  1. I'd be curious how these guys will handle rain with Aaron running it. They, like most smaller clubs, didn't run in the rain. I was thinking of going but not a fan of sliding around more then normal in the rain.

    Rife's LOL

If this was done through insurance I'd make a fuss about it with them, seeing as how you don't seem to want to deal with it you must not have paid out of pocket. It's sad how hard it is to get decent body work done. All I ever want is someone who can paint, I usually tweak and adjust panel fitment myself until it looks decent. Of course I've done that with everything I've ever owned damaged or not, part of buying GM cars I guess.
  3. Sounds out of freon. You need to find and repair a leak most likely.
  4. How many brand new cars do you see on the road? How many cars 10 years old? My point is this, this will be a gradual change. Hopefully slow enough to prevent major economic melt down so things can adapt. I'm hopeful that finding fuel for my cars will still be possible in my 70s because while I may buy an EV in the future for transportation I do not intend on giving up my toys for fun. I think that will be a popular ideal for people who like having more then one car. Obviously the oil market will slow, but smart people call themselves an energy company and look at alternatives. People and companies will learn to adapt or die off, and that is something no one can predict.
  5. I like playing devil's advocate so here goes, the final drive in the transmission is connected to the axles and therefore spins in relation to road speed. You need to know what you're listening for, and is specifically why I stated above to see if it changes under side loading.
  6. I still like dealership life. Had a good interview with Wyler today, should pan out, and I'll be working with Kyle again.
  7. Most likely a wheel bearing, however the final drive in the trans has caused similar noises. Check out what it does when shifting the vehicles weight from side to side when it's making noise (it's not so much about turning, just loading one side or the other to see if the noise is affected).
  8. Well I need to find a new job. Dan Tobin is not working out, and I'll leave it at that. I'm a GM certified master technician, ASE certified master technician, and I don't have much experience working on anything other then GM cars. I'm open to ideas outside of dealership life, and I'm really getting tired of flatrate. I'm not sure that there's much other then a dealership where I wouldn't have to take a big paycut. Any ideas are welcome, anyone aware of decent busy dealerships they'd like to share are welcome.
  9. It's both, there's no place for a torque converter so you could not ever have the car take off under engine power. There's also lots of software issues because it's designed to be propelled by electric motors. If you wanted it to run on purely engine power of course that is basically impossible, it would be easier to LS swap it. I suppose with some slightly different designs of the engine and trans on top of software you could have a 2 mode hybrid similar to the hybrid Yukons from a few years back.
  10. Completely re-engineering the car. :dumb:
  11. I have personally seen conflicting information from GM on this subject so I don't wish to argue about it, my point is that the engine isn't designed to drive the wheels. The only information I have seen (likely the same as you have) that indicates that in an extreme situation it can get coupled to both motors thus driving the wheels, however it's not like it does this on any regular basis.
  12. Draco- as someone who is Volt trained, let's clarify the difference between a Volt and your typical hybrid. There are 2 motor/generator assemblies in the Volt transmission, they can eithrr generate electricity through regen braking (motor 2) or through the engine running to generate power (motor 1). They can be used to propel the car either independently or together. However the engine itself never sends power to the wheels, there is the ability there for it to do so, but it doesn't. There is basically 3 sets of clutches in the trans to connect or isolte the engine, motor 1, and motor 2. There is no torque converter just a coupling so it's unable to use the engine to drive the car. Now a typical hybrid is almost opposite this EREV concept. As the electric motor is simply there to assist. GM uses a couple versions of this in the form of e-assist or 2 mode. In simple terms e-assist uses an external motor in place of the alternator to perform regen, generator, and propulsion assist. The 2 mode uses motors in the transmission, and while similar to a Volt, it has a torque converter and the engine provides power above 25mph. So seeing as how GM utilizes all these systems as well as pure battery only, you cannot say that they are not on the forefront of technology. I also want to say that while hydrogen is a really cool concept, think about the infastructure involved with something like that. Hydrogen is much harder to contain and deal with then gasoline. While that may be the ultimate replacement, it's much further off then anything else being discussed here.
  13. Sad really. I haven't heard anything about going 100%, but I'm sure more and more of this is coming.
  14. Went for the fun and hanging out with friends, and I was not disappointed.
  15. How come Wagner isn't on the attendee's list? I'm down.
  16. Well here's a little update: The A/C has been off since Sunday so it was thawed out. The blower motor works fine. The Condensor outside was clogged with debris and dirt, so I cleaned that all out. Put the unit back together, turn everything on, only the bottom section of the evaporator gets cold and frosts up in that section. So I'm not sure why I had so much ice on it Sunday, but now I'm convinced that it is low on freon. Air flows through everything fine, like it always has. I may go back down and see if i can get into the evaporator a little deeper and see what's collected in there, but this system is 14 years old and there is corrosion everywhere and some parts of the furnace are rusting through. Looks way worse when you get inside of it and look around. Fucking awesome.
  17. Thanks Doug. I looked at it Sunday night, but haven't really had much time the last couple days. Thinking it's low on charge.
  18. Alright CR, Sunday night I realized that my A/C wasn't working. The evaporator had turned into a block of ice. Since I don't see anything blocking anything or visually damaged, I'm going to have to find someone who has the proper tools and know how to fix it. So, does anyone know anyone who knows how to actually tell me what needs fixed? Because I don't just want someone coming out and trying to sell me a whole system, I need someone who knows how to diagnose it. This is why I haven't just cracked open the phone book and taken a shot because it could be the difference of $500 or $5000.
  19. You may want to fix your Craigslist ad, says $100 in the title and $50 in the text.
  20. People are stupid breeding more stupid. And you can't compare motorcyclists to kids in car seats, motorcyclists are adults who can make their own decisions, kids are not. Both situations are stupid just different.
  21. Okay I signed up, nobody tag me that day on Facebook I'm just not going to work since I can't have it off, fuck em.
  22. Dan Tobin needs a good service advisor. I know that kind of money is easily attainable for someone who can actually do the job.
  23. I've had cars do funny things after disconnecting a battery, and after disconnecting again and letting things power down it works fine. GM refers to this in their vehicles as "logic lock", and disconnecting the battery you actually hold the cables together for 5 minutes, this makes sure any capacitance is drained, they call that "global reset". Ever since computers have become so common and control everything this has become normal.
  24. If you can't get much interest, then so be it. I'm not thrilled with taking another unpaid day off, but would likely go if people would.
