My K-bike and both of my uncle's K-bikes (98 LT & 05 LT) have had the issue. Mine was fixed right before I bought it. It's a dry clutch, so when the transmission seals leaks, it destroys the clutch. ABS control modules don't have the best reputation either, and they ain't cheap. Mine started acting up when I traded it in. Not trying to scare you away from it, they are fun bikes.

Same drivetrain as my old K1200RS. Surprisingly they don't have a very high resale value. I've seen them in the low $3k range. They have a transmission seal issue that can wipe out the clutch, and its a job to replace too. They are a fun bike though. The LT models are super comfortable, other than the ridiculously hard twisting throttle.

I agree, this is just below CBR300 price range or leftover R3/Ninja 300 range.

That's where I'm going around with my LS build. 5.3 LM7, Custom ported and decked heads, PAC .660 Double Springs w/ titanium hardware, TSP 228R Cam (Sounds Awesome), ARP studs everywhere, all King Ceramic bearings, LS2 Timing Chain, Circle D 3200 stall converter, built 4L60E, and custom exhaust with Sanderson Headers. All this in a little S10 should be fun.

Trust me, you will get bored of the stock power F-body. Hopefully you got an LS car.

Thanks for the advice guys. Some of the guys I work with told me to stay away from a FS bike for just gravel stuff, they mentioned the weight and loss of energy, so I knew that going in. The Trek DS3 did mention lockout capability for the fork. The differences in DS1, DS2, DS3 & DS4 has alot between different gearing stuff, which I have no clue on. DS3 & DS4 had tubeless capable hubs. I don't think I wanna get into that price bracket though, especially for a first bike.

So, since I have been exercising, and the weather is getting nicer, I have considered getting a bicycle. I haven't rode a bicycle since junior high, other than the stationary bike in the gym. People I work with go on trips after work and it has my interest. Mainly paved or gravel trails. I am close to Specialized, Giant, and Trek dealers. I plan to go rent a bike one day to see if I really want to spend money on a bike. Right now the Trek DS1 has my attention since it is less than $600 and has disc brakes, but who knows what I will like until I go try some. Anyone have any tips or suggestions on what to do or look for?

I'll probably be around Sunday. Not venturing too far away, due to a rear tire nearing end of life.

I like my mesh jacket on hot days (Rev'it Airwave). I recently upgraded to a mesh riding pant (Tourmaster Venture Air) that I can wear shorts underneath and stay cool. I know the mesh isn't the safest but it's better than no gear. I prefer a vented leather glove (Held Rodney) and boots at all times. I wear a lace up hiking boot to work when commuting, and zip up touring boot when out riding (TCX X-Five).
