  3. Road out to the Triple Nickel Diner from the Hock with the wife following on her Spyder. 78E to 555S, Lunch. then 555 down to 50W. Tried to take 144N out of Coolsville but ran into a flooded area that closed the road. Back tracked 33N to Chauncy on 13N- back roads home. Had a fresh Pirelli Angel GT Rear tire on the Z. The lunch was great. They have added more items and lunch specials, plus a assortment of home made pie's.

  4. The only all-weather riding suit I have now is the Adventure Style, REV’IT Poseidon Gore-Tex jacket and pants. They have a waterproof Norwegian Whale Foreskin outer layer that will keep you dry but it smells funny. If you are over 50 and have a large belly go a size larger on jacket.  I blame it on a fatty Liver. I have a hot weather REVIT Cayenne Adventure Jacket and Pants from 2010 that has held up very well on and off road but you will need a rain suit. For the hot weather street bike ride I wear the REV’IT GT-R Air Textile Jacket and Pants. I think REVIT is a company over in Holland where they have great Coffee shops and Hookers. So it must be good.

  5. Since your OP states that you are looking for "water proof over pants"  I would suggest "Moose" They have the larger sizes you need. Gortex waterproof will limit your choice and cost more. I just completed a Adventure Ride in November with someone on a new Honda AT and he had a 2 piece Firstgear riding suite that was sized for over the pants. great gear with a nice price. Good luck.

  6. USED!  For Sale SIDI Strada EVO Air Boot  Size 12.

A little wear around the toe shift area. Summer boot, Very light weight boot. it's a tight 12 so a 11 or 12 dog will work.  $55.00  Hocking Hills/Logan area.

Back in the day before internet when magazines ruled:

    * The Strada Evo Air is one of the coolest Sidi sport boots…in more ways that one! Encompassing most of the same features as the Strada Evo te-por (except the water resistant lining) the Strada Evo Air adds a pair of intake vents, called “Kent Vents” after Sport Rider Magazine’s Kent Kunitsugu who inspired them
    * Add the new replaceable thermoplastic shin plate and dual compound sole to the breathable lining and Sidi has created the coolest air breathing sport-touring boot on the planet!

    In use awhile back.

Thanks.  I'm still pretty much stuck to the street with my big GSA, with some mild gravel on occasion.  BUT, I just picked up a WR250R for playing in the dirt!

My 2004 DL1000 was used 95% fast street and sport touring with the occasional gravel to get to a specific location off road like a lake, camping or event. I found the Metzlar Tourance tires were the best all-around for me. Very predictable when pushed. I think all tires of today are much better than what I road on back-in-the-day. The WR250 is a great bike with a large following and many aftermarket parts to fit your needs. I had a WR450 set up for desert riding that  I brought from AZ. when I moved here in 2010. Sold it for a Z1000.  It's all GOOD.

'What tires u runnin on that Strom?

I have been running Mitas Dakar Tires since purchasing this V2 in July 2015

    Mitas tires, (Dakar) sidewall
    E-07: 50% Street/50% Dirt tire
    E-10: 40/60
    E-09: 20/80 Harder Compound

. My Standard set-up is the Mitas E-07 Dakar tire that work great on all surfaces and weather. During winter and spring I go with the E-010. Now I am trying the E-09 on the rear for spring riding plus I have some off road trips planed in CO.& UT this year. The E-07 did fine on the Kentucky Adventure Trail (KAT) The Dakar has a very stiff sidewall that helps with my cast wheels and lower air pressures during some off-road works.

    Check them out, YMMV

Been pretty happy with those Yamaha's???  I've been looking at inverters.

    Thanks

Yes, very much so. Very Quiet and easy to use. I purchased them 5 years ago for the Wife to use while I was deployed away for short periods I made her a video of set-up/operation and she had no problems during storm related power outages.I keep the fuel fresh and change oil annually. If you need extra power the EF2000iS has a parallel function lets you connect two generators to deliver up to 30 amps with a kit. 30amps is also good for a RV/Camper off grid.

Cool video, great to see that you are prepared for that sort of riding especially alone. I was sitting at my computer thinking "how the hell is he going to get out alone" and then comes the ropes! Also were the guys that helped just passing bye?

The Two Gentlemen that stopped by to help were the Malta Township road crew members. That BIG man picked up the front and set it aside like a case of beer. Saved me about 2hours of slow winch-en. Good people from Malta.

  12. Well,  The V-Strom required a rear tire change to a harder compound Mitas E-09 Darkar Knob!  from the E-10 Dakar.

The Z1K required a harder Pirelli Angel GT to match front.

JIM, Thank you for the OR stickers for both bikes. Will were them with pride and defiance.

@B-Mac, have you and @theroamr ridden together before on pavement?  It'd fun to see what what you guys would get into off road...

On Asphalt, I have only ridden with you twice and the epic rides I've been on I have been attached to Jschaf's wing. I have ridden with Derek twice.

We just finished a ride yesterday in the Tar Hollow area. It's always a good time with lot's of laughs.

  15. This System is a must have for old fat has been's that get stuck alone in the wilderness.

    Motorcycle Recovery System (MRS)?
The MRS is a z-drag rope-and-pulley system originally developed for mountaineering and rescue teams. That system was modified for motorcycle recovery operations. Recovery refers to the process of getting the bike back on the road or trail after taking an unexpected detour, or the process of getting the bike out of a bog or a sandpit.

  16. On another note. Wife and I had lunch at Blue Bell Diner today 2/21/17 in McConnelsville. Wife had a BLT with ice cold bacon and my breakfast had cold bacon. It was 11:30Am. serving cold bacon is a no no. Waitress stated she was trying to teach her daughter how to cook in the kitchen. Owner/manager was not on location. Will not go back for long time.

    YMMV
