  1. I quit riding, sold my bike for almost a year. Probably the most miserable year of my life. I had other hobbies but nothing was like riding. I also found out that riding for the adrenaline rush was a toxic way of riding for me. I now ride for stress relief, travel to see new things, and of course meeting great people. I still like the adrenaline rush every now and then, but in moderation so it doesn't get out of control. I think everyone hits that rut of not riding, it's how you cope with it and move forward.
  2. My old f4i wouldn't run with a low battery. Fuel injection would throw all kinds of fits.
  3. If it's without a wafflemaker, that's a deal breaker.
  4. Well my Skyline Drive plans have been cancelled, since Sunday is gonna be a cold wash out. Making a Day trip over to the Air Force Museum in Dayton Saturday if anyone wants to meet up.
  5. No post can have implied offerings. Mr. "I don't get invited"
  6. Watch out, @Tonik might buy it, wad it up in a ditch and make money off it.
  7. I just got back from 4 days in Wytheville, but this trip is just a quick 2 day trip across Skyline Drive. Going with my Dad on his cruiser, so it's definitely gonna be a sightseeing trip.
  8. Trust me, we would rather wait at an intersection than on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck. Ride within your limits and it'll work out fine. You guys have fun, sorry I can't make it this weekend. Heading to VA mountains.
  9. Whoa, let's stop right here. First, trying to keep up is NOT the goal. Ride your ride, your pace. Don't worry about keeping up, they wait for people to catch up at the stops/turns. There's no trophies at the end of the ride, so it's not worth wadding up your bike trying to keep up.
  10. If previous trips to SEO are any indication, I am sure this group will be at least a "Brisk" pace.
  11. Rode to work this morning. Quickly realized how filthy the bike is. Gonna clean it tonight and get it ready for a 2 day trip to Skyline Drive this weekend with my Dad.
  12. I googled Arlo Guthrie and Wikipedia said that song was famous from his performance at Woodstock. That's how I made my guess.
  13. Yes, I agree the corner was an easy turn, uphill as well. My group was probably 40 minutes behind them. We stopped for lunch and waved them around. The sight of Marty and Ray's faces when I passed by, I knew something wasn't right. Petey wen't out doing what he loved to do, and I am envious of that.
  14. Nothing showed rider error or mechanical failure. Pavement was in great shape, no gravel. Assumptions are health related issue may have caused something.
  15. I knew of him, but not closely. He had been a part of the FJR community for a long time.
  16. So as some of you know, I attended a FJR rally in Wytheville, VA this weekend. The weather was great and the roads were amazing, but we were struck by a great tragedy. We had a rider crash and was killed. This thread is not to discuss the cause of the crash, but rather to remind people to reflect on how great we have it. Make the best out of your riding trips and enjoy them as much as you can. You never know when it could be your last.
  17. We drove right around the signs in Sunday. Just a single lane open.
  18. Bike is all loaded up. Heading out tomorrow morning for 4 day weekend in Wytheville.
