  1. You all are having way to much FUN! King Kenny, started training with the mini's back in the day According to Superbikeplanet, the three-time world champion had owned the ranch for about 35 years. What began as a practice track for Kenny and his friends and family eventually grew to become the Kenny Roberts Training Ranch. It served as a hands-on classroom for eventual championship riders like Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey, Kenny Roberts Jr., Rich Oliver, and Jorge Lorenzo. Roberts was still active in training professional Gran Prix riders last year, and the track saw regular use by local riders. Roberts’ dirt track training methods would also take root in Europe, where he won the first of his three consecutive titles in 1978. The Spanish site of the KR Training Ranch was adjacent to the Circuit de Catalunya, just outside Barcelona. World class competitors like Sete Gibernau and Valentino Rossi would hone their skills as teenagers on the dirt track. Eventually the advent of electronic controls such as traction control in MotoGP racing would render Roberts’ training style obsolete, but he will always stand as a pioneer in the field. In a 1999 interview, 500cc World Champion Alex Criville credited The Ranch with improving his performance on the road racing circuits. “Riding the Rotax singles at the Roberts school helped me stay calm and comfortable when the bike was sliding and helped me get the Honda NSR500 turned earlier and the power down earlier,” he said. “I was racing Mick Doohan on the same bikes, and riding dirt track helped me get on his level in spite of coming from a 125cc and 250 background.”

    Ride 7/12 or 7/13

310 miles of great riding today. Thank you Rick and James for allowing me to tag along. Also the music of the CBR and the MT exhaust was great. Sorry I had to split at Woodsfield and blast home on 78. I missed having my asphalt physical trainer Derek Clouser on the HW 78 Section between Woodsfield and Caldwell. I did my best keeping my speed above a ton and doing arm presses in your memory. That was my first spirited group asphalt ride of 2019.

I can do Fri or Sat at the New Concord meet. Also Jim, I miss riding with you Get well soon.
  16. Hay Mud Bone, you can use my trailer.
  17. Ok, It looks like I will be working in Marietta Sat 24/Sun 25. I should do the MSTA on Tue/Wed/Thru/Fri. Now what bike? I should have my 50/50 tires about gone by then on the V and have a set of 90/10 Bridgestone’s that can handle the asphalt Twisty and Gravel rides. Since the ADV stuff looks very mellow gravel and most ADV group rides are slow as fuck and could be a dusty parade of riders in Power Ranger Suits doing the “Wehrmacht” Riding style march at 35-40mph. Then again there might be a group of lawless KTM riders going mad and that would be fun. May need 50/50 tires and bring two bikes. The Z is fun on the twisty stuff that we all ride over in the SE but that HBHD Tech PT1 ride would be better on the V with the added suspension for the back road downhill air time. I will ponder this dilemma and try to decide soon. Wife and I just eat dinner at “DaVinci’s. It’s just over the bridge at 215 Highland Ave, Williamstown, WV 26187. Great Food.
  18. Me likely this stuff also. Fasty Fun.😀
  19. Welcome, from Hocking Hills. Be sure to check out Wailine Wayne Weekend 2019 Sept 5-8 New Straitsville, OH. Not much ADV activity here on this site. It seems to becoming more of a Big Rig touring bike stuffed animal flair event patch vest wearing how many miles did you ride today site. Still good folks and good information here.😁
