are now black with flake that they had in stock. If you want perfection I'd go paint. If you don't mind something that may be a shade off and only noticeable to the trained eye that is bulletproof PC is the way to go. As for accents it can be a pita to tape off and make the lines perfect. I wet sanded my rim lips to a chrome shine and after the PC I have to sand it again to even the line up......but damn it looks sweet. Kind of a crappy shot and the lips need polished again. As for your bike orange on orange might be a bit.....how do you say.....orange. I think a solid black may set it off better with contrast, but this is my opinion and do what you think is right. I'm going to Pegram's for a Dyno tune to fix a flat spot at 8500 RPM. While I'm there I'll have him set my suspension up. I'll have proper springs and a fresh service so it will be perfect timing. They invited me to stay the whole dyno session to learn something. So not only am I paying for a tune but school is in session:) That's my kind of shop. Which brings up a good question, where do I need to be? I've shimmed the rear up 5mm and flushed the forks to the triple trees. This was the consensus on several forums as a baseline start point for the 06-07 600/750. It seems to me adjustments are made given the bikes behaviour and feedback. The problem is I'm not experienced enough to be effective at that aspect yet. At best I played tire reader and got my adjustments to the point my tire was looking and wearing well. It also felt like it handled well, but again I don't have a good feel. Past that I'm a bit hazy. Should I keep riding until I get it and adjust or go to a professional and let them play with it? Fitment wasn't bad. Paint didn't match OEM perfectly. The paint job looked fine. The plastic was thinner and didn't have a super solid feel. It's kind of like shutting the door on a economy car vs shutting the door on a Lexus. Both doors work but one has a more positive quality feel. Personally, if I was tracking it I'd go with the Chinese stuff. If you drop it again you won't cry.

I've done the QSL bike night a time or two. I saw a guy hanging off the side of his Harley, to keep himself upright, with a pitcher of beer in his hands. I can't stand that or the typical arrogant school of squids that frequent the place. I'm sure there's some cool people to meet but I'd rather complain to people on OR about it while I sit in my living room and watch Rocky. I bought a rear cowl from Hong Kong. Definitely not OEM quality but a heck of a lot cheaper. I've heard others give the "you get what you pay for" review on the kits. I would give them a run if you're looking to go on the cheap. Otherwise save the pennies and go OEM. I looked at those too. They are praised but do wear out quickly on a track. Seems that the consensus is they need swapped after 2 track days at a good pace. I'm trying to be thrifty as I've dropped enough $$$ on bike stuff this year for my wife to have a reason to make me sleep in the garage. Plus we are expecting a baby girl in February I ordered a pair of the Diablo Slicks mentioned above. They are aimed at track day riders that are quicker than a sport tire but don't need a full race tire. Plus the soft carcass with harder rubber gives it mileage, and they are designed to not need warmers!!! The downside is some sacrifice on heavy lean angle and throttle. They get a bit twitchy there but that could help me learn to carry corner speed and not try to throttle out of a crappy turn. I am also interested in trying some different tires out and mixing things up. Through my internet digging I found these and I am very interested. http://canyonchasers.net/reviews/tires/pirelli-redstripe.php Yes it is likely faster than I can ride and as expensive as the Dunlops I currently run, but they brag on longevity and being able to run up to 1500 miles of track time. I would run through almost 3 sets of GP-A's at that mileage. Anybody have a word on these?

Good food for thought. What I'm looking for is a tire that won't break my wallet and give me some traction. Bottom line, I'd spend the extra money on GPA's as they are wonderful tires, but if I can find something more reasonable that's would keep me stuck to the track at my pace I'm game. My D211 GPA Dunlops are about smoked. They have 5 track days on them. They aren't known for their longevity. I really like them, but DAMN are they expensive and I don't think I'm fast enough to justify that much tire. I have to respring and service my shock and forks and cheaper tires would help a lot. I got timed by my buddy during a session and clipped a 1:46 at Mid-Ohio for a reference point. I'm looking at the Bridgestone BT003rs and the Michelin Power Pure. The pure has light tire technology that interest me and the Bstones are dirt cheap with descent reviews. The GPA's were confidence inspiring and I don't want to step back too far and lose that feeling. This will be for a 07 Gixxer 750 that's a dedicated track bike. Let me know what you guys think about the 2 choices above and if there are any suggestions I would greatly appreciate the input. Also, is there a good hookup for tires anybody could pass along?
