  1. When the dust settles, I'll be leaving the most glowing review of this dealer that's ever been written.
  2. So I talked with the warranty service person and the tech who are working on my bike. They requested a crate motor and Triumph responded saying they don't have one available. They now have to completely tear down the bottom end and potentially/likely the transmission to see where every issue is and individually request those parts. Nobody at the dealership is happy about that but it sounds like they are going to basically request a whole motor minus the case. I'm good with that. At the end of the day, I'm thrilled the issue will be taken care of, disappointed in how long it's taking, but overall I'm feeling good. At least that's what I keep telling myself! haha
  3. New valves, pistons, rings, hone cyclinder(s)? Loads of shrapnel for sure, thing grenaded. Part of the issue with this is, if they do have to grind the motor, who is going to do that? Dealer doesn't have those tools and I don't know a shop around that would touch a warranty engine job. And I'm a tool and die machinist! I'd rather wait until next year if that meant I got a totally fresh motor. Season is about over and I have the Ducati still. Can't float a valve on that!
  4. My concerns exactly. I would imagine they'd need to hone the cylinder and mill the head at a minimum. How does it go back to stock with that work done? Don't know yet. I'm going to the dealer after work and hope to talk with the tech about the game plan.
  5. @what who was the coach we had at MidO when it was just two of us in his group? Eric Spector? Hes a motorcycle lawyer. Yes: http://www.riderswin.com/ Jim, I talked to Eric, he does work in Ohio (he lives in Michigan) and has two other lawyers in Ohio who could be a resource for you if you haven't found anyone yet. He's a cool dude, good rider (as if that matters here!).
  6. Floated a valve on the Daytona early this season. Destroyed piston 3 etc. I'm under warranty and thought Triumph was sending a crate motor until now. Turns out they want to rebuild it. What questions do I need to ask or things to be aware of as they do this. Not happy about this turn if events, and while I am confident in the dealer to do their best work, I would have preferred an OEM drop in solution.
  7. Noggin is good, shoulder sore, but itll be ok. Thanks man.
  8. I had a great day workin that corner for mad cash and getting a great spot to watch the races. Really tight battles all day and good clean racing. I'll have a look at my bike this week and figure out what it needs to lay the hurt on Novice Stock XR next race.
  9. No, you need one asap. Or just come hang out at a race some time. Race today in Circleville. September 8th in Circleville also, then September 15/16 practice/race in Camden, Ohio at G&J Kartway. That's @Helmutt and @snot's hometown track.
  10. General shit talking dude, you ought to know that. Hehe
  11. Yeah, I gotta give the guy a hard time when his real bike makes the power of 25 XRs! It's one reason I love it so much, make fun of your buddies in the pits and on track and laugh about it all night. The shot @tall_tracy got of me on the ground with a tipped over xr? I fell over coming into the pits after the last practice Saturday afternoon. Like a dumbass. Hahaha
  12. @kbrok was lapped traffic during practice and didn't know I was coming up fast on the corner before and I got nudged into the grass. All in good fun, but I had to show my displeasure.
  13. Kids under 12 race free and have their own ~50cc class. MX gear is fine for them. Obviously leathers are best, but if the kid isn't running a hot pace, nobody cares. Hell, there's a kid who raced in snow pants and boots on a bike with knobbies. It's all about the fun.
  14. It was a 65, I talked to my newest sponsor, Kenda Tires, about the bike and confirmed motor size. Don't remember the make. As far as bike rental, I'll gladly let anyone here race/crash my bike as much as they want for free if you come down for a race or practice day. It's so much fun. First one's free. Also, I'm happy with my '99XR for what it is, cheap and reliable, but the newer CRFs are faster probably because the motors are not as abused as the older ones. Parts are totally interchangeable from '87 or so on.
  15. Great day, everyone. Thanks for taking pics and hanging out, Tracy. The racing was good, lots of good battles and the banked curve was tons of fun. Next race is at Circleville this Saturday.
  16. Bouncing one's head off the backstretch sure would taint things for me too!
  17. Some of us will be practicing at Adkins Raceway Park Saturday. @what @DerekClouser @kbrok Adkins Raceway 9114, 9352 Bunker Hill Rd, Port Washington, OH 43837 (740) 498-5157 https://goo.gl/maps/GQnBRbxeZq12 Stop over if you're in the area. Race on Sunday...
  18. Great pic, glad you took the class and I hope you both enjoy the hobby together. What's the second bike going to be?
  19. I had one, probably get another someday. It's been my avitar for a while.
  20. Pulled my FJR and cbr all over with my class 1 hitch and little car. Can be done. With Andy's element we took two sport bikes and two people and gear to Midohio no problem several times. That has a class 1 hitch also. Dont do stupid things with it and you'll be just fine.
  21. "Thank you Asia" according to google translate. Hey Dan, been following all the pics, glad you're having a great trip!
