The A-spec has a 2-layer construction--presumably the sidewall--for increased stability on the large sport tourers.  I'm almost certain that Pirelli makes an A-spec front as well now.  However, if this translates into increased mileage, I'd bet the front would last longer and you'd be swapping rears twice as often as fronts.  Prolly save some money, but I've never been a fan of pairing a new tire with one that's at half-life.

Honestly, I'm not sure I'd classify your Zed1K as a "heavy" sport tourer. My guess is that the weight target for the A-spec is 600# and up.

Thank You for the A spec info. Decision and purchase made.

  3. Getting ready to replace tires on My Z1k. I know many riders here using the pirelli angel's.

    My size. F. 120/70-17 R. 190/55-17

What is the difference between the GT Rear: 75W / 75W A spec and the D spec.  Also the GT front: A spec / 59W / 58W

    Thanks, B.

  4. Leaving Friday for the Kentucky Adventure Tour (KAT)This is a 900 mile loop around the hills and mountains of south eastern Kentucky. It is about 40% rural narrow twisty paved roads with the rest being gravel, dirt roads and trails. It will take 5 full summer days of riding to complete the main section. Some of these areas are very remote. A suzuki v-strom 1k, a honda cfr 1k, a ktm 990, kawasaki klr 650 and honda 650r will be the steeds of choice. Will do a ride report or link when I return. Brian

Tracktime taught me that hard braking in a panic is best done upright.  As soon as I caught sight of the truck, my bike was up and on the binders before swerving around the truck
